The silent ambiance of the restaurant they agreed to meet-up in stirs the tension among the two young men.
Wyn smirks, "Jealous? Why should I? I mean... she's my ex-fiancee, why should I be jealous over a thing I had?" He crossed his legs and intertwine his fingers and placed it on his knees.
Clark observes Gerwyn's gesture, he's tensed and acts as if he's not the bubbly type of person he is, "Well, I am glad to hear that but I would like to ask you a favor, please don't ignore her calls. She's been down since she tried to reach you earlier, saying that she's sure that you are, in fact, ignoring her. Which even ruined my date."
Gerwyn's stern face showed a shock expression for a second then looks away, pretending to be looking at the people around, "I was not ignoring her calls," he said while remembering how Blue told him that he saw that he did ignore her calls, "I was busy."
"I see. Then, please tell her. She's not the type of person who will calm down with words from other people," Clark said.
"I know," Wyn whispers, "Anyway, why did you call me? I am sure that Sheen's not the only reason, Mister White," he said and looks straight at Clark.
"Yes, about the new Lee Mar Company, I think we can make great partners," Clark said nonchalantly but Wyn suddenly snorted, making Clark look at him with his eyebrows furrowed.
"I am sorry, Mister White, but I think you're looking at the wrong perspective of my company," Wyn said as he let out a laugh, "I am not a friend... but a threat." He said and his face turned roguish with a smirk.
Clark sighs, "Well, that's a comedown, I just thought you're a friend since you're Sheen's friend. But, why did I even expected that I mean, it's a business world and those who know how to play... wins," Clark said and fixed his necktie while staring at Wyn, showing him that he knows the game and is a pro before standing, "Thank you, Mister Lee. Have a great night," he said and reached out his hand for a shake.
Wyn stared at him, annoyed, "You're welcome, Mister White," Gerwyn stands up and took Clark's hand, "But remember, I was her first fiance."
Clark stared at Wyn, shaking his hand, "And I will be her one and only husband."
Gerwyn tightens the grip, "Oh, I would like to see that fantasy be played in a movie."
Clark smiles, "What doc.u.mentation that will be, good night, Wyn." He said and let go of Wyn's hand and went away, leaving Wyn irritated.
"I see you have another enemy, Sir," Mr. Rogers said as he starts the engine while looking at Gerwyn in the restaurant sipping his coffee while staring at nowhere.
"Yes," Clark answers while taking his necktie to lose, "I was wrong about him. I thought he's just this puppy that follows Sheen around, wagging his tail to get her attention, yet here he is, a wolf that is ready to attack anyone who comes his way."
"But Miss Sheen has turned him down already, am I right, Sir?" Mr. Roger asks as they start moving.
"Yes. But even if he wears that wolf fur, he's still a puppy to me, a little whimpering puppy, begging for love and attention."
"Yes, Sir. You are absolutely right. Also, about Miss Sheen's parents, we have given them the money for putting up their own business and they will arrive tomorrow morning."
"I see," Clark rests his head on the backrest and closes his eyes, "Do you think she will love to see them?"
"Of course, Sir. She will."
Sheen tosses back and forth on her bed while staring at her phone screen which shows Wyn's phone number, "Are you mad at me?"
She sighs and put her phone on her chest with her eyes closed, feeling the cold air brushing against her face.
She didn't realize that the message she was composing for Wyn while waiting for Clark during their date was sent, making her having to meet with Wyn tomorrow if he agrees.
Then, it slowly came, tearing through her peaceful rest, her mind that is full of worry, darkens.
She bit her lips, trying to suppress her tears. She hasn't cried for some time and it all comes in waves tonight.
Even though things have been quite fine, with a simple blow of worry, she stumbles down, even almost destroying her date with Clark earlier.
If he didn't say something, Clark might've been through the worst date he ever will have.
Her mother texted her that they will come to visit her, making her feel excited, but what scares her is that she never had mentioned that she's engaged.
It makes her afraid that they might go against her engagement with Clark.
As she slowly opens her eyes to stare at the ceiling her phone rings, she picks it up and the name that popped made her sit down, "What?" She exclaimed.
