"I may not look like much right now, but I will have you know that I was once a very famous wandering a.s.sa.s.sin who was feared by many empires of the human race as well as those not of the human race." the shadowy figure continued speaking to Tommy as he got closer to him.

"You were an a.s.sa.s.sin? How can that be when you are presenting yourself so openly to me now?" Tommy asked the shadowy figure still unsure what to believe in this moment.

"As an a.s.sa.s.sin, I lived a harsh life. I was feared by many, but the only way I earned respect was from completing my jobs. You see, many years ago a.s.sa.s.sins would be hired in droves when powerful ent.i.ties wanted to battle it out for supremacy."

"By hiring someone like myself, the leaders of clans or schools or other major powers were able to shield themselves from losing their reputation by personally dealing with others either on the same level of political power or those who were growing far too rapidly."

"My reputation truly started to grow when I created my own a.s.sa.s.sin guild in a remote region in this world. With my personal disciples training their own students to take on the smaller jobs that those with a lower cultivation could succeed in, I was left for the bigger and harder jobs."

"Many figures in this world who held some level of power whether by controlling trade routes, ruling over many commoners in a city, or even that had strong ties in the black markets, would hire me personally to take on jobs to take out their compet.i.tors."

"After my first fifty years, I helped many strong powers create solid foundations, to the point where they would send me and my students gifts every year that were not just a continuation of business. Weapons, cultivation resources, among many other things were given to my guild and so we continued to prosper as well."

"However, that is when everything started to change. One day, all of my guild's clients were meeting with one another and though that I would be unable to find this out. The point of their meeting was to somehow take my guild out of the picture since we ourselves were becoming a threat to them with our own influence and power."
