Chapter 6

Hai Xiu slightly opened his mouth, after having been startled for a few seconds, he turned around to run to the bathroom.

Feng Fei was speechless. It seemed that Hai Xiu really thought they were going to the clinic..

Hai Xiu came out a minute later, he was very embarra.s.sed to look at Feng Fei's eyes. Feng Fei smirked: "Why haven't you wash your hands? Go wash and go back to the cla.s.sroom."

Hai Xiu obediently washed his hands and asked in a low voice, "You……Did you do that on purpose? To not let me go to the bathroom?"

"Yes ah." Feng Fei was guilty, "…it was on purpose." 

Hai Xiu looked at him with a puzzled expression. Feng Fei felt helpless, it seemed that Hai Xiu didn’t want him to know that he has an illness so Feng Fei could not directly tell him that he was helping him to desensitize.

Feng Fei hesitated for a moment before saying: "That is…I…" he turned around to face Hai Xiu, "I just wanted to tease you because I like you."

There was some distrust in Hai Xiu's eyes. Feng Fei smiled, took a step forward to rub Hai Xiy's head but instead, he patted Hai Xiu's shoulder and said: "It's true. Do I look like I’m bullying you?" 　　

Hai Xiu shook his head. He was more sensitive than any other ordinary people, so he was clear who was insincere and who was really good to him.

"That's it." Feng Fei thought of something, "but we have an agreement ah! If you have something to say, just say it directly to me. You’re not a little girl, so why are you so timid? Those girls who have a crush on me are better at talking to me than you!"  　　

Hai Xiu frowned. He obviously didn’t want Feng Fei to compare him to a little girl but Feng Fei's intentions were good so he nodded.

"Okay…got it."

Feng Fei was satisfied at his response, looked at the time and said: "Okay. I’ll go to the clinic, you go back to the cla.s.sroom first."

"You're… you’re not sick." Hai Xiu wanted Feng Fei to go back to the cla.s.sroom for the lectures, "What are you going to do at the clinic?"

Feng Fei actually wanted to go around the campus, to look at which cla.s.s was in the gym then play basketball a little then go back to the cla.s.sroom. But seeing Hai Xiu's puzzled expression, Feng Fei could only say: "I…I'm going there to get some medicines then go back to the cla.s.sroom."

Hai Xiu made an "Oh" sound and said, "Then I…I'll go with you… let’s talk to the teacher together.…”

Feng Fei did not have the temperament but he must comply. He led the way downstairs with Hai Xiu like an armed officer and went to the clinic, got two boxes of medicine then returned to the cla.s.sroom.

It took them less than ten minutes to go back and forth. Hai Xiu was at ease after relieving himself, so he went back to his seat and listened attentively to the lecture. Because Feng Fei couldn’t play basketball, he was very bored, so had to also listen to the lecture.

The next day on their third period, Feng Fei placed a box of cake on Hai Xiu's desk. The box was bigger than the usual, Hai Xiu was very embarra.s.sed and refused: "Not to say……No…This is too much…"

"Didn't I bully you yesterday?" Feng Fei smirked, "Don't be long-winded. Taste it, it’s chestnut flavor."

Hai Xiu opened the box and saw four pieces of Mont Blanc cake. He lifted the small plastic fork and cut a small piece of the cake, hesitated for a minute and whispered: "You……You don’t want to eat, too?"

T/N: Mont Blanc chestnut cream cake. Mwahahahaha! Suffer with me!

Feng Fei shook his head while smiling. Hai Xiu lowered his head and took a bite. The chestnut cream had clamped the crisp dried fruit, the taste was charming and this Mont Blanc tasted better than the previous cake he had eaten. He really wanted Feng Fei to taste it, so he said: "You… should have a piece of it."

Feng Fei shook his head again, "You eat it and eat the rest at noon."

Hai Xiu gulped and slowly said, "I won't be here at noon today."

"Ah?" Feng Fei raised his eyebrow, "You're going home?"

Hai Xiu shook his head, closed the box and said in a low voice: "I need… to buy something."

Feng Fei did not expect it: "Buy what?"

Hai Xiu answered vaguely: "Buy…To buy something ah."

"I know ah. Buy what?" The more Hai Xiu didn’t say anything, the more curious Feng Fei was. He asked again, "What exactly are you buying?"

Hai Xiu pursed his lips, he really did not want to tell Feng Fei. But Feng Fei clicked his tongue "tsk" and Hai Xiu thought he was angry, so he said: "To buy……something for you."

