Chapter 175: Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine, Nine Heavenly Star Body Formula
The sparrow was devoured by the ivy even before it could make a sound.
“But it’s just a normal sparrow, and it couldn’t reveal the power of the Mutated Boston Ivy.”
Jiang He could not help remembering the Sky Demon Cult once again then, thinking, “What a shame, those cultists had become much quieter these days. If some of their elites would try to scale these walls to infiltrate my house, I could definitely test how powerful the ivy is.”
“Still, I estimate that it would have no problems against a rank-seven... and though it might come up short a little against rank-eights, having those needles and spikes coiling them would be more than what they could handle.”
As Jiang He stared at the Mutated Boston Ivy, a bunch of data appeared before his eyes.
[Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine]
[Attribute: A mysterious fauna from s.p.a.ce.]
[Abilities: Constriction, protection, evolution]
“What the h.e.l.l!”
Jiang He was stunned at that.
Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine?
‘This really breaks the law of ‘you reap what you sow’! I planted an ivy, and you give me a Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine?’
“Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine, Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine... maybe it’s a species of ivy?”
Jiang He was pensive.
That was possible, since pet cats and tigers were both felines despite being different species.
Still, Jiang He had a vague feeling that the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine sounded quite familiar, as if he had seen or heard of it from somewhere else.
Not bothered to think, he continued studying the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine.
It has nine vines now, each as thick as an arm and growing up to fifteen meters long. Its tender green leaves were identical to the leaves it had before it was planted, although it seemed a little greener and livelier.
Curiously, its needle spikes that were usually concealed between its vines and leaves were completely gone.
No.
It did not vanish, but was merely retracted.
When not attacking, the many needles of the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine could not be seen at all, but they would promptly show up once
“Constriction?”
“Protection?”
“Evolution?”
“Constriction and evolution are understandable, but what is with protection?”
Jiang He mused to himself for a moment as he extended his senses carefully, and suddenly found a connection between himself and the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine.
He reached out to put his hand on the plant.
Its tendrils began to approached him, affectionately rubbing itself on the back of Jiang He’s hand.
Clearly, the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine had obtained sentience. However, it was just an ‘infant’ and no different from a newborn child, and did not know how to communicate.
And being the one who planted it, Jiang He was naturally its master.
Nonetheless, after a moment of rubbing itself on the back of Jiang He’s hand, the tendrils suddenly crawled under Jiang He’s skin.
He jumped, startled.
Still, he soon realized that he felt no pain at all. In fact, after the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine entered his body, he felt no sense of being bloated, whereas the friction when the tendrils entered his body caused a curious sense of comfort.
In moments, the entire Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine had crawled under Jiang He’s skin.
At Jiang He’s thought, the green-leafed tendrils crawled out of Jiang He’s hair pores and veins, forming a green vine armor over his body.
It covered even his thighs and head, exposing only his hands, feet, and eyes.
“Meow~!!!”
Trumbo cried out shrilly at that, the fur all over its body bristling in fright.
Yip!
Dumbo whinnied weirdly as well.
It had been digging a hole, and appeared to be shocked when it saw what happened to Jiang He, clutching at the iron shovel as it shook. After hearing Trumbo’s shrieked, it flung away the shovel and huddled together with the cat, shuddering.
“...”
Jiang He scowled, at a loss for words. “The Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine isn’t eating me. What are you two afraid of?”
Upon hearing his scolding voice, both Trumbo and Dumbo sighed in relief and circled Jiang He, studying him curiously.
“Master, that look is very beautiful!”
Dumbo flattered him then.
“Cut the c.r.a.p. Bring me a mirror!”
Upon Jiang He’s orders, Dumbo opened its mouth and expelled a jet of clear water that converged in the air, forming a mirror.
Jiang He hence stood before it, studying himself.
The armor that the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine formed fit him... but the oily green hue was rather dazzling.
Returning the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine back on the wall, Jiang He smiled. “You’re too weak now. You can’t help me all that much if you can’t stop a rank-nine’s attack as an armor... by the way, since you could consume that sparrow before, you could devour Feral corpses too, yes?”
With a wave of his hand, Jiang He threw half the Leopard Python and a full rank-six Feral Wolf’s corpse to the Cloudsc.r.a.per Vine.
Its tendrils hence rapidly covered the flesh.
Jiang He had been having those meat for too long. Now that he had enriched the food stored in his System Backpack, it was time to change his palate.
Then, Jiang He turned towards the spot where he had planted the rank-nine Origin Fluid.
That single look left him utterly disconcerted...
After all, a giant crystal bottle had grown out of where he planted the Origin Fluid. It was two meters tall and one meter in diameter, and was filled to the brim with Origin Fluid.
