Chapter 612: Set Off Again
Zheng Ren was like a stone, rippling in the pond called Sea City.
As time pa.s.sed, the ripples gradually calmed down.
A month later, even Professor Rudolf Wagner’s calls gradually decreased.
Another month pa.s.sed. After the Lunar New Year, people’s lives returned to normal.
..
Early in the morning of March, Spring was in full bloom.
At the sanatorium around Yangcheng, Zheng Ren was practicing tai chi.
He learned it from a guard he had met during his stay there. It was said that the guard was the direct descendant of Yang Jiagou. Zheng Ren did not really care whether it was true or not. Anyway, there was no emergency treatment every day. He was bored, so it was good to get some exercise.
“It’s really boring to come out with you.” Su Yun was lying on an old-fashioned rattan chair, his black hair fluttering in the wind.
Zheng Ren ignored him. His tai chi movements were smooth and methodical.
“You’re just like an old man. You sleep at nine o’clock every day and wake up at five o’clock in the morning. You even do tai chi,” Su Yun said. “Speaking of which, this old man is leaving today. Can you not be an eyesore here? Think about how to explain everything to Xie Yiren when we get back. Should we kneel on the washboard or the CPU?”
At the mention of Xie Yiren, Zheng Ren’s graceful movements seemed to have been cut off by an invisible knife. He paused for a moment, breathing in before he stopped.
“I won’t be angry,” Zheng Ren said.
Zheng Ren had not worked the night shift for a few months. His face looked a lot rudder and was full of energy.
“Wow, boss, you’re really confident,” Su Yun said.
“Send him off at noon. After that, we can go to the Imperial Capital, right?” Zheng Ren asked.
“Yes. Department Chief Kong came a few days ago. He said that the Imperial Capital has given us ten beds. Boss, let me tell you, the ten beds in the Imperial Capital are worth at least a hundred million,” Su Yun said.
“Yes. Will you be able to part from your phone again?” Zheng Ren smiled when he saw Su Yun’s bored expression.
“It’s okay. I wasn’t used to it in the beginning. I slept enough and spent the whole day doing surgeries with you. Prostate and liver cirrhosis all looked so disgusting,” Su Yun said. “I’m much better now. I feel like I’m full of positive energy.”
Zheng Ren saw Su Yun’s character and knew that if he left this place, he would be attached to his phone again.
“My phone must have exploded. I don’t know how many girls have left messages for me. Guess how many messages will be on your phone?” Su Yun lazily imagined the situation when his phone returned to his hand.
“I don’t know.” Zheng Ren did not want to think about such a boring thing. He moved around and asked, “What do you want to eat for lunch?”
“Donkey meat.” Su Yun said, “I specially found a chef who is the best at making donkey meat who is based in the Military District.”
“Oh.”
“Can you not look so calm? Let me tell you, the donkey meat is really delicious after it’s cooked.” Su Yun continued, “Take a piece of donkey meat and put it in your mouth. The most authentic way to eat it is to close your eyes and chew it thirty-six times. The donkey meat then turns into soup. It’s extremely delicious.”
Zheng Ren completely ignored Su Yun’s nagging. Information about donkey meat being chewed thirty-six times was nonsense in his eyes.
As long as he ate his fill, Zheng Ren would never get tired of eating.
Three months ago, he left Sea City. After he reported to the Imperial Capital, he came to the South.
Because the health care team judged that the prostate interventional embolization that Zheng Ren had studied was not mature yet, they requested for it to be perfected.
This extended their mission’s duration.
However, there was nothing they could do. Zheng Ren was under the pressure of the System’s mission. He had to twist his neck and request that he perform at least 100 cases of TIPS surgery during the same duration.
Everything was highly confidential and that included patient information too. The old chief of the health care group thought that Zheng Ren was fighting for the prize so after repeatedly dissuading him, they still pinched their noses and refused to budge.
After completing the Ultimate Mission: The Crown Jewel – Final Stage, the success rate of Zheng Ren’s interventional surgery had increased by +6 and his luck value had also increased by +12.
All of these turned into the foundation to successfully complete all the prostate interventional embolization.
Five months of surgical training and a million experience points made Zheng Ren become a nouveau riche.
Without the emergency department, Zheng Ren lived a fulfilling life. However, he missed Xie Yiren every day. Other than that, everything else was perfect.
“By the way, is Department Chief Kong coming to pick us up?” Zheng Ren asked.
“He should be.” Su Yun turned around. He changed his appearance and accepted the morning sunlight. “He brought us here so he should be the one bringing us back.”
“That’s good.”
“What’s wrong? Are you afraid of getting lost without him?” Su Yun retorted daily.
“I don’t want to see your face on the plane. After looking at it for a few months, the sight of it disgusts me,” Zheng Ren said.
Since his days were boring, Zheng Ren gradually got used to talking with Su Yun.
He took a look at the patient in the morning, told the doctors there about the precautions, and finished the handover.
Department Chief Kong arrived at around ten o’clock. It was supposed to be a big meal but Zheng Ren was still absent-minded while eating.
Su Yun was also very emotional about Zheng Ren’s temperament.
He could have been closer to the doctors here and kept it up for future connections. However, he always had a calm appearance, making people unable to get close to him even if they wanted to.
At noon after lunch, a car brought Zheng Ren and Su Yun away.
Looking at the place that was slowly fading from their view, Zheng Ren had a faint sense of melancholy.
After all, he had lived for a few months. Every day, he lived a leisurely life of only performing surgeries with no emergency treatment and no large amount of epinephrine and dopamine secretion. This was the most comfortable time for Zheng Ren since he started practicing medicine.
They should have all just stayed there.
“Boss Zheng, the surgery center that was prepared for you in the Imperial Capital has a lot of procedures being approved. The location is slightly further away. Just make do with the Imperial Capital Hospital for now,” Department Chief Kong said.
“It’s fine.” Zheng Ren asked, “Are Xie Yiren and the others there?”
“They went after the New Year. The nurse has to prepare some stuff first,” Department Chief Kong said. “Su Yun proposed to transfer a doctor named Chang Yue as the candidate for doctor position.”
“Department Chief Kong, where are our phones?” Su Yun asked anxiously.
“I’ll give it to you when we enter the city. The reception here isn’t good,” Department Chief Kong said with a smile.
Everything was good except for the fact that he did not have a cell phone. It was especially bad to be unable to communicate with the outside world.
However, Su Yun had no other choice. He hoped that these days would only be few in the distant future.
However, this was a special situation. Generally speaking, cutting off communication with the outside world would usually only be for about a week or so.
Prostate interventional embolization was a new technique. It took a lot of time to perfect the new technique and was considered a special situation. This kind of problem probably would not appear in the future.
The car did not enter the city. Instead, it drove straight to the airport along the Ring Line.
When he reached the airport, Zheng Ren took back his phone. After opening it, a series of WeChat notifications sounded. There were so many that it sounded like a series of bullets being fired.
Looking at the increasing numbers on his WeChat app and the number of missed calls, Zheng Ren was stunned.
Before his phone could process all the information, a call came in.
