Qin barges into the library and Sir Devant quickly stands up from his chair.
The library had many books on the shelf. From old to new. Any book that you can name it will be here. The desk was put near the window where bright light emerged from. Sir Devant stood behind the desk in a long traditional robe.
"How may I help you, Your Majesty?" Sir Devant fixes his gla.s.ses.
"Why is Tian having mood swings for? She was fine a moment and then the next she was like a wild tiger." Qin sits down on the chair next to the table.
"Your Majesty, Lady Tian is still in the changing process. Her adrenaline level must be abnormal that is why this can happen." Sir Devant fixes his gla.s.ses.
"Devant." Qin calls out his name. Sir Devant froze at the sound of hearing his name for the first time in such a long time. How long has it been since Qin called him that, and on top of that, Qin called his name in a calm polite manner?
"Yes, Your Majesty." Sir Devant replies in a surprise.
"How long has it been since we have been like this Devant?"
"What do you mean, Your Majesty?"
"Don't call me, Your Majesty. And don't be too polite. It's just you and me here."
"Very well. As you wish Qin." Sir Devant sits back on his chair. It has been a while.
"I want to talk to you as a friend. As an ally and not someone who works for me." Qin closes his eyes.
"What do you want to talk about?" Sir Devant puts down his gla.s.ses.
"Devant, I just keep thinking about where did we go wrong?" Qin looks at Sir Devant with a confusing expression, like he was hoping for an answer.
"I don't know about that Qin. You know better than me." Sir Devant lets out a deep sigh.
"Do you still blame me for your youth being taken away?" Sir Devant thinks carefully before answering his question.
"Yes." Qin looks at Sir Devant in surprise. "Yes, I do. This is one of the things that cannot change. If not for you and your love for her, I would be different now. Things would be different. I would not be treated like an old man, especially by you."
All the time that Sir Devant talked, Qin listened to him quietly.
"I hate it the most when you order me around and treat me like an old man. I hate it the most when you start to repeat the same mistakes. You never listen to me do you?" Sir Devant starts complaining about things endlessly. If anyone heard them then they would mistake this for a lovers quarrel.
"I do resent you the most but nothing could change anything now." Sir Devant picks up the gla.s.ses and starts fondling with them.
"Why can't you break the spell and have your youth back?" Qin asks the same question again.
"If I could I would have done so already." Sir Devant looks at Qin and finds him smiling while looking out the window.
"What are you planning this time?" Sir Devant ask Qin suspiciously. For the years that Devant had known Qin, this smile of his had meant something evil and sinister.
"Nothing," Qin replies.
"Do you really expect me to believe that? You planned the whole thing of having Tian here and then blamed it on Zylan for the mistake. What other evil are you planning?"
"Devant, you know the only thing I fear is you. You know me better than anyone else. I would do anything to have Tian by my side and you know that."
"I feel bad for Zylan. He is probably roasted by the ex-fiance of yours." Sir Devant gets up from his chair and walks towards the bookshelf.
"It doesn't matter to me. I know you are the only one I can trust Devant." Qin gets up and walks towards the bookshelf as well. He looks through the rows of the book until he finds one. He pulls it out and flicks a few pages before speaking again.
"Did he believe you that Tian and I are not married?" Qin asks Sir Devant.
"Who?" Sir Devant looks up from the book.
"The spy in the chamber who talked to you after I left with Tian." Qin smiles.
"Him? Of course, he believed me. How long do you think I have been a double spy for? My lies have become truth and trustworthy to others." Sir Devant puts the book back on the shelf and looks for a new one.
"I don't understand one thing, Qin. What are you planning? You are playing with fire you know. You are doing this all for just one girl who doesn't even remember you." Qin walks towards Devant and hands him the book he was holding.
"I will let you know when the time comes Devant." Qin turns around and leaves the room.
Sir Devant looks down at the book he was holding and it read in clear letters: TWIST.
Qin had read this book over hundreds of times when Tian was not here. Sir Devant puts down the book on the table and looks out of the window. He thinks back to the question that Qin had asked: 'How long has it been?'
Sir Devant thinks about how long had it really been. He thinks about the time when they promised to protect Tian. The time when Qin first met Tian. It was love at first sight and everything was like fate.
Fate? What a funny thing it is? Back then Tian loved and came to Qin on her own but this time she rebelled against him.
"Would Tian remember everything? Remember how she is the villain and not the heroine." Sir Devant whispers quietly while staring at the window. Peacefulness and quietness were not bad in every once in a while.
How has everything changed super quickly? How did they end up here like this? Right. It's all part of the plan after all.
