Chapter 45: The Unexpected
Even though Chu Tian has not appeared on the Hacker’s Forum for five days straight, the Ministry of State Security has not been idle. They even formulated four different plans with his ‘old veteran’ ident.i.ty in mind.
But, to their surprise, before they could implement any of the four plans, Chu Tian leveled up into a grandpa.
“You can say that.”
The middle-aged man revealed a frown. He took a deep breath, “Our nation is a nation of people who emphasizes the continuation of their bloodline. That has been the ideology of our culture since ancient times. Take Mencius’ ‘There are three ways to be unfilial; having no sons is the worst,’ take the economic and livelihood ideologies of ‘bringing up children for the purpose of being looked after in old age,’ ‘all things go back to their sources in time,’ and various other such ideologies.”
“They are all a sort of manifestation of our desire to pa.s.s on through future generations. This sort of ideology is most present in the people of the older generation like Shadow. Compared to the youngsters nowadays, they are much more conservative and traditional.”
“For him to level up into a grandfather at a time like this, his life’s focus would be practically shifted entirely onto his grandson. Thus… the four plans that we’ve formulated are essentially ineffective.”
The woman grew silent for a moment, “This is indeed quite a th.o.r.n.y problem. I’ll go make a call.”
After she finished saying those words, she turned around and left w.a.n.g Xiaofeng’s computer room.
Not long after, roughly ten minutes or so, the woman returned to the room.
The middle-aged man asked, “How was it? What sort of instructions did the higher ups give?”
“The higher ups are quite baffled by this situation too,” said the woman, “They did not antic.i.p.ate that a grandson would be born at such a critical junction. Because of that, they gave new instructions. Since the possibility of luring him out became very slim, we are to implement Plan Series B.
Plan Series B?
Hearing those words, w.a.n.g Xiaofeng couldn’t help himself from feeling shocked.
Goodness gracious!
Exactly how many plan series did the country prepare for that Shadow?
After all the plans under Plan Series A were nullified by Shadow, they actually had an entire Plan Series B? Wouldn’t that mean that they would have a Plan Series C too?
For a hacker to be able to cause such a ma.s.sive commotion, his entire life has been worthwhile!
The middle-aged man nodded his head, “I agree, it is time to implement Plan Series B.”
After he finished saying those words, the middle-aged man began to formulate a reply to Shadow.
w.a.n.g Xiaofeng: “You became a grandfather? Oh my! Shadow bro, congratulations! I was wondering what you were up to the past week. So it’s actually because of your grandson. This is a happy occasion. Congratulations, truly congratulations.”
Not long after, Chu Tian’s reply arrived.
A Handsome Guy Who’s Unwilling To Reveal His Ident.i.ty: “Hahaha. That’s true. This is indeed a happy occasion. After all these years, I’m finally a grandfather. It’s like my entire’s life’s ultimate satisfaction arrived in an instant.”
w.a.n.g Xiaofeng: “You’re exaggerating. It’s only three generations so far. It’s still early. What’s next would be four generations and five generations.”
A Handsome Guy Who’s Unwilling To Reveal His Ident.i.ty: “Hahaha. Don’t say it like that. While I might be able to live till four generations, five generations would be out of question. I wouldn’t be able to live that long.”
w.a.n.g Xiaofeng: “Oh, no, don’t say it like that. Modern technology is getting better by the day. Who knows, living to a hundred years old might become a trifling task. Trust me, five generations would most definitely be no issue for you.”
A Handsome Guy Who’s Unwilling To Reveal His Ident.i.ty: “Haha. If you say it like that, it is indeed worthy of looking forward to it. Oh, that’s right. What have you been doing these days?”
w.a.n.g Xiaofeng: “Nothing much. I’ve only been working on a project with the government. Shadow bro, are you interested in partic.i.p.ating in it?” You can earn some baby formula money for your grandson.”
A Handsome Guy Who’s Unwilling To Reveal His Ident.i.ty: “Oh? A project with the government? What project?”
w.a.n.g Xiaofeng: “Finding breaches.”
w.a.n.g Xiaofeng: “Recently, the government had decided to upgrade the security system for many of their agencies and departments. We hackers are requested to attack the servers hosting those agencies and departments. Of course, we’re not there to cause destruction. We are merely tasked with finding breaches that would allow for an invasion into those system servers. The pay’s pretty good. A single breach is 300 thousand.”
w.a.n.g Xiaofeng: “So, Shadow bro, what do you think? Do you want to join us and make some baby formula money for your grandson?”
A Handsome Guy Who’s Unwilling To Reveal His Ident.i.ty: “Eh… The government’s being stingy, no? The reward for a single breach is only 300 thousand? If the breaches are sold to foreign governments, a single breach would most definitely net over a million or several millions.”
What the h.e.l.l?
Seeing the message response from Chu Tian, the three agents’ eyes all grew wide open.
In fact, even w.a.n.g Xiaofeng’s eyes grew wide open.
Done for! Totally done for!
At this moment, w.a.n.g Xiaofeng felt like he got completely f.u.c.ked.
This Shadow is f.u.c.king creating troubles!
As a rather reputed hacker, w.a.n.g Xiaofeng naturally knew about what Chu Tian was talking about.
Truth be told, many countries were secretly acquiring all sorts of system loopholes and breaches.
They were used for potential warfare.
As science and technology continued to improve, wars became increasingly reliant on science and technology. By controlling the breaches to those systems, one would essentially be able to control the fate of the war.
If a war really occurs, one merely needs to infiltrate into one’s enemy’s system and paralyze it. With that, their fighting prowess will immediately decrease by over half.
Their guided missiles wouldn't be able to fire.
Their drones wouldn’t be able to fly.
The radars and various other electronics wouldn’t work properly.
With all these, how exactly was a country supposed to fight a war?
But, that would only be the wartime usage. Even if one didn’t go to war, one could still utilize those breaches for other usages.
Among all countries, the United States was the one who utilizes the greatest amount of resources to gather system breaches. Reportedly, they would spend nearly ten billion USD every year just on gathering breaches.
System breaches had become the new strategy reserves.
But, the issue was… it was not something that can be sold to others!
If one was to sell one’s country’s system breaches to foreign countries, they would essentially be committing treason!
