She enjoyed looking at the slight blush that came to her husband's face at what she was doing to his arm. It was fun knowing that she could embarra.s.s him. Even if she should have felt bad for doing so in front of their friends she did not really. While their friends would be highly likely to tease him, they really would not make too much fun of him.
Besides she was making herself blush too, and her blush was far more noticeable. She had noticed over the course of the month since they had married that Kaldrek never blushed quite as deeply as she did. Even though it was obvious he got just as embarra.s.sed at times
"You seem to be in a better mood, Zylv." Fayre smiled at her with her usual happy smile, "Did Kaldrek manage to cheer you up?"
She nodded wordlessly as her husband shifted slightly, "Yeah, I think Zylv just needed to rest a little and to have a moment to slow down."
A sympathetic look came to the queen's face, "I was worried about her; I am glad you managed to cheer her up. She was moodier today than she normally is; even when she is hungry."
"Excuse me, I am right here!" Zylvia laughed as she protested them talking about her over her head.
"I know, love." Kaldrek grinned down at her, as he moved his arm to tug her closer against his side. "It is rather hard to ignore when you are clinging to me like that."
Fayre chuckled softly, "Well, you could always speak up instead of putting him in the position to answer for you."
As Fayre was talking, Jayesh had started teasing Kaldrek, "Surprising, old friend, that she is willing to plaster herself against you like that. You really lucked out, I mean what does she see in you?"
Zylvia rolled her eyes as she listened to the king, before coming to her husband's defense. While it did not seem to bug Kaldrek all that much, she did not like hearing anyone, even jokingly, putting him down as not being a very good mate. "Oh, stop it, Jayesh, Kaldrek is your best friend. Unless, of course, you are implying you have bad taste in friends…"
Kaldrek stroked her hand, as a pleased look came to him, "Say what you like, my friend, but she is the one who gets to decide whether or not she thinks I am a good husband. And she seems to think I am doing an acceptable job."
Jayesh raised his hands in defeat. "Alright, alright, I was just teasing. Kaldrek is a rather good man. Still he is rather lucky that the woman I forced him to marry does love him. You can't argue that."
"Never would," Kaldrek stated simply, smiling down at his wife. Zylvia returned his smile and leaned against his shoulder.
Fayre was chuckling to herself, her eyes sparkling, "Oh, that is always fun to watch," Her own teasing was a bit gentler than her husband's, "Zylvia coming to her husband's defense is just precious to behold."
"I don't really mind you guys teasing him, but when you guys go a little far in your teasing, it just makes me want to defend him…" Zylvia mumbled as she tightened her grip even more making her husband grin.
"If you hold my arm any tighter, Zylv, I think it might just turn purple." He placed a kiss against the top of her head, making her freeze in shock.
"Sorry," She mumbled, as she loosened her grip on him. He placed his free hand over hers and gave her a huge smile as if saying that he really did not mind.
She noticed the look that pa.s.sed between their king and queen. It was a pleased look, as if they were happy seeing the way Kaldrek and her were getting along. She sighed as she nestled against her husband. Let the two tease them, she was just happy to have the man she loved.
They did not, however, make any more teasing statements, at least at this time. Instead Jayesh changed the conversation to the child he was excitedly waiting to welcome to the world.
It was one that they all could get excited about, though Kaldrek did not say much about it. Though, he was paying attention so none of them really complained about it.
Fayre was excitedly convinced that her child would make friends easily and would always be liked by everyone. Zylvia knew, and said, that as long as the child was anything like the mother this would be true.
Jayesh agreed with his wife and added that the child would be smarter than any other child his(or hers) age, except perhaps Kaldrek's kids. The tack on made Zylvia giggle and look at her husband. She could hardly wait until they started having children.
Kaldrek looked back at her and she wondered if he was thinking the same thing. If he felt as impatient to become a parent as she did.