Feng Fei froze, then the corner of his mouth lifted and asked: "Buy something for me?! What are you buying for me?"

Hai Xiu really did want to keep this a secret but Feng Fei kept on asking him. So he turned around and didn’t look at Feng Fei so he could not ask anymore.

Actually, Feng Fei knew that Hai Xiu was buying something for him. As for what it was, that was of no significance. What was important was that Hai Xiu was buying it for him! For him!

"Hey, hey!" Feng Fei patted Hai Xiu on the back. “Tsk…Why are you ignoring me? Come on, turn around."

Hai Xiu turned around and continued on reading.

Feng Fei asked, "Why do you think of buying me something?"

Hai Xiu answered in a small voice: "You helped me…and you always give me cake. I…"

"What's wrong with that?" Feng Fei raised his eyebrow, "So you’ll buy something for me to be able to pay off?"

Hai Xiu felt that Feng Fei was annoyed so he explained quickly, "It's not……I just want to…"

Hai Xiu's anxious face was red, looking at it made Feng Fei's palm itch, he didn’t wait for the explanation and pinched the kid's cheek. "Okay, I’m just teasing you. Where are you going to eat at noon?"

"Um…I haven’t thought about it yet." Hai Xiu really did not care that much, "I'll think when I come back."

Feng Fei frowned, "Forget it. Just say what you want to buy and I’ll get it. You stay here at noon in school."

Hai Xiu shook his head: "No…"

Seeing his stubborn att.i.tude, Feng Fei lifted his hand to chop Hai Xiu's head, but Hai Xiu quickly drew back away from him so he dropped his hand and scratched his head. "That's okay. Wait for me at noon, I’ll ask my brother to bring the car and I’ll take you there."

Hai Xiu refused more, "No." he suddenly thought of something, "You…don't even have a driver's license."

"I…" Feng Fei suddenly felt irritated, "I don’t have driver's license but I know how to drive. Also, it will be faster if we use a car. Besides, you…" Besides, you have this illness and talking to a stranger would take you half a day.

Hai Xiu shook his head and whispered: "No…I'll go by myself. I have to pick something more."

Feng Fei's heart seemed to have t.i.tillated for a moment, he smiled and asked: "Pick what?"

Hai Xiu still refused to say what Feng Fei was asking. Because he couldn’t withstand what Feng Fei was doing, Hai Xiu covered his ears with his both hands and started reciting the words in his textbook. Feng Fei poked his back several times, and after awhile, pinched his nape. But since he was used to Feng Fei's hara.s.sing habits, he was still motionless.

Feng Fei did not want to go down for the third period, he had a small injury on his foot early this morning and he just wanted to play with Hai Xiu. He knocked on the desk and said: "You're really ignoring me?"

Seeing that Hai Xiu was covering his ears tightly, Feng Fei felt helpless. He got up and stood behind Hai Xiu. Two hands held Hai Xiu's wrists that was using them to cover his own ears. Without much effort, he took down Hai Xiu’s hands. But Hai Xiu still pretended to be deaf and continued on reciting the words. Feng Fei smiled, leaned down and covered the text book with his hand.

This posture from the back looked like Feng Fei was embracing Hai Xiu. Feng Fei threatened to say: "Say it. If you don’t, I won’t let you read the book."

Hai Xiu shook his head. As he moved, his hair brushed against Feng Fei's chin. Feng Fei's eyes squinted slightly, unaware of how ambiguous their position was.

The third period was over, their cla.s.smates went upstairs one after another. Feng Fei returned to his own sit and exclaimed: "You are bad…" although his words were kinda ruthless, Feng Fei's mood was actually very good. He attended the cla.s.s with his mouth perked up.

Hai Xiu did not stay in the school at noon to eat meal or read a book, but went out to buy a gift for him!

It was more satisfying than the two or three points he got when playing basketball.

He tried to confirm it again when Hai Xiu was about to go: "I really don’t have to send you?"

Hai Xiu just smiled and took his schoolbag away.

The cla.s.sroom was now empty and Feng Fei was very bored. He took Hai Xiu's textbook, flipped it over then went to the gym to stroll for awhile. He sat on the parallel bars to eat lunch, he haven’t even finished eating when the school's basketball team saw him.

They pulled him to play but Feng Fei frowned, "Don't want to play."

"What's the matter?" the captain asked, the ball was tucked on his elbow. "Your foot still not okay?"

