Translator: Dragon Rider
Under certain special circ.u.mstances, people tended to unleash amazing potential. Liu Xin abruptly grabbed his portfolio and swung it at the head, which was sent rolling to the side. Liu Xin panted heavily, but he soon discovered something more horrifying – the doors were closed and he could not get off the bus!
"Chief, this man has been bewitched. What do we do?" Zu Zhichong dragged someone out of a dark alley. Dream Eaters were not very offensive, but the tricky part was that if someone was bewitched by a Dream Eater, it would be very difficult for others to forcibly enter their dream from the real world.
Li Zong raised his hand and stopped Zu Zhichong from making any further remarks. He softly stroked his eyes with his two fingers and surprisingly, when he opened his eyes again, each of his pitch-black pupils had doubled itself. There were two pupils in each of his eyes, which were giving off some kind of faint, mysterious light.
At this time, everything in the dark alley became distinct in Li Zong's view. Li Zong walked into the alley and, after a couple of minutes, came out, dragging two persons with his hands.
"How did so many people fall victim?!"
Li Zong raised his head to look in the direction of a six-story office building.
"Everyone in this office building are bewitched by a Death Eater."
Han Zhuo, deputy group leader of the first action group, immediately went into the office building to check. After a couple of minutes, Han Zhuo returned with a solemn countenance. "Chief was right. All of them are under enchantment."
Li Zong closed his eyes. When he opened them, they had returned to normal.
"It seems that somebody has been enhancing this Death Eater's capability with demonic Qi. Otherwise, a common Death Eater would never be able to keep so many people in dreams at the same time, unless it has cultivated for centuries."
n.o.body had expected that the situation would be so tricky.
"Currently, what we need to do is find the Death Eater and kill it. Then we go after the mastermind."
A thought struck Zu Zhichong and he looked at Li Zong with a slight movement of his lips, as if intending to say something. Li Zong flicked a bland glance at him and with that Zu Zhichong swallowed back the words on the tip of his tongue.
Since Han Zhuo's body was of extremely yang (Yin and yang are the two opposing principles in nature, the former feminine and negative, the latter masculine and positive.) attribute, he was highly sensitive to creatures of yin attribute like Death Eaters. His eyes swept through those victims on the ground and confirmed that the Death Eater was not hiding in any of them. "It'll take too long if we search for the Death Eater floor by floor."
Liu Xin, who was lying beside their feet, suddenly went into convulsions, foaming at the mouth.
"d.a.m.n it. We don't have much time left." The countenance of Zhen Ni changed drastically.
While they were at a loss what to do, a man in a short-sleeved T-shirt craned out of the shadows and gave a bland smile.
Then he chuckled villainously.
His smile was still growing on his face when suddenly he felt something land on his shoulder.
It was someone's hand.
The man involuntarily tensed himself and softly turned his head back. Grinning cheekily, Zu Zhichong grimaced at him. "Hey, bro. Are you surprised? Are you delighted?"
In Li Zong's apartment.
He Zheng, following the instructions of his maternal grandfather, s.n.a.t.c.hed at every moment to practice the mental cultivation method of He family. After finishing a small circle of internal energy, he felt hungrier – just now, because of that woman, he had put down his chopsticks after merely having a few mouthfuls of food.
He opened his eyes and, to his surprise, spotted a cat with snow-white fur. He Zheng recalled that it was the one that Li Zong had held in his arms. Thinking that it was Li Zong's pet, he couldn't help but ask, "How did you get in here?"
Tun Shanhai had always had a bad impression of He Zheng. After what He Zheng did to Zhen Ni a moment ago, he disliked He Zheng even more, but due to Li Zong's order, he had no choice but to stay here.
He Zheng tried to talk to him but he ignored He Zheng.
"What a c.o.c.ky cat." He Zheng touched the little head of the cat with the tip of his foot. Tun Shanhai was instantly infuriated. 'This is unforgivable!' He immediately drew his little claw intending to scratch He Zheng's foot. But Tun Shanhai was rather intelligent and he did not dare to use his real strength but just made a threatening gesture.
"You want something to eat? I'm hungry." Zhu Ning used to keep a cat, so in the knowledge that cats were very short-tempered animals, He Zheng didn't get angry at it. Heedless of Tun Shanhai's resistance, He Zheng stooped down, held Tun Shanhai in his arms, opened the door and stepped outside. When he was walking past the threshold, a golden light emerged on it and then disappeared as He Zheng stepped out of the bedroom.
Tun Shanhai scratched He Zheng without a second thought. He Zheng gasped in pain but didn't let the cat go. Carrying the cat, he kept walking.
"If you keep making trouble, I'll starve you to death." He Zheng made a hollow threat.
Tun Shanhai struggled even harder, eager to speak human language and hurl a torrent of abuse at He Zheng.
Though He Zheng's movements were rude, he still fumbled in the refrigerator and placed some food in front of Tun Shanhai. "Do you eat fish?"
Tun Shanhai was filled with anger and had a ferocious look, as if he wanted to bite He Zheng to death. However, though the fish was cold, the smell of it was still irresistible to Tun Shanhai, so he eventually submitted himself to his appet.i.te. Ignoring He Zheng, he stretched out his tongue and started licking the fish quickly.
He Zheng took the bowl of sweet dumplings, which had gone cold, and resumed having supper.
A man and a cat enjoyed their respective meals, making a harmonious sight.
There was a soft knock at the door and Tun Shanhai paused. He Zheng impatiently moved his chair backwards, walked up to the display and took a look. "Who is it?"
"Takeout delivery."
'Li Zong ordered a takeout?' Inexplicably, He Zheng turned his head back to look at Tun Shanhai.
Tun Shanhai's hair suddenly rose and he let out a meow, as if warning He Zheng not to open the door. 'Chief is out there performing a task. How was it possible that he ordered a takeout for you!'
For some unknown reason, as if having understood the meaning of that meow, He Zheng warily took a step backwards.
"What's going on?" He Zheng mumbled in a low voice, as if asking someone or himself. Then he immediately fished out his cellphone with the intention to call Li Zong to ask him about it.
All of a sudden, a click came from inside the lock and surprisingly, the tightly locked door automatically fell open...
