Chapter 945: The Fierce Xu Xiaoxiao
....Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“Xiaoxiao, what did you just say? I’m your cousin, yet you dare to talk about me like that. I didn’t even mention you! Your behaviour today was unacceptable. How could a man treat a woman like that? You’ve disgraced all men.”
Liang Shuzhen gasped and instinctively took a step back, feeling that things had taken a turn for the worse.
She hadn’t antic.i.p.ated Zhou Nini’s intense reaction. Perhaps she wouldn’t argue with her, or she might simply be too lazy to engage. But Xu Xiaoxiao was different. He wouldn’t spare you just because you were a woman. He had no mercy, not even for family.
“Zhou Nini.” Zhou Hengguang’s gaze turned icy, his tone stern as he rebuked,
“Don’t test my patience with your nonsense!”
“You… Third Big Brother, I’m your blood sister, your cousin. How can you say such things about me?” Zhou Nini felt utterly wronged. Why was it that other brothers doted on their younger sisters, yet hers not only failed to dote on her but even sided with outsiders?
“Third Big Brother, I’m your real sister! Su Duoduo and Su Yao are just random girls!”
Before Zhou Nini could finish her sentence, Xu Xiaoxiao lifted her like a chick and tossed her into the newly dug pool in Zhou Hengguang’s courtyard. The pool was filled with water, and it was late autumn. Zhou Nini landed with a splash, instantly becoming a soaked rat.
“Help, help! Save me, Shuzhen.” Zhou Nini swallowed some water, shivering from the cold. Fear and regret gripped her as she struggled to stay afloat.
Liang Shuzhen wanted to rush over to help, but Xu Xiaoxiao stood by the pool, his handsome face appearing almost lifeless under the dim light. He watched coldly as Zhou Nini floundered and cried out for help.
Terrified, Liang Shuzhen dared not intervene.
“Third brother, I was wrong! I won’t do it again. Please save me.” Zhou Nini sobbed, her voice hoa.r.s.e as she thrashed about in the water.
Zhou Hengguang’s indifference sent chills down everyone’s spine.
Liang Shuzhen’s teeth chattered uncontrollably. Zhou Hengguang’s gaze seemed to pierce through her, and she felt as though she were already dead. In sheer panic, she turned and fled without a backward glance.
“What’s going on with the director?” Ji Fang, who had been waiting nearby, heard the commotion and hurried over to inquire.
“Go down and get her out.” Zhou Hengguang pointed at the swimming pool.
“Got it!” Ji Fang agreed, hastily removing his coat before leaping into the pool to haul Zhou Nini out. It was indeed more of a ‘haul’ than a rescue.
Once Zhou Nini was back on dry land, she collapsed, wailing in distress. Xu Xiaoxiao was thoroughly annoyed. “Stop crying. If you cry again, I’ll throw you back in.”
“I won’t cry anymore.” Zhou Nini immediately silenced herself, too terrified to utter another sound.
“Su Duoduo and Su Yao are my sisters. If I hear any more slander about them, you’ll regret it.” Zhou Hengguang’s threat sent shivers down Zhou Nini’s spine.
“Did you hear me?”
“I heard you. I promise I won’t do it again.”
“Humph!” Xu Xiaoxiao, still seething with anger, abruptly left without waiting for Ji Fang to escort him home.
Only when the sound of the car had faded did Zhou Nini dare to speak again. “Third Big Brother…”
“Don’t cry. Where’s your friend?” Zhou Hengguang squatted down, his expression unreadable.
It was only then that Zhou Nini realized Liang Shuzhen had left her when she cried for help. Disappointed, she replied, “She left..”
