"Ok well I made it out of the first boss room alive. I can't believe it played on my trypophobia straight away though! Urgh so many holes." Chloe said to herself as she turned the corners of the maze. "I wonder where the next one could be- aha! Here it is! Oh G.o.d, what fear am I going to see this time?"
Chloe entered the room and placed her hand on the slab. Once again, the black sparks flew as the shadow began to form.
However, instead of changing into some sort of creature, the shadow stayed a giant blob.
"Huh?" Chloe said, completely confused, "I'm not scared of shadows."
The only thing which told Chloe this shadow was definitely not broken, was the read eyes that stared down at her, almost as if it was reading her.
"Well, if it's not gonna attack me, guess I should make the first move."
Just as Chloe was about to move her hand to summon a few small twisters, she realised she couldn't move. The more she tried, the more painful it got to even try to wiggle her fingers.
"Oh no, fear of paralysis, it doesn't need to take a form for this one!" Chloe screamed as she struggled against the spell.
However, as she was panicking because of the paralysis, she wasn't paying attention to her enemy.
The shadow blob charged at her, phasing right through her and knocking the breath right out of her lungs.
"d.a.m.n! I need to break this spell before the next attack, or I'm screwed!" Chloe shouted, "Uhh, let's think, what have I read on paralysis spells? Not much because just the idea terrifies me! Think, think... Oh yeah they grow stronger the more you struggle, so they spell fades quicker the calmer you stay!"
Chloe closed her eyes and tried to deepen her quick breaths and calm her hyper nerves.
The shadow blob sent out a shadowy beam, aiming for her neck. If it hit she would be strangled. Just before it grabbed hold, wind suddenly sliced through it.
The paralysis spell had broken.
"Ok blob, you're going down!" Chloe shouted, as she summoned two twisters. They span rapidly towards the blob, tearing it to shreds as soon as they hit.
"Ha, guess the blob wasn't that strong. Because of the paralysis spell, it wasn't expecting to have to defend itself." Chloe said, watching the black sparks fall. "Only one boss left for me to fight, I don't even want to think about what it could be!"
Chloe then set off again, heading for her final fight.
--- With Oki ---
"Well that 2nd boss sure was creative. Mirrors were attacking me! Luckily they were easily smashed! Now I've just got that last one to fight." Oki said, while wondering the stone corridors. "Let's see... Oh, it's right here. I wasn't expecting to find the third one so quickly. Guess I should just get right into it."
After placing his hand on the slab, he watched the sparks form into a giant strip of black. It was like a starless night sky.
"Oh no... Kenophobia....Fear of...Voids..." Oki stuttered as he tried to back away from the growing blackness.
Suddenly it shot at him, scooping him up and submerging him into darkness. Panic set in.
Oki couldn't think straight as he desperately gasped for air. The shadow slowly suffocated him in darkness and fear, his thoughts jumbled in panicked messes scattered around his brain.
Without warning, a tear was suddenly ripped through the shadow right above Oki's head. Floating above it was a black shadow, staring down at him. However, instead of having lava red eyes, like the enemy he was fighting (or trying to fight), its eyes were an icy blue.
Oki smiled. Thanks Surina.
Before the shadow could close up the gap, Oki created a jet of water and propelled himself out of the darkness.
Landing back on the ground, he aimed the jet towards the shadow and increased its power.
The shadow was pushed back until it was against the wall. Oki then sent a rain of water droplets above it, completely finishing it off.
"Phew. I didn't think I was gonna make it." Oki said, trying to catch his breath. "Surina saved my a.s.s without even being here!"
Just then, a golden glint caught his eye.
"Is that a... Piece of a key?" Oki asked, as he approached it.
Sure enough, it was the bottom piece of a large golden piece.
"So Surina was right, the final boss does drop a piece of the key. Interesting." Oki began speaking into his earpiece, "Hey guys!"
"Ye?" Surina's voice echoed through the communication device.
"You were right, the final boss does drop a piece of the key!" Oki replied, excitedly.
"You defeated your third boss?!" Chloe asked.
"Yep, but Surina, it was all thanks to your shadow. If it hadn't of saved me from the shadow-void-thing, it would of been suffocated!" Oki replied.
"I'm glad we could help!" Surina said, "I've just defeated my 2nd boss, Chloe how are you doing?"
"I'm looking for my third boss as we speak." Chloe answered, "Wait a second, I've found it! Well, guess we'll talk later!"
"Oki, has any sort of pa.s.sageway opened up in your last boss room?" Surina asked inquisitively.
Oki scanned his room. His eyes stopped on a small corridor, located where the shadow was destroyed.
"That wasn't there before!" Oki shouted, "Surina, something has opened up!"
"Ok. Hopefully that means one will open up for all of us. If my predictions are correct, we should all be able to meet up after venturing through these corridors, as they should all link up." Surina replied, while trying to imagine where these pa.s.sageways could lead.
"Ok, well guys I'll see you there!"
With that Oki began venturing down the corridor, as Chloe fought her final boss and I, Surina, kept searching for mine. The horrors that could lie in that room, are still playing on my mind...
