Chapter 50:Crisis
Lin feng lived in the middle of Nanshan base, thus the distance between the hospital and his house was not far. It was also midnight thus the road was completely empty. Stepping on the gas, Lin Feng drove there as fast as possible; minutes later they were at the hospital.
Compared to Zhanlang base, the facilities in Nanshan’s hospital was much more better. This was mainly due to Nanshan being a sizeable city before. Also due to being protected by various mountains, the buildings in Nanshan were maintained very well with minimal zombie interference.
There were originally three hospitals within the city, due to the lack of medical supplies the resources of the three were pooled together within a single main hospital. With a population of three hundred thousand, clearly a single hospital would not be sustainable. Though, the medical supplies could not be as easily replenished like before. Most people would be lucky enough to even pay a visit to the doctors.
The main hospital has three different buildings, one was to treat people who do not stay overnight in the hospital; outpatients. This building had three floors, these were to treat those with minor illnesses and the general public. Another building was the emergency ward, for the serious life threatening situations. The last was for the regular patients who have to stay within the hospital.
The way Nanshan and Zhanlang treats their citizens were much more different, in Nanshan it was a much more fair system and more laxed towards cultivators. While Zhanlang’s base cultivators were strictly monitored by the base.
For the ordinary, with sufficient money they would be able to afford good amenities. As for medicine, the scarcity caused the prices to inflate extremely. Therefore, unless it was their last resort people would not be admitted into the hospital.
There is however no such thing as complete fairness, this was just how the way the world works. Without money, no matter which base life would be extremely tough. Nanshan base an advantage that is their vast amounts of crops. So the rations and food given to ordinary people were higher in quality compared to other bases. Though not enough to eat their fill everyday, but was a much better improvement compared to the moldy bread in Zhanlang base.
To be comfortable, money was needed. The only choice other choice was to survive on daily rations alone.
The car drove into the hospital, Lin Feng directly stopped the car outside the emergency building. Due to the ma.s.sive loss of blood, Ling Tian was already unconscious.
Disregarding the blood, Lin Feng carried Ling Tian up. Lin Feng did not expect such an incident to happen just on the first day where he was taking care of Ling Tian. If Ling Tian were to succ.u.mb to his injures now, he wouldn’t have words to say.
There were many people within the hospital, a constant stream of people were walking in and out.
Quickly a.s.sessing the environment while holding onto Ling Tian, there were numerous people with arm and leg injuries. Lin Feng quickly went to the registration counter with Ling Tian in tow.
“Eh, do you not see the queue? Get back in the queue, we are trying to work.”
Lin Feng was trying to jump the queue when a young man wearing a white coat shouted at him.
Lin Feng did not really want to jump the queue, if everyone at the hospital followed his actions then it would just be a complete rowdy mess. However, with this life threatening wound, he had to make an exception. Also he judged that most of the patients queuing up did not have any life threatening injury
“We have a seriously injured person, please pardon my rudeness”
Seeing that the other person might be a doctor, Lin Feng did not want to offend a potential candidate who could treat Lin Tian’s wounds. Thus, he humbled himself and replied.
“This is part of the rules, how dare you be so unscrupulous.”
That young man wanted to drag Lin Feng back to the queue at any cost.
“This esteemed doctor, the child’s injury is visibly life threatening. Why not let him go first.”
The surrounding crowd could smell the thick scent of blood leaking down, as well as see large amounts of blood on Lin Feng’s shirt.
“Right, the child is about to die. Compared to me having a hole in my palm which only needs to st.i.tches and it would be fine.”
There were some people who still had some sympathy and decided to help.
“No way. You need to follow the rules, for those who come to the hospital which don’t need treatment? It’s your problem now.”
Hearing the doctor’s stubborn words, no matter what others say he insisted that Lin Feng line up.
“F*ck Off!”
Lin Feng originally did not want to resort to violence but after hearing the words of this disgusting person, he raised his leg and kicked him in rage.
Of course hospital rules need to be followed, but in this situation forcing Lin Feng to queue was just too much.
As for doctors, their medical ethics which state “to save a patient who can be saved”. His actions was now completely contradicting it.
That young doctor was actually previously a nurse in training and now that after two years he had become a doctor he liked to put on airs around other people. While seeing that Lin Feng was trying to “break” the rules, he saw it as an opportunity to abuse his powers.
He did not think Lin Feng would a.s.sault him directly, though Lin Feng did not use his much of his force but an ordinary person would not able to withstand the force from a cultivator’s kick. The doctor was sent flying across the room before colliding with the wall. Not even half a day was enough for him to be able to move his muscles again.
“I’m sorry for troubling you but this child has been shot and is seriously injured. Please help me find a proper doctor.”
Walking over to the registration counter, Lin Feng calmly asked.
The nurse was scared speechless, but looking at Lin Feng’s expression she nervously went to work.
Everyone in the room was completely speechless, they were still processing what had just happened in their brains.
“Help, MURDERER!”
The doctor which Lin Feng kicked was lying down on the floor and shouting like a pig before being slaughtered. His shouting echoed within the empty hall.
“What is going on here?”
A middle aged man wearing a white coat as well as a stethoscope with slightly chubby features came out of the room next door.