Likewise, each of the three spots where he planted the mineral water bottles each had a large-sized mineral water bottle.
From what Jiang He could see from the volume of the bottles, each would contain as much Origin Fluid as there was in the crystal bottle.
Jiang He smiled begrudgingly, shaking his head...
This d.a.m.ned System.
It really forced people to work.
Can’t you grow a tree that bears a few hundred tiny crystal bottles or mineral water bottles?
Now, Jiang He had to find a bottle and separate the Origin Fluid...
“That said, if I drink sparingly, this amount of Origin Fluid would last me a year and a half. After that, I could find myself better and tastier Origin Fluid.”
[Ding!]
[+1000 Farm Points]
[Ding!]
[+1000 Farm Points]
“...”
Jiang He walked up and ‘harvested’ the three giant mineral water bottles and the crystal bottle, putting them into his System Backpack whilst earning himself a total of 4000 Farm Points and 400 EXP.
“I’ll go to the city later to get myself some wholesale bottles, and have Sora pack them when I get back.”
With that in mind, Jiang He flipped his hand again and took out a Venus Rosewood box from his System Backpack.
Inside of which was the torn cultivation arts script that Murong Buyi had provided him.
Jiang He opened the manual and read it in detail... though he had taken out his pen and was about to fill in the blanks, but after studying if for half a day, he realized that he did not understand a single word in the script.
It was all ancient text characters.
“I give up!”
Rather upset, Jiang He cursed and promptly threw the torn immortal art script into the hole, took out his pack of Mysterious Soil and poured in half before closing the hole.
“Since my farm is now at level four, I could plant three cultivation manuals, one more than last time. Still, I would have to use it sparingly... since improving to level five takes fifty thousand EXP.”
Jiang He hence gave up on fabricating a cultivation manual like he did with ‘Jiang-clan Beast-taming’.
There’s no need to plant that staff since he was able to put it to use easily, and the black panther of Mount Helan was proof.
Now, Jiang He was staring hard at the spot where he had planted the torn immortal art script.
In truth, he was apprehensive...
He had thought about planting an immortal art before, but the System only showed his farm level, and he did not have the confidence that it could be planted even now.
Still, his worries were soon gone.
A mystical radiance emanated from the ground then.
At first, it was the size of a fist as it broke out of the soil and hovered at the heart of the farm, and soon it extended, radiating myriad colors as it grew rapidly.
And in just an hour, the fist-sized sagely light was now a ball of light that was almost two meters in diameter.
Inside the light, a jade scroll floated quietly.
Jiang He reached out and grabbed it, and the scroll fell in his hands.
[Ding!]
[+10000 Farm Points]
The System Notification that jingled beside his ears made Jiang He do a double-take... a single scroll actually earned him 10000 Farm points?
He checked his EXP bar to find that he had gained a thousand EXP too.
“Is planting immortal arts that delightful?”
Jiang He could not help laughing as he came to his senses. “And here I was thinking that reaching level 5 for my farm needs too much EXP... now it seems that my worries were unnecessary.”
Taking a deep breath, Jiang He turned towards the jade scroll in his hand.
There was no text on it at all.
Even so, Jiang He did not panic.
Such a thing was child play. After all, the jade scrolls containing cultivation techniques as depicted in xianxia and other fantasy novels could be read by injecting one’s spirit.
Just like how mystic tools require refinement and recognized their masters through blood drops, that was common sense.
Hence, Jiang He slowly released his spirit into the jade scroll.
In the next instant, Jiang He felt the world spinning around him, and soon his spirit ‘saw’ a pitch-black s.p.a.ce.
Abruptly, starlight arose within that dark s.p.a.ce as stars popped up over the night skies. Their light interweaved like a beam of light in the night, forming a cultivation through their starry radiance.
“The Nine Heavenly Star Body Formula?”
Jiang He scowled when he made out the t.i.tle.
Immortal physique?
Would he have to go along the path of body refinement until he expires?
Still, Jiang He soon understood.
When it comes to immortal physique...
What was not awesome about that?
His physique was strong in the first place, and after he gained mastery over Indestructible Diamond, wanting to improve his physical toughness was exceedingly difficult. Cultivating the Nine Heavenly Star Body Formula would improve his physique up to the next level, and when that happened, even a Feral King’s full power blow would not penetrate his defenses at all...
He was getting excited just thinking about it!
Be that as it may...
That was not all there was to cultivating immortal physique.
Jiang He looked closely, and soon noticed...
“One could pluck celestial bodies with mastery over the Nine Heavenly Star Body Formula?
“Is it really that amazing?”
