Chapter 348: What Do the Green Hill Foxes Even Amount To?
Discreet auras were materializing in the distant skies.
Their gazes and divine minds were all focused upon Jiang He, and there were many of them: Jin Sidao, the Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s Lord of the Dragon Abyss Sword, several Mahayana cultivators from the Taixu Sect, along with many elites from various demonic sects as well as ancient daemon cultivators.
Jiang He felt extended his senses a little...
Even if there were a dozen people, the weakest among them was at least seven or eight retributions... did they not keep insisting that the time wasn’t right for them to reveal themselves? Why were they all showing up in the blink of an eye?
After all, they had legs and Jiang He could not control them... Still, isn’t it a little too much, running here to watch my show?
On the other hand, the Eminent Foxes were between a rock and a hard place.
Back off?
That would mean giving up on their dignity and the Foxes of Mount Changbai would be reduced to laughing stock from here on out...
But how were they supposed to move on from this?
In the split second needed to wave his hand, Jiang He took down a Mahayana Daemon. Would their Holy Grounds even stop him even if they went out in full force?
On the other hand, as Jiang He watched the Eminent Foxes all stared at him mournfully and hatefully. He coolly asked, “Why aren’t you lot saying anything?”
“Did you not hear what I’d asked for just now?”
“Fine, I’ll spend a little effort to repeat myself.”
With the Sword Array of Ten Realms and Infinity hovering above his head and its aura exerting pressure across all directions, Jiang He kept staring at the many Eminent Foxes and said, “Surrender the Green Fox King and lend me a cultivation technique for plant beings, and I will be needing two lesser daemons too.”
“By the way, isn’t your Holy Grounds rich and doesn’t it possess many daemonic weapons?”
“Lend me a few superior-grade sage flying swords too, along with 5,000 intermediate-grade spirit stones and 500 superior-grade spirit stones. Do that and I won’t keep pressuring you Foxes of Mount Changbai.”
“What!?”
The Eminent Foxes of Mount Changbai were at once baffled, with the old vixen barking, “You did not mention spirit stones and flying stones before...”
“Hmmm?”
Jiang He appeared surprised. “I did not mention that? Well, that’s fine since I can mention it now all the same.”
“Jiang He!”
The old vixen cried shrilly, “We, the Foxes of Mount Changbai, have stood for more than five thousand years. Would we still have any dignity left to live with if we lowered our heads to you now?!”
On the other hand, Jiang He was advancing while the power of the Sword Array of Ten Realms and Infinity erupted overhead. Still, though the sword array was locking on to another Mahayana fox, he was staring coolly at the old vixen who had kept complaining throughout. “I’m asking one last time. Are you lot lending it or not?”
“If you do, I won’t bother the Foxes of Mount Changbai ever again... but if you don’t, the Foxes of Mount Changbai shall vanish from the face of this earth.”
“You are delusional...”
Slap!
Even before that old vixen could finish her sentence, the Mahayana Fox which was targeted had slapped her in the face.
What the h.e.l.l.
You mad vixen! Are you being that bold because you knew that the Sword Array was not locking on to you?
Can’t you see that my elder brother had been cut down by that Sword Array in an instant?
He was slightly stronger than me but could not stop it at all, so you are hoping that I would die too?
Hence, right after slapping the old vixen, he promptly braced itself and exclaimed, “Brother Jiang He, we can talk about this!”
“No.”
Jiang He answered flatly, even though he was roaring with laughter inside.
Are the survival instincts of the Daemon Foxes that incredible?
I’m almost laughing out loud here.
Meanwhile, the Mahayana Fox gritted its teeth. Sensing that the Sword Array could land on his own head at any moment, it mustered whatever strength it had to speak, “Brother Jiang He, the Foxes of Mount Changbai can give you whatever you ask for. But the Green Fox King...”
Pausing, it then added, “It had acted carelessly back then, and had been severely injured by your sword, Brother Jiang He. It had been punished according, so please hold back, Brother Jiang He, and spare its life.”
Jiang He, however, shook his head and released killing intent away from his body. “I did not mention one last condition. The Foxes of Mount Changbai shall die today!”
“I...”
Even as the Mahayana Fox was left exasperated, the old vixen it slapped struggled to get from the ground. Coughing blood and smiling fearsomely, it seethed, “Don’t push us too far, Jiang He!”
Jiang He’s gaze turned cool at that. With a flick of his finger, he directed a strand of the power from his Sword Array of Ten Realms and Infinity at the old vixen.
The old vixen could not stop it, nor did it attempt to.
Closing her eyes, it bellowed in fury while weeping blood, “Jiang He! When the Immortal Foxes return in the future, they shall repay you for the humiliation you inflicted upon us today!”
Clang!
That was when up in the skies, a Daemonic Qi descended, rolling like a cloud and stopped the flash from Jiang He’s sword.
Jiang He’s eyes lit up at that.
Though he had used just a fraction of his own Sword Qi, its offensive power would not be weaker than the full-powered strikes of Mahayana elites. How was it stopped so easily?
As he focused his gaze, the rolling cloud transformed into a young man wearing white war armor and holding a scarlet spear.
He had unmatched beauty and there was a gemlike blueness in his pupils. Both his ears were pointy, retaining some bit of a Daemon Fox’s attribute.