"Wyn?" She answers the call, making her heart go excited and worried at the same time.
"Yeah," Wyn answers, his voice seemed sleepy, making Sheen feel happy, "Hey, yeah... Uhm, sorry I missed your calls. I did see them but I was to busy."
Sheen just listens as her eyes tear out even more.
"I know you've been thinking about it for the whole day. I know you, so sorry. Really, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to do that, it's just that I was about to answer but you know, things come up and I know it's my fault for not taking any time to answer back." Wyn said, sounding sorry and genuine.
"You know if pouting can be heard, I think I am listening to it," Sheen giggles, "It's fine. No worries."
"Really? You're not angry at me?" Wyn gullibly asks.
"No, no... I am not. I was just worried."
"So we're still meeting tomorrow?" Wyn asks while staring at a bouquet he ordered for Sheen tomorrow.
He just got home from his meeting with Clark.
"Yes! I am so excited to see you. I missed you so bad!" She replied with a wide smile while rolling on her bed with the pillow in her arms.
"Then, good night. See you tomorrow, sweet dreams."
"Good night too, Wyn."
Sheen stared at her phone for a while as she feels her happiness come back.
Wyn's a dear friend to her and they've been through a lot, having him upset will greatly ruin her mood.
"Thank G.o.d I can sleep well now," Sheen whispered as she put down her phone slowly and closes her eyes.
Gerwyn stared at his picture with Sheen on his phone taken when they were still "engaged." He bit his lip as a frown shows up, "I know I can treat you better. I can, Sheen, so please, just another chance?" he whispered.
"What the h.e.l.l, Wyn? What is this? What's that?" Bea shouted while pointing at the bouquet Wyn is holding in his hand.
She's on her way to grab a snack when she saw Wyn waiting outside the building and when she asked him what's his business, "I told you, it's for Sheen."
"Come here," Bea pulls Wyn away from the building, they stopped in front of a bakery right next to the company, "Why? What's it for?" Bea asks with an irritated face.
"Why are you angry? I just want to give it to her. Is there anything wrong?" Wyn asks while pulling his hand away from Bea.
"Okay, okay. So you ignored her then and now you're giving her flowers? I know you were jealous because she's getting engaged but now you're trying to sway her away?"
"Excuse me?" Wyn raised his eyebrow with an offended tone, "Jealous? Sway her away? Are you crazy? I am not like that!"
"Really? Wyn, you know me. I get things right at the first bat."
"You're wrong this time," Wyn looks at his watch then at the building.
"Just spill it, I won't get angry since I did root for you once," Bea answered with a folded arms while looking at the bread inside the bakery.
"What? You did?" Wyn asks.
"Yes, darling," Bea answered as she caresses her stomach which has grown a bit. It's already showing a baby b.u.mp.
"Why?" Wyn asks, giggling. He never thought that Bea did like him for her cousin.
"Well, 'cause you are just perfect for her... BEFORE," Bea emphasized as she looks for her wallet on her pocket.
Wyn looks down.
"Don't be sad. I know you still love her. But Boss is there for her now. No need to worry, why can't you just let her be happy? I thought you understood that."
Bea went inside and pulled Wyn, "Can you buy me some bread, Wyn? Please? I forgot to bring it with me. I'll pay you back."
Wyn just nodded and handed her some money, "But you know, Mr. White is always busy. He won't be able to stay by her side all the time. But I can. I can let go of the company and just manage a book store, you know?"
"That's sweet," Bea took the money and looks around for bread, "But Sheen knows what's best for her. If she can live with Clark being busy, then let her."
"What if she needs someone?"
"She can handle herself. She's not the same like before. She can handle her emotions well now, Wyn. Don't worry too much," Bea took a couple of bread and went to the cashier to pay while Wyn just follows her.
"You've been too busy lately. Do you want to hang out with us? We will have a movie marathon at Sheen's place. I think she'll love to have you around."
''Yeah..." Wyn smiled as they walk out of the bakery.
He clenches his fist behind the bouquet, even though Bea's telling him that Sheen will be alright, he knows Mr. White will never be able to stand by her side.
"Are you going to wait for Sheen?" Bea asks while eating the bread while sitting at a bench outside the bakery.
