[Seven-day gift pack has been awarded to Host. Please check at your own leisure.]
Jiang He, who was groggy in his sleep woke up, rubbing his blurred eyes as he turned towards the golden sack in his System Backpack.
It opened at his though.
“Congratulations, Host. You have received one eggplant seed.”
“...”
Jiang He was so shaken in spirit then that all his drowsiness was gone.
A single eggplant seed had appeared in his hand. It was shaped like your average eggplant seed, although it was much larger—the size of a coin.
[Eggplant seed]
[Attribute: Coldproof, heatproof, high-yield.]
Blinking, Jiang He couldn’t help chuckling and mutter, “Interesting. First, it was cuc.u.mbers, now it’s an eggplant. It’s fortunate that I’m the one who got this System, and not a widow...”
Getting off his car, Jiang He entered the yard.
His mansion was basically finished, with wiring and plumbing all put in place—now, w.a.n.g Sizhen was planning some furnishing for him.
In the yard, the cabbages Jiang He had planted two days ago had grown into an oily-green patch.
The cabbages were not actually planted on the ashes of Jiang He’s special crops and did not develop special mutations. Moreover, Jiang He did not add nitrogen fertilizer or composite fertilizer, because why should he add fertilizers to stuff he would eat, which ought to stay green?
Still, in just two days, the cabbages were ripe for harvest. Each of them weighed around fifty kilos and were moist—like a lady just stepping out of her bath, sweet, delicious, and appetizing.
“Two would have been enough. How am I going to finish everything after I planted so many?” Jiang He muttered.
Then, just as he was about to get a shovel, Dumbo was already darting towards him. As his ability improved, it became quicker in digging holes, and had gouged out a small pit in just a dozen seconds.
“Not bad.”
Jiang He smiled and threw in the eggplant seed, before exchanging a composite fertilizer and buried them.
Beside him, both Dumbo and Trumbo opened their mouths and used their new water-type powers to water the eggplant seed.
“Awesome.”
Jiang He couldn’t help chuckling. “Whoever has two pets like these wouldn’t need to pay water bills for their farms.”
Bringing out a bench, Jiang He sat cross-legged over it and waited leisurely for the eggplant seed to sprout.
After around three, a faint crunch sound could be heard from the soil.
Jiang He did not pay it much heed, since it was very normal.
The eggplant seed had been planted for quite a while, and it made sense that it made sounds as it took root and sprouted.
And after another three minutes, two raw shoots grew out of the soil.
At first, they were a pale-yellow, but following exposure to the sun, their pale color turned into a faint purple.
Hence, a purple ‘eggplant tree’ grew rapidly.
Even so, Jiang He was not weirded out.
How does that even compare?
He had already encountered a cuc.u.mber tree, a qi pellet tree, and even a money-growing tree. An eggplant growing into a tree was very normal, was it not?
Then, twenty minutes later, a mult.i.tude of flower buds were blossoming over the eggplant tree, which now grew to the height of an adult human.
And at the center of the bud was a tiny eggplant.
They were all a deep purple and several centimeters at first, but continued to grow, becoming as thick as they were long.
“Scary!”
“These eggplants are at least twenty-seven centimeters, aren’t there? And they’re so thick... they have to weigh several catties apiece.”
Jiang He guesstimated as his heart blossomed.
He could finally add a new ingredient to his dishes. Before this, he had thought that he would not only get sick of a cuc.u.mber-only diet, but also rank-seven Leopard Python meat that money couldn’t buy.
Growing the eggplant for a change of palate incidentally fit his plans.
After a rough count, Jiang He observed that the eggplant tree yielded a fine number of ninety-nine crops, and so reached out to pluck one—

[+1 Farm Point]
A cl.u.s.ter of data appeared before his eyes as he stared at the eggplant in his hand.
[A long, thick eggplant]
[Effects: Which in essences including Vitamin E and Vitamin P. High nutritional values, eases swells, stops bleeding, reduces body heat, and promotes longevity.”
Jiang He’s eyes sparkled.
“The effects of crops grown from this farm really could not be understood with common sense... easing swells and stopping bleeding...”
Jiang He hence turned on his phone’s front camera for a look at his handsome, gorgeous face... before clenching his teeth and steeling himself to look for a brick, and smash it heavily down his face.
Pow.
The red brick shattered.
???
Jiang He was between laughter and tears—he could not feel any pain at all. Then, as he stirred his True Qi to shake off the shards on his face, and turned on his phone’s front camera again—
“Nothing. No scratch, much less swelling or bleeding... My body is harder than steel now that I gained Beginner proficiency over Indestructible Diamond. How would a brick even hurt me? Wait...”
Jiang He gasped in surprise then, and moved his face closer to the camera. “Why do I look even more handsome after that brick smash?”
Putting away his phone, Jiang He turned towards another corner in the yard.
Over there, Dumbo was jumping around madly, fighting thin air.
Jiang He suspected then that Dumbo was not a Sichuan Wolfdog, and that it must have husky blood mixed in its ancestry.
Soon...
Yip!
Dumbo whimpered shrilly as it darted out of Jiang He’s yard, jolting Trumbo awake to the point that its bristle, its dark fur all standing up.
“What are you doing?”
Jiang He was a little speechless as he held his Dragon-Slaying Saber at his side, rebuking the dog, “I’m just cutting a bit of your skin, not chopping you up. Anyone hearing you yipping like that would think I was torturing pets.”
Yip-yip...
Dumbo’s canine face looked full of grief and misery.
Cutting skin?
That was okay.
Sure, you could cut an inch of my skin, but can’t you at least find a smaller knife?
This dog was almost frightened to death with how big that sword was!
“Stop yipping!”
Jiang He slapped the dog and stuffed the thick, huge eggplant he was holding down Dumbo’s throat, scolding, “My eggplant could really shut you up, huh? Make another sound and I’ll cut you up for your meat.”
And just as expected, Dumbo stopped crying out.
All the grief and misery in its eyes were also gone, replaced by a look of shock.
What on earth was going on?
That three inch-long cut on its leg was no longer bleeding?
In fact, the wound was visibly closing itself.
Jiang He nodded in satisfaction at that, with a ‘just-as-I’ve-thought’ look showing on his face. “It really does stop bleeding, so... about promoting longevity...”
His heart pounded then!
Could it be true longevity?
Still, there was no telling how many years would be added to his life if he ate one eggplant!
Meanwhile, a crisp voice could be heard then.
“Are you home, Jiang He?”
w.a.n.g Siyu had arrived.
She immediately saw the half piece of eggplant in Jiang He’s hand and could not help showing a look of surprise, her dainty white fingers covering her slightly parted lips!
Wow!
Such a large eggplant?
