Since Bai Yao had become the most powerful witch, she decided to leave.
Her purpose to come here was to make herself powerful. Now she had achieved that. As to the final realm, she didn’t want to impose. At any rate, n.o.body had reached this realm in hundreds of years.
She had left her family for three years, and she thought she was powerful enough to go back.
Bai Yao prepared the package, planning to leave the next morning.
Today was the last day she would stay here. Though she had no love for Zi Qin, she thought she should go to say goodbye to him, so she went to his house. After knocking several times, she got no answer. Bai Yao then went to the Elder to say goodbye first.
The Elder already guessed she would leave sooner or later, but he was not prepared for her wanting to leave so soon.
“Elder, I have learned witchcraft for some time, and I want to leave now.” Bai Yao went straight to the point.
The Elder’s voice was as old as a pine tree. He knew she wouldn’t be part of the clan, but he carefully made a suggestion to her. “Bai Yao, I understand you won’t stay here, and I don’t want to force you. Anyway, your future is not in this land; however, you're destined to be someone who should care about the world.”
Bai Yao was confused by his saying. The world? Should she care about the world?
The Elder continued as he touched his beard softly. “Bai Yao, I know you are born a lucky girl. Now your adversity has been washed away by the peaceful life here. However, you have been lucky, and you’ll suffer for it. Now you are eighteen again. I don’t know if it is good or bad fortune for you this time.” The Elder sighed after saying this.
This was her fate, and n.o.body could change it.
Bai Yao understood that since she had this special good luck, she’d bear the bitterness. As to the fate of her second chance at eighteen, she’d rather see another different version.
“Thank you, Elder, I will mind this.”
Bai Yao thought of something else, something she wanted to make clear. “Elder, do you know where my master went today? I want to say goodbye to him.”
The Elder was stunned by her question. So, Zi Qin didn’t tell her those issues about himself?
“Zi Qin went down the mountain yesterday.”
Went down again? Bai Yao was curious about his real ident.i.ty yet again. She wanted some more information from the Elder.
“Elder, why does he co down so frequently in the recent years?” Bai Yao didn’t understand why Zi Qin was a special person who did not need to comply with the rules of the clan. This exception was the privilege of only some n.o.ble guests or those born of Wushan blood. So which kind was Zi Qin?
“Bai Yao, don’t try to understand him,” the Elder warned her.
Bai Yao frowned. “So, you don’t know, Elder?”
The Elder sighed and nodded. “Yes I do not know. I only know he is honorable and different.”
Bai Yao agreed with this conclusion. Zi Qin’s personality told everybody he was different. But he was like a secret forest to her, and that dangerous atmosphere was also the most charming part. It made her want to discover the truth gradually.
So she couldn’t get the answer from the Elder. Bai Yao bowed to say goodbye to him.
She didn’t go back. Instead, she went to visit Shui Linger.
The granddaughter was desperate with loss.
Seeing her laying on the bed without any spirit, Bai Yao felt awkward. The girl was always proud and self-willed. Now she was like a dead person.
“Shui Linger, you are wasting away only because you can’t defeat me?” Bai Yao wanted to stimulate her fighting will.
“You don’t need to boast in front of me. You already won.” Shui Linger’s voice was weak, but Bai Yao could feel that she was unwilling to admit her loss.
“I will leave tomorrow. Bai Yao won't be on the mountain of Wushan anymore.”
Bai Yao’s claim seemed to ring untrue to her. She was leaving? “Bai Yao, I don’t need your sympathy of concession.” This truth made her feel more humiliated.
Bai Yao laughed out loud. “Shui Linger, I am not a saint. I will be waiting for you to take back the Most Powerful Witch t.i.tle, always.”
Shui Linger felt chilled. What does Bai Yao mean? She wants to encourage me? The weak Shui Linger was more like an obedient lady-girl than the usual arrogant witch.
Knowing that she was moved by her words, Bai Yao continued. “Shui Linger, you are the only granddaughter of the Elder. The clan needs your protection.”
After this instruction, Bai Yao left. If Shui Linger still had a conscience, she would know what to do.
Today, her heart was soft. Maybe because she was leaving now? Then, let her be soft today.
Bai Yao hung around the whole mountain before she went back to her own house. The maid Tingyu was arranging her package. Seeing her come back, Tingyu was tearful. “Lady Bai Yao, when can I see you again?”
Tingyu always admired her like an idol. Her perseverance, strong mind, and decisive heart were her traits. She had been taking care of her for three years, but Bai Yao didn’t bother her too much. Instead, she did most of the personal arrangements herself. Tingyu was unwilling to let her go.
“Tingyu, we should always say goodbye. If we have karma, we will see each other in the future.” Bai Yao had already gained a deep insight into acquaintance and departure.
The three years had made her mature.
Tingyu nodded. Even though they wouldn’t see each other again, it was a wonderful experience to know her as such a different person.
Another night of wakefulness. Bai Yao put on her out dress to feel the cool wind for the last time.
Her memory of the night she won the compet.i.tion came to her mind again. That night, Zi Qin was different from his usual self, soft and weak, just like she was now.
Zi Qin, who are you indeed?
The second day, Bai Yao took her package onto her back and left her room.
When she saw the door opposite her to Zi Qin’s house was still locked, she sighed. Then she relaxed.
Zi Qin, it looks like we have no karma. Let me regard you as a normal companion of those short three years in our long lives.
Bai Yao turned to leave without concern.
