Chapter 39 – Nine Purity Palace’s Ling Xi
Translator: Mr Voltaire
Editor: Master Shadow
Seeing the bitter smile on the youth’s face, ripples spread throughout the seemingly-cold eyes of the woman in white, as if there were emotions flowing out from within them. Within those ripples, there seemed to be a slight sigh, as well as a trace of regret. This only lasted for an instant, before melting away into apathy, making it impossible for one to tell what she was feeling.
“Why did you not leave? Why did you help me to recover?” The woman in white’s eyes became slightly misty, her eyebrows curved like crescent moons. She spoke calmly, giving off the air of a G.o.ddess talking down to a mortal. The young woman’s att.i.tude caused the atmosphere in the cave to become colder.
There was a look of expectancy in her gaze that was mostly covered up. It seemed that this was something she was tied up over, and wanted to know before she left. However, she was too prideful, and maintained her cold and aloof att.i.tude.
“If you didn’t recover your strength, you would be bullied by other people. How could I allow my woman to be bullied? Is that reason good enough?” Xiao Yun didn’t see the hidden expectancy in the young woman’s gaze. Instead, the young woman’s aloof att.i.tude brought out the emotions he had suppressed as he gazed at her.
How could I allow my woman to be bullied!
The youth’s words were forcefully spoken, as if he wanted to let out all of his emotions. Xiao Yun knew that he had to part ways with this young woman sooner or later, but seeing her ask him with such a haughty tone, his emotions rose to the extreme. He knew that if he didn’t vent now, he wouldn’t have a chance in the future.
“Insolent!” The youth’s words sounded like thunder in the young woman’s ears. Her delicate frame slightly trembled as ripples appeared in her eyes. In an instant, her gaze became cold as she smashed her jade-like palm towards the youth.
The wind that the young woman’s palm-strike brought was extremely sharp, tightly encapsulating Xiao Yun. The power that bore down on him made him feel like the sky was falling on him, causing his spirit to tremble.
Bang!
Xiao Yun was sent flying by the palm and smashed into a wall.
Puchi!
Xiao Yun coughed up a mouthful of blood as he breathed in and out, the pa.s.sionate gaze still within his eyes. He raised his head and slowly stood up as he looked at the young woman seriously and said, “Why not just kill me immediately? Then you’ll be able to pretend none of this happened.”
The woman in white fell silent. Seeing how pa.s.sionately the cultured and refined youth looked, her heart tightened. She thought back to the youth executing enemies that dusk, dying the sunset red with blood as he went berserk. This time, he had once again gone crazy for her.
Thinking to everything that had transpired, the woman in white’s heart felt a strange sense of sadness.
It was a pity&h.e.l.lip;
“What, could it be that your heart really has been moved by me?” Xiao Yun licked the blood trickling out of his lips as he looked at the young woman who seemed like an otherworldly G.o.ddess. He had a youthful brashness about him as he unrestrainedly laughed.
“What qualifications do you have for my heart to be moved by you?” The woman in white’s gaze became cold as she stared piercingly at him.
“Haha, qualifications?” Xiao Yun tilted his head back as he laughed, “You mean strength, right?”
The woman in white’s sleeves fluttered as she coldly harrumphed, neither acknowledging or denying his words.
However, although her expression was cold, she inwardly sighed.
“If you stood on the same peaks that I stand on, perhaps it would be possible. But the difference between us&h.e.l.lip;” Thinking to there, she could only sigh.
The youth was currently only in the Innate realm, and the difference between them was like the clouds and mud. They were from completely different words and their union had been a mistake. Perhaps as time pa.s.sed, they would both forget about this.
After being talked down to like this again, Xiao Yun could only bitterly smile. “I, Xiao Yun, awakened my Martial Spirit when I was 6 years old and stepped into the Body Tempering realm when I was 8 years old. I was called a genius and if not for the fact that I couldn’t cultivate for many years, I wouldn’t still be at this realm.”
“In merely 2 months, I’ve broken through from the Sixth Layer of Body Tempering to the Innate realm and can kill late stage Innate realm cultivators. With enough time, I’ll become a dragon among dragons and will soar and dominate the Nine Heavens. When that time comes, I want you to be my woman!” The youth faced the beautiful G.o.ddess, as he powerfully spoke each word.
These words were in retaliation to the young woman’s arrogant att.i.tude, as well as a promise he made to himself. He wanted this young woman to know that he, Xiao Yun, would not forever remain at the bottom of the cultivation hierarchy.
He was going to soar above the Nine Heavens and become a sovereign! When that time came, would he not have the qualifications?
Seeing the youth make that vow, the woman in white’s body slightly trembled. The youth’s arrogant words didn’t make her feel contemptuous towards him, but instead hopeful and appreciative.
However, the gap between them was simply too difficult to be bridged! Thinking to the gap between them, the waves in her heart died down, for the faction she belonged to was not simple at all! With her status, her decisions were not her own.
“Anyone can say such things; how many people can truly achieve them?” The woman in white’s words continued to be incredibly calm and indifferent. There was not a trace of emotion in her eyes that gazed at Xiao Yun.
“I’ll definitely achieve it.” Xiao Yun’s gaze became serious as his blood boiled, the staunch and unyielding airs of a man radiating out from within him.