He stared at Jiang He for a bit and smiled calmly. “Brother Jiang He, I know about everything that has happened. Even so, us foxes never had any quarrel with the world. Even if the Green Fox King of Mount Changbai was at fault for plotting against you, you have already taught it a lesson. Do give myself and the Green Hill Foxes some face, how about that?”
“A demi-immortal combat armor?”
“Premium-grade sage spear?”
“Mahayana-pinnacle cultivation?”
Jiang He thought then that the fellow’s items were quite good. If he killed him, took the items and strengthen them through planting, would he not have a set of immortal combat armor?
His eyes then turned to the youth’s face as he said flatly, “What do you amount to?”
“What do the Green Hill Foxes even amount to?”
“If you dare to act all pompous before me, why should I give you face?”
“Die!”
Within several seconds, Jiang He had already moved.
After he charged forward with the Sword Array of Ten Realms and Infinity, the Daemon Fox who resembled a youth was caught stunned. Though he retaliated with every move he knew, he was already left coughing blood after two moves even with the demi-immortal combat armor. Utterly astonished, he turned into a vein of Daemonic Qi to escape, his voice echoing from hundreds of miles away, “How dare you make an enemy of the Green Hill Foxes, Jiang He?!”
Jiang He swung his sword again, the light of his sword disappearing over a hundred miles away in a flash. Still, blood could be seen splashing out of the skies over there, and the Eminent Fox promptly fled after suffering a single sword strike, and was soon out of sight.
“Even if you’re all talk, there isn’t an ounce of competence in you...”
“The Green Hill Foxes?”
“Heh...”
Though his voice was serene, it boomed like thunder and resounded in the air. His last ‘heh’ of disdain especially left the Daemon Fox that had already fled four hundred kilometers away coughing blood from sheer frustration again.
Despite a flash of hostility in his face, he flew away without looking back.
At the same time, the old vixen started hooting away again, laughing wildly and smugly with immeasurable hate, “You’re dead, Jiang He! You’re dead!”
“The Green Hill Foxes have a long history, and we, the Foxes of Mount Changbai are but a branch of theirs. You have now provoked them, and you are definitely dead...”
Snikt.
A soft echo.
Sword Qi had pierced the old vixen between her brows and shattered her mind and soul. Jiang He gave its corpse just one look as it fell to the ground and said, “Noisy!”
With that, he turned toward the Mahayana Fox and asked with a smile, “Brother, what have you decided? Life, or death?”
The Daemon Fox laughed bitterly. There was a look of misery on its face as it asked, “Brother Jiang He, would you refrain from troubling us, the Foxes of Mount Changbai, after we lend you what you demand?”
Jiang He nodded.
“Very well,” the Daemon Fox said. “From this day forth, we, the Foxes of Mount Changbai, shall keep ourselves confined to our mountain. Aside gathering from necessities, no disciples shall leave in the next thousand years. Please keep your word, Brother Jiang He.”
“I, Jiang He, would never go back on my word.”
Holding to one last bit of hope, the Daemon Fox then asked tentatively, “Would you return the items you’ve borrowed, Brother Jiang He?”
Jiang He shook his head.
I took a loan through my power. Why should I return it?
The Daemon Fox smiled miserably in response then, and said, “Please wait for a moment, Brother. We’ll prepare the items right away.”
It returned inside the mountain array, and after a while, veins of Daemonic Qi clashed within, causing a considerable commotion.
Still, the Mahayana Fox soon returned to Jiang He, and placed the corpse of the Green Fox King and a Spatial Ring before Jiang He.
He put down the items and returned inside the array without a word, declaring sonorously, “From this day forth, the Foxes of Mount Changbai shall keep our mountain sealed... for a thousand years!”
Jiang He put away the Green Fox King’s corpse and the Spatial Ring, and turned to offer a fist-palm salute toward the skies.
Up above, the many auras lurking promptly fled without tarrying when they saw that...
They were afraid of ending up like the Green Fox King, after all.
Jiang He, however, quickly said, “What’s the rush, brothers and sisters? I still have questions I need everyone to answer.”
Several Mahayana elites from the Taixu Sect and Jin Sidao of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect stepped out then.
The Mahayana elites each had different expressions, the way they were looking at Jiang He changing right then. Though they were shocked when they had heard how Jiang He wiped out the Penglai Sect all by himself, they were feeling something completely different when they saw with their own eyes how Jiang He had cut down Eminent Daemons that were no weaker than themselves.
Sympathy?
Misery?
After cultivating for a thousand years, only to end up being unable to stop a brat’s sword... why did he bother cultivating?
“Eh?”
Nonetheless, Jiang He was unaware of their thoughts and exclaimed in surprise, “All of you are here? By the way, do you know the name of the Daemon Fox wearing demi-immortal armor and a premium-grade sage spear?”
“And where do the Green Hill Foxes reside specifically?”
Jin Sidao did a double take, but then opened his eyes wide and asked, “Brother Jiang He... are you thinking about going to bother the Green Hill Foxes?”
Even as he finished, the Taixu Sect members beside him quickly said, “No, absolutely not!”
“Brother Jiang He, the Green Hill Foxes are not easy prey... they hold a deep depth to their power and possess many elites under their command... most importantly, they might possess a genuine immortal item!”
“Immortal item?”
Jiang He’s eyes instantly sparkled right then.
If that was the case...
All the more reason to visit the Green Hill Foxes, then!