"Yes, I told her I'll wait for her here since you're here, I thought I should stay with you for a while. By the way, how's your baby?"
"He's doing fine!" Bea answered while caressing her tummy with a wide smile.
"He?"
"Yeah! I mean, I hope HE is a he. I want to have a son who will protect me like how you do with Sheen," Bea giggled and waves at someone.
Wyn turns around and saw Sheen walking towards them.
He froze, she's smiling widely, the smile he missed so much.
'I can't take being only a best friend, Sheen, I am sorry' he thought and stands to greet her.
"Hi," he shyly said as he gives her the bouquet.
"Oh, thank you! You didn't need to give me this," she said while thinking about the bouquet she has on her condo from Clark.
Wyn smiled and hugs her, "I missed you," he whispered, startling Sheen.
"Oh... me too," she whispered from surprise.
Bea looks at Sheen worriedly, she wanted them to be together before, but from how things are going now, it's better if she ends up with Clark.
Sheen pats Wyn's back as she felt the hug is going on longer than usual, but she did miss Wyn honestly.
"Do you want to spend time with us tonight? We have the same day-off, Bea and I will be having a movie marathon," Sheen asks as Wyn pulls back.
"Yeah, I'd love too!" Wyn answered.
Bea went back to the company while Sheen and Wyn had a quick coffee on a small coffee shop.
"See, Clark is really sweet but he gets upset easily especially if he's expecting too much. Just like last night, we had a date and I forgot about it and I thought he won't push the date since he let me go out without saying anything but he suddenly arrived so the date went on," Sheen smiles while the cup is on her hands.
Wyn just watches her telling stories about her and Clark which he asked in the first place to know how their relationship is going.
He suddenly notices, she smiles genuinely this time, her eyes are sparkling with excitement and happiness unlike before.
"Do you really love him?" Wyn suddenly asks, making Sheen stop from telling stories.
She suddenly went quiet for a while, Wyn just tries to read her as she looks down.
"Yeah, I do," Sheen looks up at Wyn with the brightest smile he ever saw from her, "I love him so much that it scares me. I never felt this way before."
Wyn's face went sad and happy at the same time.
Sad because the person he loves is in love with someone else and happy because at last, she found someone who loves her.
"I thought I loved Kady the most, like I can die for him. But when it comes to Clark, I don't want to die for him. I want to live. I want to spend the rest of my life with him," Sheen giggled.
She took a sip and looks at the bouquet Wyn gave her, "You know, I love you too. And I know I will always love you because you're always there when I need you."
Wyn's eyes grew wide as he feels his tears forming.
"You're sweet, understanding, kind. You always try your best to protect and save me. So, Wyn," Sheen's hand held Wyn's arm, "Be happy and find someone who will see things that I don't see, things that will make someone love you so much that they'll spend their days beside you."
Wyn nods as his tears flow down, letting his pain be washed away, letting his armors down from the battle that he is planning to start.
He just wants Sheen to be with him because he knows, he is sure that he will do everything for her. And handling her to someone he doesn't know, it scares him that it will hurt Sheen.
"Just promise me, you're sure about White. I don't want to see you crying about your broken heart again. And if he ever makes you sad, I promise, Sheen, he'll regret it."
"Yeah, yeah. Don't cry," Sheen said as she wipes Wyn's tears away.
"I am not crying, I'm just allergic to flowers," Wyn excused as he took the tissue away from Sheen's hand to wipe his own tears.
"Noted," Sheen giggled, "Don't worry, things happen but Clark won't make me sad intendedly."
They continued to talk about what they missed in each other's life for the short absences while Mr. Rogers entered Clark's office.
"Sir, Miss Sheen's parents are now traveling they will be arriving around 10 P.M."
Clark didn't look at Mr. Rogers and just nods his head while signing papers, "Alright, please fetch them later. But send Sheen first back, I have to buy some gift for them later."
"I can do that sir," Mr. Rogers offered.
"No, I want to give them a present I bought for myself. Just prepare my car."
"Yes, Sir."
Mr. Rogers took one last glance at the smiling Clark who's excited to see his future parents-in-law.
