Chapter 817: The Little Fairy Sees a Doctor
Seeing that there were patients inside, Chief Chu did not enter. He asked Zheng Ren, “What do you think is the illness? How did the myocardial changes come about?”
Zheng Ren smiled and did not directly answer Chief Chu’s question. Instead, he looked at the person at the door of the consultation room and asked, “What is your surname?”
Chief Chu and the patient were stunned. When the patient saw that it was a doctor, he quickly said, “My surname is Lin.”
His voice was a little m.u.f.fled, and his accent was very heavy, as if he had a big tongue.
“It’s because you often faint, right?” Zheng Ren already had an idea and continued to ask.
The patient nodded in confusion. He looked at Zheng Ren, Chief Chu, and Dr. Liang, but still did not get any answers.
“I looked at the medical record, and it said that you had symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath after an activity a year ago? Tell me in detail,” Zheng Ren did not hesitate and asked straightforwardly.
Because he was wearing white clothes, he had a certain degree of authority in a place like the hospital. Although the patient did not understand the situation, he subconsciously began to answer Zheng Ren’s question.
With the medical history that Dr. Liang mentioned, Zheng Ren continued to ask about some details that even the patient did not notice.
“Does your stomach hurt?”
“Occasionally, recently…” The patient tried hard to recall. “In the past six months, I’ve been having an abdominal distension, sometimes diarrhea, and sometimes constipation…”
“What about your limbs? Other than swelling, do you feel anything else?”
“It hurts, but not all the time. Sometimes, when I’m sleeping, I felt like someone is p.r.i.c.king me with a needle, and I wake up from the pain. But after I wake up, the pain didn’t continue.” As he spoke, the man continued mysteriously, “I even had a shaman look at it, but it was useless. I guess I was scammed. That person was a liar and had no magic powers.”
This was the most normal behavior. Zheng Ren smiled. He did not think that the patient was superst.i.tious.
In the middle of the night, he suddenly felt like he was being p.r.i.c.ked by needles. If this appeared frequently, he would be scared to death. This person was brave. If he was a coward, he would not have come to the hospital. He would have gone to the great immortals to find out what he had done.
Although it was said that, after the founding of the country, people were not allowed to become shamans, but there were still some from before the founding.
In the Sea City General Hospital, there were some patients who believed in Buddhism and Christianity. Before they died, they did not want to die in the hospital. Instead, they went to temples and churches.
Zheng Ren did not have any opinions on this. As long as they did not take money, they were all good. If they took money, they were all liars.
As for this patient in front of him, it was considered a normal action to find a shaman for him. It was normal for him to believe anything.
Regardless of whether it was a black cat or a white cat, a cat that could cure a disease was a good cat.
At this point, Zheng Ren had already made a basic judgment. He only needed to wait for the doctor inside to finish his treatment and go in to communicate with him.
“Doctor, do you know what kind of disease I have?” the patient asked nervously.
“What did the G.o.ddess you found say?” Since he had to wait anyway, Zheng Ren asked him with a smile.
“She said that I met the Fox Fairy.”
Zheng Ren thought about it and compared it to the patient’s case. He moved closer to the man’s ear mysteriously and whispered a few words.
After saying that, the man was stunned for a moment before the expression on his face changed.
First, he was surprised, then he was a little scared. Finally, he looked at Zheng Ren. If Zheng Ren was not wearing white clothes, he would have almost knelt down.
Chief Chu was puzzled and even more curious. What did Zheng Ren say? Why did this patient have such an expression?
It was strange.
“This is a rare disease. It needs to be confirmed by other tests and then treated accordingly.” Zheng Ren did not pretend to be mysterious. Instead, he spoke with a smile.
The patient was stunned.
He had thought that Zheng Ren was the reincarnation of a master and could see foul things that he could not see.
However, no matter what Zheng Ren said, he refused to believe it, even if he was wearing white clothes.
“Master, I won’t look for anyone else. Just show it to me,” the man said with a pious look, putting his hands together and bending over.
His att.i.tude was filled with trepidation. It seemed that he would believe whatever Zheng Ren said.
“…” Zheng Ren did not expect such a thing to happen.
‘Don’t tell me that I don’t look like a doctor, but more like… a mysterious shaman with strange powers…’ Zheng Ren muttered to himself.
Chief Chu was even more curious. If the patient was not there, he would have pulled Zheng Ren over and asked him about it.
It was interesting to see how the patient was acting like he was in the presence of a G.o.d.
At this moment, the patient walked out and Chief Chu brought Zheng Ren in.
The doctor who was in his fifties looked especially amiable.
“Old Li, this is Zheng Ren, Boss Zheng. He is the one who was recently mentioned as a candidate for the n.o.bel Prize,” Chief Chu introduced him. “Boss Zheng, this is Chief Li.”
“h.e.l.lo, Chief Li.” Zheng Ren smiled and reached out his hand.
“You’re young and promising.” Chief Li politely greeted him, but he did not understand. He held Zheng Ren’s hand and looked at Chief Chu.
“Boss Zheng went to look for me for something. I felt that there was something wrong with the coronary CT, so I asked Boss Zheng to help me take a look,” Chief Chu explained. “Boss Zheng saw the problem and said that he wanted to take a look at the patient to confirm it. I’ll bring him over.”
“Oh? What disease is Boss Zheng thinking about?” Chief Li asked as he touched his reading gla.s.ses.
Zheng Ren smiled. “I think it’s primary light-chain amyloidosis.”
“Uh…” Chief Chu and Chief Li were stunned at the same time.
Amyloidosis? Amyloidosis was a chronic metabolic disease caused by the deposition of amyloid proteins in tissues or organs. However, there were no clear signs of protein deposition on the patient’s radiographic films.
Could it be that there was something wrong with those attributions?
“Boss Zheng? Say that again,” Chief Chu muttered.
“It’s primary light-chain amyloidosis,” Zheng Ren said. “It’s not an ordinary amyloidosis, but a primary light-chain change.”
“Is the heart enlarged, and is there also a problem with the electrocardiogram’s R-wave?” Chief Li immediately understood what Zheng Ren meant and asked.
“Yes,” Zheng Ren said. “The patient has occasional needle-like pain in his limbs, but it’s not serious.”
From the liver and renal function test to the heart and limbs, Zheng Ren began to talk to Chief Li.
Chief Li also had some research on the primary light-chain amyloidosis, but he did not read as many books in the System library as Zheng Ren did, and the System panel confirmed it.
One was pushing forward, and the other was pushing forward and pushing backward, so Zheng Ren appeared to be more confident.
The patients were all dumbfounded.
However, the discussion about the condition ended very quickly. Chief Li wrote a note telling the patient to go to the Hematology Department for treatment.
“Doctor, am I okay?” the patient looked at Zheng Ren with a sad face and asked.
He did not trust the two old doctors, but only Zheng Ren.
“You need to do anti-plasma cell treatment. Yes, it’s similar to the treatment for myeloma, but it’s definitely not a malignant tumor. You can rest a.s.sured,” Zheng Ren comforted the patient.
“…”
“Go to the Hematology Department and have a look. This disease needs you to stay in the Imperial Capital for a period of time,” Zheng Ren said. “But don’t worry, it’s not as troublesome as you think. It’s still in the early to mid-stage. After treatment, it will be alleviated very quickly.”
The patient held the note and was somewhat skeptical. However, he did not dare to ‘disobey’ Zheng Ren’s words, so he could only turn his head and walk away.
