Chapter 2, Part 2: Grandmother
As they just walked to the outside of the inner hall, she heard a cute and lovely voice, "Grandmother, your seventy birthday is in half a month's time. Granddaughter personally made a hood for you, if the needlework is not good, please don't dislike it.
Old Madam Ling's laughter can be heard outside, "Xian jie-er personally made it for me, I won't dislike it."
Ling Jing Shu stopped her footstep for a short while.
There was still half a month to grandmother's seventy birthday. All the tragedies in her past life started from that birthday party. G.o.d wanted her to be born again at this time was just to let her open her eyes bigger and to choose wisely this time.
This time, she would not repeat the same mistake again.
Ling Xiao did not know why Ling Jing Shu had stopped walking and asked in a low voice, "Ah Shu, what happen to you?"
Ling Jing Shu quickly returned to her senses, knowing that Ling Xiao could not see yet she still squeezed out a casual smile, "Nothing, let's go in to greet grandmother."
The first thing that caught her eyes was the old lady sitting on the top.
Old Madam Ling was nearing seventy, her hair was already white, her forehead was full of wrinkles, but her eyes were not turbid because of her age, occasionally flashes a bright gleam of light.
Sitting on the left side of Old Madam Ling was the second aunt, Madam Yue.
The girl wearing pink outfit beside Madam Yue was a girl who was about fifteen years old. Her face was pink and her eyes were agile. She was the one who was acting coquettishly towards Old Madam Ling just now. She was her eight-sister cousin, Ling Jing Xian.
Sitting on the other side of Old Madam Ling was fourth aunt, Madam w.a.n.g. At the side of Madam w.a.n.g stood a budding beauty young girl. She looked gentle and pretty, and she was six-sister cousin, Ling Jing Wan.
Ling Jing Shu's gaze quickly swept across the crowd and landed on a face of a woman wearing silver-red satin.
She was about twenty-seven years old, her eyes were slightly smaller, her mouth was slightly wider, and near her lips was a little red mole. Her face features if looked separately were not that beautiful, but if looked together, they had a different kind of feminine style.
This woman was Ling Jing Shu's stepmother, Madam Li.
When the familiar face came into view, Ling Jing Shu could hardly restrain her hatred and she subconsciously clenched Ling Xiao's hand.
Ling Xiao did not antic.i.p.ate this and he suck in a cold breath. He almost shouted out the pain but, in the end, he swallowed it back. He in return hold onto Ling Jing Shu's shivering right hand, and worried in his heart.
After waking up today, Ah Shu seems a little weird.
It was be better not to mention this, if not grandmother would be unhappy.
Ling Jing Shu soon returned to her senses, took a deep breath in her heart, then she smiled and walked up to the front to bow, "Shu-er greets grandmother."
After two days of high fever, her temperature just dropped, her voice sounded lower than usual yet it was still pleasant.
Old Madam Ling glanced at Ling Jing Shu. She smiled and waved to her, "Shu jie-er, hurry come over to grandmother side, let grandmother take a look."
Her smile was kind and gentle as usual.
It seemed to be the grandmother that had always loved her.
Ling Jing Shu remembered clearly. When she was humiliated at her husband's house, she desperately fled back to her family home for help. Yet this cold and heartless face ruthlessly tied her up and send her back to her husband's house.
In the heart of Old Madam Ling, Ling's family name always come first. A married granddaughter, no matter how much humiliation she went through, her grandmother would not put in her heart.
Ling Jing Shu's fingertips were cold, but her face showed respectful and gentleness, holding onto Ling Xiao and walked towards Old Madam Ling.
Old Madam Ling grabbed Ling Jing Shu's hands and frowned immediately, "How come your hands are so cold? Is it because you wear too little clothes?"
No matter how cold her hands were, it would not be as cold as her heart.
Ling Jing Shu lowered her eyes and said softly, "It's Shu-er not good, made grandmother worried." "Yes, cousin Shu was sick for two days, grandmother was worried sick about you." Ling Jing Xian smirked, looking at Ling Jing Shu who was slightly pale yet did not hurt her beauty, her eyes flashed with a trace of jealousy.