"Too lazy to play." Feng Fei jumped off of the parallel bars and started walking towards the cla.s.sroom, "I'll go back and read a book."

His teammates looked at each other. What happened to Feng Fei?

Feng Fei was indeed too lazy to play basketball at the moment. His thoughts were all over about Hai Xiu.

Feng Fei returned to the cla.s.sroom, getting irritated upon seeing Hai Xiu’s desk as he suddenly thought that Hai Xiu was doing it on purpose. If Hai Xiu wanted to give something, then say so! Why was there a need to hide and caused him to feel unease.

He sat on Hai Xiu’s seat, conveniently forgetting that it was never Hai Xiu who lied to him, but he himself who kept pushing, resulting in what Hai Xiu had said.

Feng Fei suddenly wanted to throw Hai Xiu’s desk outside in order to scare him, but thinking so made him feel annoyed. If anyone dared to touch Hai Xiu’s desk, he would slice them in half!

After thinking so much, Feng Fei started guessing what kind of thing Hai Xiu would give him. Chocolate? Snow globe? Feng Fei shook his head…Not that. Those were what the girls bought when they confessed to him. What else could it be then? Sneakers? Basket ball? Feng Fei felt a little embarra.s.sed, afterall they were all expensive.

Feng Fei had observed Hai Xiu these past few days and knew that Hai Xiu's family condition was okay.  But he did not know if Hai Xiu's mother was giving him pocket money. If the money wasn’t that much, how would Hai Xiu buy water if the money was all gone?

Feng Fei suddenly thought of something. If Hai Xiu really spent all his pocket money, then came back at physical education and needed to buy water… Was he going to borrow money from him?

Feng Fei really wished to see Hai Xiu's red face getting embarra.s.sed to borrow money from him. Thinking here, Feng Fei's unhappy mood quickly disappeared. He looked at Hai Xiu's textbook and thought that he would forget and forgive him this time.

Feng Fei rested his head down the table and took a nap while waiting for Hai Xiu to come back.

The first period in the afternoon would be after two hours.

In the afternoon before the first period, the cla.s.sroom was almost full, but Hai Xiu hadn't come back yet. Feng Fei was feeling irritated, he regretted listening to Hai Xiu. He should have gone with him.

He couldn’t even sit still. He stood and leaned against the cla.s.sroom's backdoor, waiting for Hai Xiu. Several girls pa.s.sing by outside were blushing and talking in whispers, Feng Fei's face became more and more heavy. The physics teacher have arrived but Hai Xiu still haven’t!

The physics teacher took the lesson plan, after looking at Feng Fei, he said: "Feng Fei, what are you doing there?!"

Feng Fei was annoyed but he did not look when he said: "The cla.s.s hasn’t started yet."

The teacher indignantly walked to the podium to prepare for the cla.s.s while Feng Fei looked at the time, there was still five minutes before the cla.s.s started.

And when there was still three minutes left, Hai Xiu finally arrived.

Feng Fei gave the backdoor a nasty bash. If Hai Xiu was any later by a few minutes, he would find him by himself.

Apparently, Hai Xiu ran all the way up so his face was red and he was out of breath. His eyes lit up when he saw Feng Fei and quickly ran over to him, his breathing was not steady: "Finally…I'm not late…"

"You…" Feng Fei turned around to look at the cla.s.sroom, he knitted his brows and said: "Go back to your seat first!"

Hai Xiu smiled and nodded, carrying his bulging school bag to his eat, Feng Fei followed behind him. The school bell rang and the teacher began lecturing.

Hai Xiu was still feeling excited as he handed his bag to Feng Fei, and said in a low voice: "This…I'm giving this to you."

Feng Fei looked at the beads of sweats on Hai Xiu's forehead and he didn’t know what to say. But his heart knew that no matter what Hai Xiu gave to him, he would cherished it for a lifetime. 

Feng Fei took the bag, his hand dropped down and his heart followed.… The bag weighed five to six kilograms. This… what did Hai Xiu buy for him?!

He looked at Hai Xiu's slender arms. He couldn’t bear it, this silly kid……

Feng Fei breathed out, his heart unconsciously sped up as he slowly opened the school bag. Then his face suddenly stiffened.

Hai Xiu was looking forward at Feng Fei, he whispered: "You…Do you like it?"

Feng Fei said blankly: "I…so f.u.c.king like…" 

In Hai Xiu's schoolbag, there were codes of ten brand new counselling books on top of a five-year college entrance examination, three years simulation, solemn and sacred exudes, academic glory.
