Chapter 6 - Reaching an Agreement
When Lou XingGuang spoke these words, everyone within earshot went: ??????
Lin Qian breathed out heavily and asked Zheng PingQing with his eyes: What is your younger brother talking about?
Zheng PingQing was just as confused, replying back via brain waves: I have no idea…
Dong MingEn and Zhou Daota were also somewhat puzzled, but Lou XingGuang had always been one of their more intelligent friends. When they thought back to the previous a.n.a.lysis he did on the way here, they decided to give their unconditional support to their brother.
Zheng PingQing finally couldn’t help but ask the question both he and Lin Qian had in their minds: “What are you talking about?”
Lou XingGuang stared directly towards Lin Qian, his eyes revealing his infinite wisdom: “Lin Qian, don’t forget, it was you who proclaimed in the a.s.sembly that we should all study hard together!”
Lin Qian became even more confused. He did say that during the a.s.sembly. Although it seemed like he was saying it to everyone, it was more to let Zheng PingQing know that he knew what Zheng PingQing was trying to say. After all, he couldn’t just directly shout ‘I love you too’ in front of the entire student body.
Although he knew that Zheng PingQing would’ve been just as eager to come out of the closet that very moment.
But the question was, why did this Luo XingGuang want to insert himself in this little thing between him and Zheng PingQing?
Zheng PingQing’s eyes also turned subtle as he looked at Luo XingGuang.
Dong MingEn couldn’t help but go over to his friend and mutter: “XingGuang, what do you mean by that?”
Lou XingGuang looked back to his friend, his eyes unfathomable: “You still don’t understand?”
Dong MingEn’s eyes said that he didn’t.
Lou XingGuang sighed softly: “The Boss… he…he should have asked Lin Qian to tutor us.”
Dong MingEn was shocked, but suddenly it dawned on him.
In this way, everything made sense.
In must be because Zheng PingQing wanted the top students to help guide them in their studies, but Lin Qian despicably threatened Zheng PingQing and made him bow down in front of all the teachers and students. This was why Lin Qian replied ‘let us study hard’ during the a.s.sembly.
All this was just to show-off and demonstrate their power!
They never would have thought that Zheng PingQing would bend so much just to make them happy in their last year of high school, unexpectedly pleading this much.
When it comes to experiencing a happy senior high school life, isn’t this only possible when someone else is carrying the heavy load for them?
And now, Lin Qian actually wanted to deny it. Even after he promised Zheng PingQing, he now wanted to drag things until after the exams; this was really a matter of the dish becoming long cold!
In an instant, their hearts became full of mixed feelings. Dong MingEn almost rushed at Lin Qian but was blocked by Lou XingGuang. Luo XingGuang avoided Zheng PingQing’s gaze as he whispered even lower: “Don’t be impulsive, the Boss didn’t want us to know so we have to pretend that we don’t know anything.”
“No, I’m going to ask the Boss.” Dong MingEn said in a choked voice.
Lou XingGuang frowned: “Boss has already been embarra.s.sed enough, and you still want to sprinkle salt on his wounds?”
Zheng PingQing treasured keeping face above all, yet he bowed his head to his most hated Lin Qian for them. He didn’t know how much effort it must have taken to pretend to be light and carefree. If they question him, wouldn’t it just be them rubbing the entire situation all over his face?
As their hearts felt heavier, they glanced at their Boss, only to be hit by Zheng PingQing’s piercing gaze.
Zheng PingQing looked at his younger brothers. For no discernable reason, they suddenly shuffled together to form a small group and then started whispering. They looked at him from time to time with strange eyes, as if he had grown a second head. This odd situation baffled Zheng PingQing, causing his brows to wrinkle.
“Do you see?” Lou XingGuang held Dong MingEn tightly. “The Boss is worried, he’s never been like this before.”
“But I don’t want to.” Dong MingEn still found it difficult to let past grievances go.
“I’m not willing either.” Lou XingGuang replied, “But the Boss has already suffered such a great injustice, can you really bear to let his sacrifice go to waste?”
Zhou Daota’s heart was also in knots as he finally sighed: “We have to live up to our Boss’s care and hard work.”
Dong MingEn was still wavering, but Zhou Daota already decided in his heart. He stepped forward and bravely said: “Lin Qian, since you already said that you would let us follow you and learn, you have to take responsibility.”
Lin Qian:?
Looking at the att.i.tude of his little friend, Dong MingEn finally made up his mind, painfully and reluctantly saying: “Yes, it’ll be up to you to teach me.”
