Chapter 16 – Supreme Bloodline
Translator: Mr Voltaire
Editor: Phoobiee
Xiao Yun read through the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art, feeling incredibly excited.
With this art, he would definitely be able to surpa.s.s Fang Hao.
After calming himself down, Xiao Yun started to read instructions for cultivating the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art.
Xiao Yun read out loud, “In order to cultivate the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art, one must first temper their body with the Heaven-Devouring Bloodline. Could this pearl be the Heaven-Devouring Bloodline?” Xiao Yun looked over to the bright red pearl within the iron box.
This blood pearl was incredibly red, and after examining it closely, Xiao Yun found that there were thin lines of blood around it. There was also an almost undetectable vortex of swirling air around it, and when Xiao Yun’s mind tried to investigate it, he felt as if his mind was being devoured.
“What a mysterious Heaven-Devouring Bloodline. I wonder where father obtained it from?”
Xiao Yun couldn’t help but lick his lips. “Do I have to swallow this blood pearl before I can cultivate the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art?”
Xiao Yun wasted no time as he carefully picked up the blood pearl that seemed to be beating like a little heart, and squeezed it.
The blood pearl was quite small, and was as big as a soybean. However, when Xiao Yun held it in his hands, he could feel berserk waves of energy, causing his heart to tremble. He felt somewhat frightened, as if he had met an unrivalled expert.
“Will I be alright to swallow this pearl?” A hint of hesitation appeared on his youthful face. If he swallowed such a powerful blood pearl, if the berserk power spiralled out of control, would he be able to withstand it?
However, if he didn’t swallow the blood pearl, it would be incredibly difficult for him to cultivate the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art.
“Since it’s a treasure left behind for me by father, I shouldn’t be worried about swallowing it. Otherwise, wouldn’t I be rejecting his good wishes?” Xiao Yun made up his mind. He was quite young, and felt fear when facing danger. However, when he thought about his father, he became determined.
His grandpa had said that back then, his father had endured his severe injuries to bring him and his little sister to the Violet Cloud County!
Xiao Yun gritted his teeth, opened his mouth, and swallowed the bright red pearl.
As the blood pearl travelled down his throat, a wave of berserk Blood Qi shot throughout the youth’s body.
“Arghhhh!!!”
Xiao Yun inwardly screamed and tightly gritted his teeth. He felt as if there were countless swords piercing within him, and he could feel his flesh being torn. That pain cut into his heart and pierced into his bones, causing him to erupt into sweat.
Under that immense pain, Xiao Yun’s mind became hazy, and he almost fainted.
At this incredibly important moment, his Martial Spirit shot out a jade-green light. The light was that of an immortal’s light bathing him, causing his mind to recover some clarity as his will became determined again. His eyes focused, with a hint of resolution within them. “I must endure!”
As he thought this, Xiao Yun started to activate the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art.
According to the ancient ma.n.u.script, only swallowing the Heaven-Devouring Bloodline gave one the best chance at cultivating the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art. Otherwise, merely cultivating the art would result in it being difficult to cultivate it to completion; it would not reach the level of devouring the heavens and destroying G.o.ds.
Buzz!
Just as Xiao Yun started to use the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art, he felt the berserk Blood Qi within his body being suppressed.
A small vortex appeared within his body, guiding the Blood Qi into his muscles, bones, meridians and cells. As his body was being tempered, Xiao Yun felt that there were ma.s.sive changes happening within his body.
Xiao Yun felt as if he had received a baptism. The impurities within his body had been cleansed by the Blood Qi under the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art’s guidance. His meridians and bones were essentially pure and flawless. He felt incredibly refreshed, as if he had gained a new body.
This sort of baptism spread throughout his body, and the vortex seemed to dissolve the blood pearl, fusing it with this art. Finally, a vortex appeared within Xiao Yun’s dantian.
“Did I succeed?” As he looked at that vortex, Xiao Yun’s tense mind finally relaxed.
Buzz!
As the vortex took shape within his dantian, the black iron tower within the box flew out and shot into Xiao Yun’s dantian. It fused with the vortex, making Xiao Yun quite shocked.
Under the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art’s guidance, his mind entered the iron tower and formed a connection with it.
“Heaven-Devouring Tower!” As his mind connected with the black tower, some information appeared within Xiao Yun’s mind.
Xiao Yun muttered to himself, “This tower is a supreme heaven-devouring item, and has nine layers. Only after cultivating the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art to completion will one be able to follow control this tower! So this tower was connected to the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art as well, and was left behind by father for me.”
After fusing with that blood pearl and the black tower, Xiao Yun continued to cultivate as he read through the ancient ma.n.u.script.
“Heaven-Devouring Chapter and Spirit-Destroying Chapter. So it was split into two arts.” After looking through the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art, Xiao Yun gained some understanding about this art. The Heaven-Devouring referred to devouring all Essence Qi within the heavens and earth, and after cultivating the art to completion, one would be able to devour even mountains.
Of course, that sort of realm was not something the current Xiao Yun could think about.
The Spirit-Destroying referred to using one’s powerful spirit energy to attack someone else’s primordial spirit.
In the early stages of Spirit-Destroying, one would only be able to use their spirit energy to disrupt other people’s minds and hearts. As the cultivator became stronger, they would be able to start using their spirit energy to attack, as well as kill the other person’s spirit. This sort of formless attack could be used as a fatal killing-move.
