Chapter 3
Feng Fei watched as Hai Xiu left he office. The smile on the corner of his lips gradually deepened as he casually said: "Then I’ll go back to the cla.s.sroom…" He wanted to go out to run after the kid.
Because he suddenly thought that Hai Xiu was too interesting.
"Wait." Ni Mei Lin put down the pen on her hand then said sternly, "There is something I want to tell you."
Feng Fei nodded absentmindedly, "En?"
Ni Mei Lin said: "It's about Hai Xiu."
Feng Fei turned around and looked at Ni Mei Lin, "What about him?"
Ni Mei Lin seemed to hesitate at first, then said: "To be honest, I was surprised when he ran up to here. This should be…the first time he came to talk to me for a long time. The first time to take the initiative to find someone else to talk to."
Ni Mei Lin herself was not sure if telling Feng Fei about Hai Xiu's situation was a good idea. But this matter truly surprised her. After a moment of silence, Ni Mei Lin said: "You need to keep secret what I’m about to say…"
When Feng Fei came out from Ni Mei Lin's office, the next cla.s.s had already began for twenty minutes. His mood was uncertain as he knocked on the door to inform the teacher but the teacher beckoned him with his hand to not to interrupt the lecture. Feng Fei went to his seat and looked out of the window.
Feng Fei didn’t know how long it took him to come back to his senses, he took out his cellphone, opened the browser and wrote two words: social phobia.
(TN: It was actually written in five words: 社交恐惧症。But in english, it's only two words.)
Half an hour ago, in Ni Mei Lin's office.
"Fear of what?" Feng Fei did not understand what he had heard. He frowned, "No…he is afraid of whom?"
Ni Mei Lin shook her head, "Not afraid of who, this is an illness, in mental aspects…No, it's psychological."
Feng Fei's eyebrows screwed up, "Tell me the truth, I won’t tell anyone."
Ni Mei Lin sighed and rubbed the skin between her eyebrows, "To tell you the truth, I didn’t know about his illness before. I only found out after a rough query about his condition. I’m not sure about some of its problems, but his illness can definitely be cured. Moreover, the shorter the period of the illness, the greater the chance of it being cured. So an early effective treatment is the best."
Feng Fei asked: "When did he get this illness?"
Ni Mei Lin was not sure as she answered: "I think……three or four years ago."
In Hai Xiu's file, it was marked as a misconduct but Ni Mei Lin did not know if he had the illness already by that time.
"Although I’m not quite sure if he had undergone any systemic therapy¹, or if he did but it was not very effective. This illness……a lot of people does not attach great importance to it, like depression. It is like when people think you’re happy but its actually not the case." Ni Mei Lin had a headache after saying that, "And Hai Xiu……he seems quite obedient, but he basically refused any treatment. I talked to him and found out that he is conflicted in interacting with others, this is one of the symptoms of that illness……That kid wants to live in a way that he thinks is safe for him, but he needs to grow up and starts communicating with the world."
Ni Mei Lin looked at Feng Fei, "But just a moment ago…I was surprised that he took the initiative to talk to me."
But the reason was because Hai Xiu did not want her to misunderstand Feng Fei.
Feng Fei nodded, looking pensive. "I see."
"I'm not gonna ask you to take up your time to help him…" Ni Mei Lin explained, "I just hope that you can communicate with him, no too deliberate. Do you understand my point?"
Feng Fei nodded, "I understand."
Feng Fei turned around and started walking, he opened the door, but suddenly turned around to look at Ni Mei Lin. "Can you tell me……where was Hai Xiu's junior highschool?
Ni Mei Lin frowned, "Why do you want to know?"
He shrugged, "Curiosity."
"It is in Huai Ning Yizhong." Ni Mei Lin said.
Feng Fei went out of the office
Ni Mei Lin stared at the office's door, her heart was indifferent. She remembered that someone in Feng Fei's family was working in the Department of Education, and she heard that the position was not low.
Ni Mei Lin let out a self-deprecating smile and lowered her head to continue her work.
In the third year cla.s.s seven cla.s.sroom, on the second floor, Feng Fei threw his phone inside his school bag and leaned on his seat to look at Hai Xiu.
He initially understood Hai Xiu's illness and knew that Hai Xiu volunteering to go upstairs to explain was not easy.
Feng Fei changed his position and continued on staring at Hai Xiu. He could not also imagine how a clever student hit a teacher with a chair.
That teacher probably insulted Hai Xiu's mother. Feng Fei raised his eyebrow. Well, if anyone dared to disrespect one’s own mother, they probably would have done the same thing.
He was not a nosy person, but he still wanted to listen to Ni Mei Lin and starts trying to communicate with Hai Xiu.
Feng Fei smiled as he looked at Hai Xiu's lowered head, even without knowing the case, he would probably still tease Hai Xiu. This kid was too amusing.
After cla.s.s, Feng Fei went out of the cla.s.sroom while holding his cellphone. He looked for a secluded place to make a phone call to his relative who’s working in the provincial Department of Education.