Lin Qian: ??
What’s this situation? Is this group making me touch porcelain?
Zheng PingQing: ????
What the h.e.l.l? Are they trying to poach my honey?
Did they huddle together and start whispering to discuss how to catch their older brother’s wife?
For a moment, Zheng PingQing had a strong urge to introduce the pointy end of a knife to these little brothers of his.
Throughout the entire debacle, Xu Yao, who had been watching the other party’s crazy babbling, finally figured out Zheng PingQing’s plan.
With his organs exhausted, Zheng PingQing didn’t hesitate to flatter Lin Qian in front of the entire student body in the a.s.sembly to deceive Lin Qian into helping them study. Now that Lin Qian was dazed and soft, they wanted to force him into complying with their demands.
Truly shameless to the extreme!
Xu Yao couldn’t help but scold: “You’re all dreaming! Who are you trying to depend on?!”
Fu YiFei couldn’t help but blurt out a corny pun: “PingQing?”
Everybody: “…..”
Zheng PingQing: “….” Unexpectedly, there was someone on the other group that made him want to treat that person the same as his little brothers…
Fu Yifei’s horrible pun succeeded in weakening Xu Yao’s momentum. Jiang TingJun cleared his throat and calmly said: “Shut up you pig teammate.”
As Zheng PingQing saw the situation derail into something strange, his expression turned puzzled.
While he was uncomfortable with the idea of his brothers trying to play Lin Qian, it was rare for these delinquents to actually take the initiative and ask for help with their studies. Zheng PingQing comforted himself with the thought that everyone’s future was important and that they shouldn’t be left alone to repeat the wrongs that happened in his past life. He had to tamp down his bad mood.
Zheng PingQing suppressed the impulse to beat up his brothers and looked at Lin Qian, slowly asking: “What do you say?”
Xu Yao immediately muttered towards Lin Qian’s ear: “Ah Qian, don’t be fooled.”
Lin Qian pushed Xu Yao’s face away and looked at Dong MingEn, whose eyes were sparkling. Lin Qian’s heart suddenly filled with emotion.
If he remembered correctly, these people in his past life didn’t have any enthusiasm for studying, so much so that Lin Qian had wondered if they simply spent all their free time fighting him and his group.
Unexpectedly, the b.u.t.terfly effect brought about by his and Zheng PingQing’s rebirth had such a significant impact that it even inspired Dong MingEn to want to study. Dong MingEn was so inspired his eyes were shining.
Having experienced his past life, Lin Qian had always felt that he was more or less responsible for how the people around him ended up as. Now, he thought about it for a little while before saying: “Since everyone wants to learn, I’ll help with the remedial lessons.”
Hearing Lin Qian finally yield, Dong MingEn immediately breathed a sigh of relief: at last, Zheng PingQing’s sacrifice won’t be in vain.
But Xu Yao screamed: “No way!”
Xu Yao grabbed Lin Qian’s arm: “Ah Qian, you can’t believe Zheng PingQing’s words. Don’t be fooled by him!”
Zheng PingQing: ????
Zheng PingQing lifted the corners of his mouth: “Hey, you should speak objectively.”
Xu Yao directly ignored him and continued to convince Lin Qian: “Ah Qian, you should think about this carefully, why would Zheng PingQing say that you’re handsome for no apparent reason?”
With a straight face, Lin Qian replied: “It wasn’t for no reason; it was just him being honest.”
Xu Yao: “…..”
Xu Yao was so angry he couldn’t help but yell: “Lin Qian!”
His friend was being too apathetic, too apathetic! How can Lin Qian fall for such obvious sugar-coated bullets!
Seeing that his friends were going astray, Jiang TingJun decided to speak up. Since Lin Qian had been deceived by Zheng PingQing’s sweet words, he decided to persuade his friend from a different angle.
Jiang TingJun thought for a bit before saying: “Ah Qian, I think you should forget about it. There are so many people; you wouldn’t be able to tutor all of them even if you wanted to help. Don’t you need to study yourself? We’re seniors now.”
Xu Yao nodded fiercely.
Lin Qian hesitated for a moment. As a man who was reborn, the college entrance exams weren’t actually that important to him. However, Jiang TingJun had a point. He had a limited amount of energy and having graduated so many years ago, he didn’t know how much time he needed to spend relearning high school knowledge again. It would be hard trying to tutor so many people, and if he stretched himself too thin, the help wouldn’t necessarily produce results.
Lin Qian rubbed his fingertips for a while before hesitantly looking at Xu Yao to tentatively ask: “Would you like to join us?”
