Two weeks later, Leah jumped out of bed with a zing in her step. She'd been seeing Erik for two weeks now, two weeks worth of some serious working out. In and out of bed. If she had a pulse it would quicken when she thought of him and that brought with it some really troubling issues.

He's human, human, human. She gnawed her nail as she stepped on the scale. She knew before she even put a toe on it, what the results would be. She was averaging anywhere from one to five pounds a boff. She'd figured it out the other night. Each time she and Erik did the wild thing, she lost weight. That had to be it. The one night he wasn't able to drop by, she'd gotten on the scale the next morning and nothing. Boffing a human was making her skinny. When she was done with the happy dance, she'd realized something else. Erik didn't know why she put him off for dates in the afternoon, why she wouldn't go rollerblading with him.

"I did a human," Leah paused and waited for her friend Patty's outburst. She held the phone from her ear and tapped her newly polished nails on the countertop. Leah winced at the string of expletives. Oh, now that was quite a word, she didn't know Patty had it in her.

Leah sighed loudly at her friend's question. "No. He does not know I'm a vampire, though, I think he may begin to wonder why we can't do lunch sometime soon."

"No, I will not break it off. I'm getting the schtupping of a lifetime and I'm loving it. Hear me, Patty? I will not listen to these silly vampires who want to rule my life. Leah smiled at the phone. Among other things... "Look, I called for support not a tongue-lashing, okay? If you don't want to be supportive then don't."

"Don't you dare hang up this phone on me in a huff, Leah Adams!" She heard Patty sigh loudly into the phone. "I want to be supportive, I do, but when your father finds out you are going to be in so much trouble it'll make that vampire head of yours spin. You know how he feels about humans."

Well, there was that. Leah shuddered. Tough s.h.i.t, I ain't givin' him up, not while I'm turning into Tyra Banks.

"So I'll just toy with him 'til I get him out of my system and then I'll dump him." At least until I'm one hundred and ten pounds, anyway.

Oh, so what? "Well, I'm toying this time, okay? It's not serious, I promise." She felt a pang of guilt over those words. They weren't true at all, if she were honest with herself. And he had become important. She was having a hard time remembering what life was like before him.

Patty snorted into the phone. "Humans smell, how can you stand it?"

"Oh, they do not. Look, I'm having a great time, the best I've had in like centuries, so lay off and let me have a little fun."

"Sure, Leah, I'll lay off while you get laid and just ask for trouble."

Leah hung up the phone before Patty could poke another hole in her erotic bubble. This wasn't serious, just some serious s.e.x.

Erik's gut clenched as he soaped his chest. She was getting to him in ways he never expected and he wanted to do something about it.

"Let's move in together."

Leah pushed out of Erik's arms and looked into his eyes. He was serious. They were sitting on her couch watching a movie when he sprang it on her.
