SORCERESS 101 319 Solving The Puzzle

It was just that he really did not give the matter any thought before.

But now that his master already mentioned it, it was only then that he also found the things that had transpired to them over time were indeed way too coincidental, to say the least.

It was like they uncovered each missing piece of a puzzle without even knowing it.

It was only when all of these puzzle pieces were put together did they realized that everything was starting to fall into pieces, creating the whole picture of a puzzle.

[Since we are already talking about all the peculiarities that we had noticed so far, I would like to add one more to it.]

Ja.n.u.s said when he was suddenly reminded of something that had left him wondering before.

"What is it, Ja.n.u.s?"

Mu Lingxi waited for her cat to tell her another detail of their past that she might have missed.

Maybe what Ja.n.u.s was about to say could help her to unveil more of the truth behind everything that had happened. 

At that time, Mu Lingxi sincerely hoped that she could find the answer that she was looking for. So she could clarify all the doubts that were lingering in her mind.

Or to at least further understand the situation that they were currently at.

"MEOW"

[I already told you that I had lived for more than thousands of years, already, right???]

Instead of giving his master the answer to her question, Ja.n.u.s answered Mu Lingxi's question with another question.

"Yeah, you already mentioned it before."

Mu Lingxi was not sure why Ja.n.u.s asked her that question out of the blue, but she still gave him an answer.

"MEOW"

[Don't you find it weird that you found me as a kitten before but you saw me grow after a year and jumped into becoming a full-grown cat right away???????]

"Errr... I never gave it a thought before. I thought that is just how it was and it is normal. But thinking about it now. I'm not sure how to explain it anymore. Why it was like that? Would you mind explaining it to me, Ja.n.u.s? How did it happen???"

Now that her cat mentioned it, Mu Lingxi realized that it was indeed weird how Ja.n.u.s remained as a kitten for more than thousands of years but became a full-grown cat a year after meeting her.

It was as if, Ja.n.u.s started to age only after meeting her.

"MEOW"

[The truth is, I also initially thought that I was just a simple cat just like any other normal cats out there. Until I found you.]

"Until you found me?? Seriously?!!!"

Mu Lingxi reacted with a simper right after hearing Ja.n.u.s' last words.

For a split second, Mu Lingxi felt like laughing when she heard a cliche romantic line from Ja.n.u.s. But she was able to hold herself back at the last moment.

Good thing she had great control over her laugh box, or else she would definitely p.i.s.s her cat off.

"MEOW"

[It never came to me before that it was weird to remain as a kitten for a long time. I just live my life as it was and tried to adjust to my surroundings accordingly as soon as I can.]

"MEOW"

[I tried communicating with people every now and then but all my attempts failed. No one can hear me.]

"MEOW"

[Until one day, a bunch of stupid and heartless street children tried to drownded me on a creek, thinking that it was fun.]

Ja.n.u.s even have the energy to roll his eyes when he recalled the faces of those street children that tried to drown him before

"MEOW"

[I desperately call for help despite knowing that no one can hear me. But then you came and saved me from those evil street children.]

"MEOW"

[At first, I thought you can hear me that is why you came to my rescue. But I thought it wrong. You were just as dumb as the others...]

"Watch your words, Ja.n.u.s. Do you want me to drown you myself right now???"

"MEOW"

[Hey! Wait! Let me explain. That was before! Okay?!! I was just telling you what I exactly thought about you before! Don't' get mad, right away. Why don't you wait for me to finish my story first?!]

Ja.n.u.s exclaimed in defense. He even stepped back a little to put a safe distance between him and his master when he noticed how Mu Lingxi was glaring at him.

Although he knew that it was just an act in Mu Lingxi's part to intimidate him, it was still better to be safe than sorry.

"MEOW"

[Calm down, okay???]

Ja.n.u.s played along to the skit cooperatively. He even put his paws in the air to surrender.

"Okay..."

Mu Lingxi nodded her head and decided not to speak a word right after that.

"MEOW"

[Haist! Why are you always like that, little la.s.s??? You always have the tendency of cutting into my story. Regardless if it was intentional or not in your part.]

"My bad..."

Mu Lingix said almost reflexively.

"MEOW"

"Anyway! So as I mentioned, at first, I thought you were just like as useless as the others. But I soon realized how wrong I was. Because you were different.]

Ja.n.u.s paused and walked towards his master before he raised his head and looked straight to Mu Lingxi's eyes.

"MEOW"

[Little la.s.s, you took good care of me and I salute you for that. You gave me a place to call home. You fed me delicious cat meal and never let me starve no matter how expensive it was.]

[You even bath me even though I hated it]

Ja.n.u.s looked heavenward when he said his last statement.

"Well of course?! You stink! Don't you know that???"

Before she could hold herself back, Mu Lingxi once again blurted out what was on her mind and once again cut through Ja.n.u.s' storytelling.

Ja.n.u.s gave his master another side glance and sighed.

"MEOW"

[There.. there... there you are again.. Cutting through my story again and again]

"Errr...."

Before Mu Lingxi could even explain herself, Ja.n.u.s resumed his story already.

"MEOW"

[From then on, I started to realize that ever since I came to meet you, I also started to grow. Then a year later,  I  grew up and officially became a full-grown Antediluvian cat.]

"So you mean to say, you only really started growing up after you met me???"
