(Ch.10) Arrival of a Regiment

Although a shooting happened this morning, everything still happens normally today. The shooting site at Canglan is quickly blacked, forming a sharp contrast with us.

Grade 12 is very boring. You need to stuff all kinds of things you think are completely unrelated to you into your head, just to write them on to a piece of paper at July and forget them all in the next four years.

Our English teacher is a kind old lady. There's rumors about her teaching Chinese at a private school in England, giving our cute teacher a very unique habit: She always speed through paragraphs of English, and when translating it to us in Chinese, she always go slow and try to perfect her p.r.o.nunciation, as if she doesn't want us to miss anything. It's always make me speechless……

I am kind of squinting, trying to pick out fragments I can understand from her authentic British accent(which is about as challenging as trying to a.n.a.lyze the composition of Pharaoh's breakfast from a stone board) when a paper ball hit me on my head.
I catch the paper ball, quickly calculating the direction, velocity, angle, wind speed when the paper ball is thrown……OK, let's open it……
There's line of possibly highly encrypted alien language on the paper, "Jun, is your sister OK?"
This font that look like what Van Gogh wrote with his left hand after two liters of liquor is definitely from Qian Qian, and only a few people on this planet can understand. This also make us not need to worry about being seen by other people when we are pa.s.sing paper back and forth on tests……in a sense, her words works the same as codebook.
"She's good, her cla.s.smates and teachers are all nice to her. I don't think anyone would want to bully a blind girl." I responded with a font not easier to read than hers.
"Who knows. Take care of your sister, if she gets bullied you are to blame."
That was surprising. Pandora's appearance and her made-up story really worked……now Qian Qian is her No.1 guardian.
Bullied? Thinking about her battle mode this morning, my face starts to twitch. How many troops would it take to bully such a war-weapon?
While I'm still imagining Pandora fighting human united army with anti-phase cannon on one hand and Psionic Sieging Cannon on the other, a strange feeling comes out from deep within my mind. This feeling…… is Pandora trying to contact me?

No, not Pandora. According to her, as my chief a.s.sistant officer, there's a "unlimited communication channel", allowing her to talk to me through mind whenever anything happens. But the signal in my mind now feels like a request for connection, Pandora won't need this.
Although I don't know who it is, it's definitely related to Xiling Empire. I look down at my book, pretending to be focusing my book, to hide the surprise that might appear on my face (according to my experience, there's always "surprise" whenever Xiling Empire contacts me), and accepted the connection.
"This is world arbitration facility No.2, Gaia, requesting direct connection to the emperor." A message indicating its ident.i.ty appears in my mind.
Gaia? I pause for a bit, but soon remembered, she's the translucent girl I saw in my dream.
I have a lot of doubts about the dream, like, why's there only one fortress (now I know it's called world arbitration facility) in the sky, where's the other two? Why would it come close to the ground? What the heck is world arbitration facility? Is Gaia the soul of the fortress?
Although I have tons of doubt, because of the discontinuous connection with the mother-star(one of millions of Xiling mother-stars), fragments of information after the long trip in no-delay spatial tunnel could not possibly project the world into my dream again, just like lagging on games when the internet speed is too slow. My dream world is fixed on the image I saw that night, and my connection to the mother-star nearly broke. Even Pandora could not get clear connection from the mother-star.
I tried to ask Pandora about world arbitration facility, but she said that she doesn't have enough authority to acquire any information related to the world arbitration facility.
So……why is the AI on mother-star trying to contact me?
Out of curiosity, I accepted the request, at the same time, I sense mental connection of another frequency. That frequency belongs to Pandora. Without her amplification, those messages wouldn't be much easier to understand than my teacher's British accent.
Although it claims to be "no-delay", our distance is still too far, and Pandora also needs time to amplify and a.n.a.lyze the messages, Gaia's voice takes a few second to reach me. Her voice is very "Xiling ", calm and gentle, but the context almost made me jump.
"First regiment of our empire's Expeditionary Force started spatial transportation one hour ago according to your local time, they are estimated to arrive at your planet 12 hours later, please be prepared to receive."
Ah? What? Wait, are you sure you didn't get anything wrong?
None of my questions are answered, the connection already ended. Looks like this time it's also an unstable connection, it only lasted for less than twenty seconds, but left me with tons of worries.
Expeditionary force? What the heck do you want to conquer?
"Pandora, did you hear that? The expeditionary force."
"Yes."
"Do you know what's happening? Why's there suddenly a regiment?"
"To make it simple, they are my direct subordinate regiment, Heavy Pandora Regiment."
She said that calmly. Although this is only mental connection, I can still easily imagine her answering this question with her calm, emotionless face.
Maybe, for her, sending an army anywhere isn't anything worth mention, but for me, it's something REALLY BIG!
I think, I just saw my peaceful life running away from me……