“Alright, I’ll give you a chance.” The woman in white’s gaze also became serious as she said, “I’m from the Nine Purity Palace in the Heavenly Capital Domain. If you really have that resolve, you can go there to find me. However, if that day truly comes, you’ll realise how laughable your words are, because in those lands, geniuses like you are as common as the stars. You’re simply an insignificant one of them.”
“Nine Purity Palace? I’ll go to find you,” Xiao Yun said determinedly.
“We’ll see if that day comes.” The woman in white remained calm as she turned, preparing to leave.
“What’s your name?” Xiao Yun asked.
“Nine Purity Palace’s Ling Xi!” The woman in white’s skin was as flawless as jade and her figure was perfect. She seemed to be treading on lotus flowers as she stepped into the air, her clothes fluttering. She looked like a G.o.ddess as she walked into the air, leaving behind her echoing voice as she departed.
“Ling Xi!” Xiao Yun stood at the mouth of the cave, staring at her disappearing figure as a look of resolution appeared in his eyes. “There’ll be a day when I’ll prove to you that I, Xiao Yun, will always keep my vows. When that time comes, you’ll be my woman.”
Within the cave, the youth looked up at the sky as he made one of the most important vows of his life. As the youth spoke to himself, the young woman in the sky couldn’t help but momentarily pause and look back, hoping she could see him one last time.
“Xiao Yun?” The woman in white’s eyes became slightly blurred as she muttered to herself, “If you can’t come to the Heavenly Capital Domain to prove yourself, I’ll treat what happened as a mistake and forget about it.” After saying this, she completely disappeared into the horizon.
There was a sense of hope and expectancy in the young woman’s heart. However, it was a pity that the gap between them was simply too great. Wanting to be together just wasn’t that simple.
After the woman in white had completely disappeared, Xiao Yun gradually calmed down. “I wonder how everything has been at home,” Xiao Yun thought to himself as he prepared to leave. Now that he had stepped into the Innate realm, gained the Violet Flame Martial Spirit and upgraded the Spirit-Destroying Chapter, his journey was essentially over. After collecting his emotions, Xiao Yun began to leave.
“It’s a pair of Violet Foxes! I can catch them to give to lil’ sis Ling’Er and little sister Shi Fei.” After pa.s.sing through a valley, Xiao Yun found a pair of cute, juvenile foxes, which were pitifully looking around. Their parents lay dead beside them.
Seeing how cute these Violet Foxes looked, Xiao Yun decided to bring them away with him. Now that he had reached the innate realm, his speed had become much faster. The trip that had taken him 15 days when he was coming took him just 5 days on his return trip.
Five days later, Xiao Yun finally returned to the Violet Cloud County. It had been 2 months since he had left the Xiao family’s residence.
“I’m finally home.” Xiao Yun felt a sense of intimacy after he stepped back into his home.
Over the 2 months, he had gone through many near-death experiences and had grown much. Of course, he also greatly missed his family.
“I wonder how lil’ sis is doing.” After revelling in these emotions, Xiao Yun immediately thought of his little sister, Ling’Er. Although he had left behind many fire-type medicines, he wasn’t sure if they would be able to suppress her Chilling Qi for 2 months. After all, the Chilling Qi within Ling’Er’s body had recently become more and more terrifying!
“Young master Xiao Yun, you’re back?”
“Young master Xiao Yun, where have you been for the past 2 months?” When Xiao Yun walked into the large courtyard, he was bombarded with questions. There were also some cold harrumphs, which came from some unfriendly-looking people.
“Hmph, this brat disappeared for 2 months. Was it because of Fang Hao’s threats?”
“He was definitely hiding outside.”
“It’s a wonder the old patriarch is so protective of him.” The sounds of discussion continuously came out from various courtyards.
Of course, these people didn’t dare to speak loudly. They all spoke in hushed tones, but with Xiao Yun’s powerful spirit energy, he was easily able to hear these voices. However, he ignored them, and walked in with a calm smile.
Now that he had stepped into the Innate realm, why should he bother to take notice of this mocking? Soon, he would win back his dignity with his fists!
Zhi zhi!
On Xiao Yun’s shoulder, the 2 cute Violet Foxes’ eyes twinkled, looking quite shy. Their fur was completely violet, and had a resplendent sheen to it. Evidently, they were sentient foxes.
“I’m sure lil’ sis will like these foxes.” Xiao Yun looked at the little foxes on his shoulder as a warm smile appeared on his face. Ling’Er had always been lonely since she was young, and she would definitely feel better with a cute fox as her companion. In the blink of an eye, Xiao Yun reached the Martial Arts Grounds, where there were a group of youths training.
“Eh, is that our Genius Xiao?” Seeing Xiao Yun, many of the youths looked over.
“Hmph, he dares to come back after disappearing for 2 months?” Within the crowd, Xiao Cheng looked quite displeased as he walked towards the youth. Behind him, a group of youths slowly followed over.
“Xiao Cheng?” Seeing Xiao Cheng walking over with ill intentions, Xiao Yun slightly frowned. However, he didn’t pay any mind to their provocations, and continued to walk his way.