Now that Xiao Yun had stepped into the First Layer of the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art, he could absorb Heaven and Earth Essence Qi even faster; however, he was far from being able to use his spirit energy to kill enemies.
Despite this, Xiao Yun felt that his senses had been greatly sharpened, and he could even see extremely small things. Xiao Yun looked around and felt as if he was in control of the world.
“As long as I continue to follow this Heaven-Devouring Divine Art and continue cultivating, perhaps I really will be able to devour the heavens and destroy G.o.ds,” Xiao Yun thought to himself. He continued practising the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art, and was very satisfied with his ability to absorb Heaven and Earth Essence Qi. As such, he decided to focus on the Spirit-Destroying, so he could quickly reach the stage of destroying others’ primordial spirits with his spirit energy.
In order to destroy others’ primordial spirits, he needed to have strong enough spirit energy.
The Heaven-Devouring Divine Art was quite amazing, and as Xiao Yun started to activate it, it started to help Xiao Yun gather spirit energy.
Having awoken a Martial Spirit, Xiao Yun’s spirit energy was originally stronger than that of a normal cultivator’s. However, he didn’t know how to circulate it or control it.
However, with the Heaven-Devouring Divine Art, he immediately found a way to circulate it, as if his eyes had been suddenly opened.
As Xiao Yun used the art, he could feel his spiritual sense within his mind becoming stronger and even starting to show signs of concentrating into a single point. Evidently, this was a sign of his spirit energy becoming stronger. After sensing this, Xiao Yun continued to cultivate.
Early the next morning, Xiao Yun opened his eyes under the light of the dawn.
Despite cultivating for an entire day, Xiao Yun didn’t feel tired at all but instead felt full of energy. His eyes gave a piercing feeling as he looked around, as if he was a mighty cheetah, and could control everything around him. His senses were now far from what ordinary people had.
Xiao Yun was filled with confidence. “This Heaven-Devouring Divine Art is not ordinary at all. My senses have become incredibly fine and detailed, which will give me a great edge over enemies. However, my cultivation realm is still too low. If I can’t step into the Innate realm, it’ll be incredibly difficult for me to defeat Fang Hao in 3 months, and I’ll lose the right to join a large sect.
“The Violet Cloud County’s Heaven and Earth Essence Qi is too thin; no matter how great my talent is, it’ll be difficult for me to step from the Eighth Layer of Body Tempering to the Innate realm. Looks like I’ll have to go deep within the Violet Cloud Mountain. Apparently there’s an Essence Vein full of dense Essence Qi.”
Xiao Yun’s top priority was to step into the Innate realm and defeat Fang Hao. Only then would he be able to keep the Xiao family safe.
After thinking for a while, Xiao Yun came to the Xiao family’s Martial Skills Pavilion, preparing to choose some Martial Skills to learn. “There are Innate realm demonic beasts deep within the Violet Cloud Mountain, and sometimes even True Essence realm demonic beasts; I need to make sufficient preparations before going there.”
After entering, Xiao Yun started to go through the Martial Skills.
Cloud Piercing Sword Art!
Xiao Yun’s gaze rested on the big words written on an ancient ma.n.u.script. “What a strange name; is it a Black rank Martial Skill?” Out of curiosity, Xiao Yun opened the ma.n.u.script and started reading it.
Under the heavens, only speed cannot be broken.
A sword that is fast to the extreme, and can break through ten thousand techniques. A single strike to kill the enemy!
“A sword that is fast to the extreme, and can break through ten thousand techniques?” A look of suspicion appeared in Xiao Yun’s eyes, and he shook his head in disbelief.
In this world where martial power was supreme, most experts could destroy mountains and rivers with a single palm; could a sword do the same thing?
However, Xiao Yun quickly realised that his cultivation was still quite low, and he didn’t fully understand what cultivators were capable of. Thinking too much was useless. He shook his head and decided to keep the sword art as he left the Martial Skills Pavilion.
This time, in order to go to the depths of the Violet Cloud Mountain, Xiao Yun needed to learn a sure-kill Martial Skill.
A single strike to kill the enemy!
This Cloud Piercing Sword Art was the best choice.
The Cloud Piercing Sword Art’s initial requirements were quite simple. It could be expressed with a single word - fast! Fast to the extreme!
All slashes, cuts, and other techniques revolved around that single word.
Moreover, in order to become fast, the first thing to do was to continuously practice these normal styles in order to comprehend the word ‘fast’!
Swish! Swish!
Within the courtyard, Xiao Yun continuously struck out with his sword.
He would repeat each simple movement nearly a thousand times, and this went on for a whole 3 days!
As Xiao Yun continuously trained with his sword, a cute and delightful girl elegantly walked over and said, “Big bro, take a rest for a bit.”
“I’m fine.” Xiao Yun didn’t look over, completely absorbed in his training.
About 3 metres away, a mosquito flew away as it buzzed.
“You want to escape?” Xiao Yun’s eyes focused in concentration as he locked onto the mosquito, and pierced it with his sword.
Light flashed as it reflected off the sword; the mosquito was split in two, and fell to the ground.
“Big bro, you’re so strong. Even a mosquito can’t escape from your sword!” Xiao Ling’Er watched in shock.
That mosquito was incredibly small, and was flying away. What sort of senses and speed did he have to be able to cleave it in two?
