Minhyun tried to control the turmoil in his head. He needed to find a solution. Fast.
It was clear that Jaemin was not going to leave this room without shooting a single bullet. His aim was not money but death. Ultimately, he wanted revenge in some way and in this particular situation, he wanted to ruin Minhyun through the death of Yoona.
And Minhyun had a feeling that Jaemin would kill himself afterwards.
No matter how hard he would try, there was no way he could change Jaemin's mind about killing Yoona. After all, in Jaemin's shoes, this was the best revenge he could obtain.
But taking in the factor that Jaemin was restless and hisblood-thirst he had towards him, Minhyun could use this to his advantage. Yes. A plan formed in his head.
"The girl that you love?" Minhyun said. "Wasn't your whole relationship a lie?"
Jaemin's smile turned crooked. "You can't fake a love like ours."
Minhyun had a general idea to why Jaemin committed the actions he did despite his s.a.d.i.s.tic love for Yoona. However, he wanted to lead this conversation to a single point. "But you threw her away during your first anniversary. Why?"
"Do I need to tell you?" Jaemin asked. He pressed the cold metal back against Yoona's temple. She whimpered and bit her lip. "Why waste time telling you."
"Because. You're planning on making this a tragic death aren't you? A lover's suicide? If you want to make this legacy, I want to know what your last words are. The reason to why your going this far when you don't even love her."
Jaemin smirked. "You really curious?"
Minhyun's eyes narrowed. Jaemin was playing with him. If he said yes, then Jaemin wouldn't tell him to agitate him. If he were to say no, then the conversation would've been useless.
"No. I just need confirmation. You wanted to control her right? From dating her, you felt like she could disappear from your grasps at any moment. Yoona's a beautiful girl. There is no doubt that someone else will fall in love with her and potentially take her from your hands. That's why, by making her life miserable, you wanted to become the single pillar to lean on. To make her realize that you are the only person that could bring her safety and make her so desperate so that she wouldn't be able to live without you."
Jaemin laughed. He was pleasantly surprised. "To think that you got it so easily. Perhaps, we are not too different."
Minhyun fought his anger. How dare this b.a.s.t.a.r.d say such words? They were completed different.
"But there's a single thing i'm confused about," Minhyun began. "Why would you go through these lengths when you're known for being heartless when it comes to girls. What made you obsessed with her to the point of thinking of this plan?"
There was a pause. "You love her because she reminds you of Jihee right?"
This twisted love. It all made sense. Jaemin felt strong emotions towards Jihee. Whether it be hate or love, he wasn't sure. And if it was love, was it romantic or familial love? He couldn't make out an answer. However, what he could figure out was that Jaemin did admire Jihee. He viewed her as perfect as everyone else. Yet, she was too perfect for him to handle, seeing that her existence was tarnishing his chance as head. She was too independent.
In his world, he had everything under control. Except for her. That was what irked him.
Upon meeting someone who reminded him of his dead sister, how would he react? A girl who looks different yet holds the same beautiful heart and traits? A Jihee that doesn't interfere with his position?
In response to this, he glamorized Yoona.
And the reason to why encouraged Jaeun to make Yoona's life miserable all made sense. He wanted to erase that independent side of Yoona, making her into someone he could control. If he were to control Yoona, it would be similar to him controlling his own sister. This was a form of power he desired.
Was this true love? Was it familial love? Or was it a twisted obsession? Minhyun had no idea what to paint it as.
Perhaps, this was another form of oedipus complex, a psychoa.n.a.lytic theory where Sigmund Freud theorized that children have an unconscious s.e.xual desire for their opposite-s.e.x parent. Except in this case, Jihee was the sister and this moved onto Yoona. He didn't believe in Freud's words, but this was the only textbook answer he could make out of this situation.
But there was no reason for Minhyun to dive deeper into this sicko's heart. He didn't want to find out.
All he needed was to find Jaemin's weak points to shift the focus on him.
"Do you think i'm psychotic?" Jaemin asked.
"Yes."
Jaemin chuckled. "Maybe I am... Do I love her because she reminds me of Jihee? The perfect sister who I would call my second half? Perhaps. But don't paint me as some mentally crazy b.a.s.t.a.r.d. These two girls are different. I hated Jihee."
Minhyun was getting somewhere. "How so?"
"Jihee? Do you really think she was an angel? Perhaps she was in the eyes of others. She gave off the illusion that she had wings, but if you truly looked at her heart, she was evil. A devil in disguise. Behind her smile she was plotting to take my spot and to ruin Jaeun's life. That b.i.t.c.h stayed silent when Jaeun was abused and purposely chose the same activities as me to show that she was better. She even intervened and tried to seduce the head so that she could be special."
A dry laugh escaped his lips. "That's why she's so similar to me. She knows how to play her cards. But that is what I hated about her. If she only stayed being the angel, none of this would've happened."
"Yoona. She's the face, the angelic mask, that Jihee put on. For people like us, isn't she the perfect person to fill the emptiness in our hearts? The smile that lights up our lives. She's Jihee, but without the evil. The true perfect being. One that I would've been able to control in my hands. Or so she was..."
Minhyun was right. If he boiled down Jaemin's words, in the end, what the boy wanted was power over his sister and Yoona was the victim of this.
Jaemin sent Minhyun a sneer. "Until you tainted her. You changed her from the angel."
Minhyun smirked. This was his chance. The anger within Jaemin was already building up... He just needed something to make it explode.
"I did," he said. A smirk filling his face. "And in many different ways."
Jaemin widened his eyes before tightening his grip around Yoona. "You slept with him??"
Yoona winced from the pain. "I-I"
"Let me ask you this again. Do you love her?" Minhyun asked, interrupting Jaemin's train of thought. He tried not to grit his teeth after seeing the pain Yoona was going through. He wanted to tell her to wait just a little longer.
It would be in a matter of time before Jaemin aimed the gun at him.
His words worked. Jaemin faced him again. "I love her."
"But she loves me." Minhyun took a confident step forward. "You're talking about how Yoona is the perfection Jihee strove to be and the angel that you want to possess however, have you never applied this narrative to us?"
Checkmate.
The CEO c.o.c.ked his head, a mocking smile appearing on his lips. "Do you not realize that I am the devil you have been trying to become? Isn't it funny? You're a manipulator, able to play with people's hearts to even make them murder. You're handsome, smart, and had a company almost in the palm of your hands. Yet, it all was lost, just like Jihee lost her life."
"But me? MH is the largest and most successful company in Korea and aiming to be the top of the world. I'm everything you couldn't be."
Minhyun laughed. "Isn't it really funny? Seeing our positions? Plus I got the girl. And even if you kill Yoona, I still have more a.s.sets than you would have in your life."
Anger. Jealousy. Hate. Riled up in Jaemin's chest. This f.u.c.ker... What was he trying to say? That he was nothing but dead compared to Minhyun? Blood thirst began to take over his vision. How dare he say this to him? Although he lost everything now, he shouldn't receive these words.
He was Moon Jaemin...
But this man, was Chae Minhyun. Someone who was blessed with all the riches in his life. It was true. Even if Yoona died, Minhyun would still have all the treasures in the world...
Without him realizing himself, Jaemin's gun lifted up. Within milliseconds, a bullet was shot, straight to Minhyun's heart.
BANG.