After making the phone call, Feng Fei went to the bathroom and when he came out, he met Hai Xiu whose head was down Feng Fei's eyes lit up, before he arrived in front of Hai Xiu, his lips hooked up into a smile, "Why did you go to the office awhile ago?"
Hai Xiu was about to head inside the bathroom when he heard Feng Fei, he was startled and stammered: "N-No……it's nothing……"
"Nothing? But you went to the office?" Feng Fei was blocking the way. Watching Hai Xiu, his smile was filled with evil intention: "Were you going to find me?"
Hai Xiu retreated two steps backward and whispered: "Nothing……You…Don't get in the way. I'm going to……"
Seeing Hai Xiu instinctively retreating, Feng Fei closed the distance between them to stick himself to Hai Xiu and asked, "Going to do what?"
Hai Xiu's body suddenly stiffened. Feng Fei was very tall, 1.86 meter stood in front of a 1.75 meter Hai Xiu. There was not much difference in height, but because of his close proximity, Hai Xiu could almost feel the vibration on Feng Fei's chest when he was speaking. His face turned pale and he tried to speak clearly, "I'm going to relieve myself…"
Feng Fei saw Hai Xiu's complexion changed, so he took steps backward. With his arm leaning on the washbin, he nodded: "Go ahead."
Hai Xiu bit his lower lip then whispered, "You… aren’t you going…?"
Feng Fei could not help laughing, "This is a public toilet. Am I not allowed to stand here?"
Hai Xiu did not say anything, he was afraid that once he comes out, the boy would still be here. So, in a timid manner, he went inside one of the cubicle.
Feng Dei smiled, it was obvious that Hai Xiu was afraid, but he was calm on the surface. Thinking back to what he had found in the internet, Feng Fei could not help but somewhat admire Hai Xiu a little, he was a very self-respect person. He did not want to let others see the difference between himself and other normal people. Therefore, he was controlling himself diligently. In the internet, it said that they would feel nausea, dizziness, vomiting and tremors….those were the symptoms that Hai Xiu should have, but Hai Xiu was either so good at disguising himself or taking care of it.
Hai Xiu clearly did not want others to see his antics.
Feng Fei was still pondering when Hai Xiu came out. Hai Xiu saw that the boy was still there and his facial expression was unnatural, hesitated to come near. Feng Fei's heart was disappointed, the kid obviously wanted to wash his hands, but did not want to approach him.
Feng Fei felt helpless, so he gave enough s.p.a.ce and said: "You go wash, I’ll go out."
But as he was about to go out, he suddenly turned around to look at Hai Xiu, "Why did you not call my name? What’s my name?"
Hai Xiu's heart thumped, his face turned whiter.
Feng Fei was appalled, "You!"
Hai Xiu retreated, he was a little afraid to look at Feng Fei.
"Come on, you……" Feng Fei's mind suddenly had an idea then he smiled, "You wash your hands. Wash them well."
Feng Fei went out of the bathroom, Hai Xiu instantly relaxed and went to the wash bin to wash his hands.
Feng Fei glanced at Hai Xiu before leaving, Did this relieve him? So you don’t want to be next to me that much?
His eyes had a glint of evilness. He did not go back to the cla.s.sroom, instead of that, he walked quickly to the fourth floor.
After Hai Xiu washed his hands, his mood had become a lot better. Although today was a little unexpected, but overall, it was all good.…Hai Xiu was frustrated but he needed to go back to the cla.s.sroom to look at the name. This person's name must be remembered.
He entered the cla.s.sroom and returned to his seat. After wiping his hands, he opened the notebook and saw the name, the boy was originally called Feng Fei.
He earnestly wrote the two words, intending to write it for ten times, so he wouldn’t forget the name.
Feng Fei returned to the cla.s.sroom and saw Hai Xiu lying on the table, the little darling was writing his name.
His heart suddenly softened.
He arrived in front of Hai Xiu and said with a smile: "Hey!"
Hai Xiu looked up then subconsciously covered his notebook. Feng Fei laughed, "No need to cover it. I have already seen it earlier. You were writing my name?"
Hai Xiu was a little embarra.s.sed, but he still nodded. Feng Fei's voice unconsciously softened, "Oh I told you…"
Hai Xiu looked up to listen attentively, Feng Fei's eyes lit up and said: "I went to find Teacher Ni and told her that I want to share a table with you. The teacher agreed. Come, I’ll move your table."
Hai Xiu's eyes instantly widened: "Ah?!"
Systemic therapy seeks to identify deeply entrenched patterns within an individual’s relationships and also with family members. The process helps to uncover the ways in which members communicate and behave within a system, based on beliefs about their respective roles. Systemic therapy is used to explore a range of issues, including depression, substance abuse, anxiety disorders, panic disorders, PTSD, eating disorders, body-image issues, relationship issues and low self-esteem.