If his friends were willing to help, it would almost be a one-on-one tutoring session, and thus wouldn’t affect their own studies.
Moreover, Lin Qian could still remember the questions for this years college entrance exams from his previous life. With his knowledge of the specific questions, their results were basically guaranteed.
Xu Yao and friends: “…..?”
No, no, this wasn’t the script they received for this scenario.
Xu Yao’s first reaction was to refuse, but Pan Qibo seized his arm.
Xu Yao looked at his friend fiercely: “What are you doing?”
Pan Qibo pursed his lips and whispered: “If we don’t join, we’ll be leaving Ah Qian to go into the tiger’s den alone.”
Xu Yao: “….f.u.c.k!”
Pan Qibo was also aggrieved: “Ah Qian is too soft-hearted.”
Xu Yao felt his teeth itch: “We can’t just stand by and watch his kindness get exploited by that despicable villain!”
Pan Qibo nodded: “We need to join Lin Qian so we can properly supervise Zheng PingQing and his goons.”
Xu Yao was still struggling: “Are we really going to tutor the enemy?”
Pan Qibo’s eyes were full of wisdom as he replied: “Extreme measures must be taken.”
With a long sigh, Xu Yao flattened his mouth and finally agreed: “If it’s the only way.”
At last, both sides reached an agreement. Fearing that Lin Qian might back out, Dong MingEn insisted on signing an agreement which he personally drafted, and everyone signed it on the spot.
Pact:
From today henceforth, Lin Qian (spelled wrong), Xu Yao (spelled wrong) Jiang TingJun, Fu Yifei (spelled wrong), Pan Qibo, etc. would tutor and offer remedial cla.s.ses for Zheng PingQing, Dong MingEn, Zhou Daota, Lou XingGuang, etc. to be scheduled for one hour after school everyday. The top students are also required to accept any questions or inquiries regarding their studies at any time.
XX year XX month XX day
Looking at this agreement, everyone: “……”
Xu Yao, a person who rarely put down his hatred, spoke from the bottom of his heart: “It turns out that they really do need to take remedial cla.s.ses.”
Jiang TingJun: “…I think our workload is about to become a little too hefty.”
Fu Yifei: “Seriously, the handwriting on this is too ugly and this paper looks like we’d get infected by some disease if we touched it. Don’t you have anything better?”
Pan Qibo: “….” Suddenly I feel like letting this person go into the tiger’s den alone.
Dong MingEn and his friends were unaware of their thoughts, busy triumphantly urging Lin Qian to sign.
Zheng PingQing looked at the handwritten agreement, then gazed at Lin Qian deeply: “It’s been hard for you.”
Lin Qian smiled and replied: “You too.”
After signing the paper, Lin Qian lazily stretched his shoulders: “Then, let’s leave it at that for today.”
Zheng PingQing was about to reply when Pan Qibo suddenly interrupted: “Wait.”
The others looked at him. Pan Qibo straightened his gla.s.ses before looking towards Dong MingEn: “Since the agreement has been signed, you take out your books. We can figure out the topics you’re having trouble with, and we can prepare a few exercises for you to do tonight.”
Dong MingEn and others: “…”
Although they said they wanted to learn, they haven’t readied themselves psychologically yet, ah.
Lin Qian didn’t expect his friends to be so efficient. He nodded his approval and praised them: “That’s good.”
As a senior high school student, it was necessary to fight and make every second count!
The Zheng PingQing, who unconditionally supported Lin Qian in everything, looked towards Dong MingEn and said: “Then you go take out your books.”
Lin Qian never would have imagined that this group of people who had been fighting each other for years in his past life, would be able to create such a harmonious atmosphere. His heart was warm and as he turned around, he saw Zheng PingQing looking at him.
As two men looked at each other, Lin Qian smiled and was about to walk towards Zheng PingQing when suddenly-
Bang!
The old mottled door was suddenly kicked. It trembled a few times before finally breaking and falling to the floor.
As the dust from the impact settled, Ke CaiZhu appeared, along with the Princ.i.p.al and several homeroom teachers. Ke CaiZhu entered the room, fiercely yelling, “You bunch of b.a.s.t.a.r.ds, absolutely lawless…”
The rest of what she was going to say was abruptly cut short as if caught in the middle of her throat, and she felt like a balloon that had suddenly deflated.
Any drama/misunderstanding is 10000% from other people. It’s hilarious. But still, each group genuinely cares about their Boss/Ah Qian so it’s also cute.
