Try to do that task daily as consistency is crucial when you're trying to make a habit automatic. After about a month, you'll feel inclined to finish that task as it is already ingrained into your mind.

But you need be careful about what kind of habits you want to create, as breaking a habit is incredibly hard. That's why there are still so many smokers out even though they know about the health risks. They might want to stop but it's just not that easy.
