Chapter 154: The Snow Monster of the Northern Region
Jiang Yun’s body froze on the spot when Qin Xiaoxi suddenly hugged him. He didn’t even dare to move.
However, this was the first time since they left Thunder City almost half a month ago that he saw Qin Xiaoxi so scared.
The monster was still heaving at the entrance of the cave.
The two of them leaned against each other tightly, not daring to make any sound.
At that moment, with no bonfire, everything became extremely cold. Qin Xiaoxi could only feel a little warmth coming from Jiang Yun’s body.
After a while, the red light that filled the cave gradually faded and the cave returned to darkness.
The cave began to shake again, but this time, the sound of the monster walking seemed to indicate that it was walking farther and farther away.
It seemed that the monster was walking away.
The two of them let out a sigh of relief.
Qin Xiaoxi also heard the monster walking away. The two of them looked at each other for a while.
Jiang Yun looked at Qin Xiaoxi’s watery eyes and was stunned for a moment.
Qin Xiaoxi immediately let go of Jiang Yun and turned her head to the side.
“Were you afraid?” Jiang Yun asked.
“I was not afraid…” Qin Xiaoxi muttered, “Why did you wake me up?”
“If I didn’t cover up your mouth, your sleep talking would have called that monster over.” Jiang Yun quickly teased in order to ease the atmosphere.
“Nonsense, it’s dangerous to be with you.” Qin Xiaoxi quickly stood up.
“Then Miss Qin can go find another cave.”
Qin Xiaoxi shook her head and said, “I can’t defeat that monster, so I’ll have to continue troubling you, Sect Master Jiang. I’ll stay with you.”
Jiang Yun just smiled.
However, with her back to Jiang Yun, he didn’t notice that Qin Xiaoxi’s face was as red as an apple. Fortunately, the two of them were in the pitch-black cave, so Jiang Yun couldn’t see that.
“What is that?”
“If I’m not wrong, it should be the snow monster of the northern region,” Jiang Yun thought for a while.
Qin Xiaoxi was stunned. “It was so big! Didn’t you know, its face was at the entrance of the cave just now. I even saw its huge red eyes. It was terrifying.”
“I didn’t even think that the snow monster of the northern region would be so big.”
It seemed that the northern region was indeed full of danger.
Even the rumored snow monster was several times more ferocious than what people said. This place was extremely dangerous.
“Fortunately, I cast a barrier at the entrance of the cave before sleeping, so the monster couldn’t see e us. If we didn’t do anything, I’m afraid we would have been in a lot of trouble tonight.” Jiang Yun couldn’t help but sigh.
However, it was a good thing that Jiang Yun woke up in time and realize that something was wrong.
If he and Qin Xiaoxi both fell asleep, the consequences would have been severe.
Qin Xiaoxi looked at Jiang Yun, and for some reason, a strange feeling welled up in her heart.
It had been more than ten days since she left Thunder City with Jiang Yun and Jiang Yun had shown her his outstanding abilities in every aspect. He seemed to be able to guard against everything, and he never panicked when facing difficulties.
This man seemed to be very reliable.
Qin Xiaoxi couldn’t help but wonder what would happen to her if Jiang Yun wasn’t here in the northern region with her.
“Are you sleepy?” Qin Xiaoxi suddenly looked at Jiang Yun.
“Why do you ask?”
“Nothing, I just felt that you haven’t slept much lately,” Qin Xiaoxi replied.
Indeed, Jiang Yun hadn’t slept much in the past ten days. He planned to stay up until midnight, but he fell asleep.
“I can do without sleeping.”
“That’s not good either. You should get some sleep. I’ll keep watch for a while.” Qin Xiaoxi looked at him worriedly.
“Can you do it?”
“Of course I can. Just sleep.” Qin Xiaoxi quickly rolled her eyes.
“Okay, just let me sleep for a while. Wake me up later.”Jiang Yun leaned against the stone wall behind him.
“Why aren’t you lying down?” Qin Xiaoxi asked curiously.
“I’ll sleep too deeply if I lie down. If I fall asleep like this, I’ll be able to wake up in time if you…we encounter any danger.” Jiang Yun paused and changed “you” to “we”
“I’m fine. Go to sleep.” Qin Xiaoxi shook her head helplessly. “Can I light a fire?”
“Yes… you can.”
Hearing that, Qin Xiaoxi began to fiddle with the bonfire in front of her. She put a handful of firewood into the extinguished bonfire and used her spiritual power. Soon, the warm and bright light filled the cave again.
“Hey, Jiang Yun…”
Qin Xiaoxi called out to Jiang Yun behind her as she fiddled with the bonfire.
However, for some reason, Jiang Yun never replied.
Qin Xiaoxi turned her head around in confusion and saw that Jiang Yun already tilted his head and was breathing heavily.
What? He had already fallen asleep.
Qin Xiaoxi shook her head helplessly. She got up and covered Jiang Yun with the blanket that she covered herself with.
Jiang Yun’s face was tilted to the side and his eyes were closed. A faint snoring sound emitted from his nostrils.
“You said you were a light sleeper… yet you’re already snoring.” Qin Xiaoxi shook her head while holding back her laughter. She sat beside Jiang Yun and said, “You sleep faster than a pig.”
Qin Xiaoxi tapped Jiang Yun’s hair with her fingers.
But one tap wasn’t enough.
Qin Xiaoxi tapped a few more times.
Jiang Yun’s nose was very handsome.
“He doesn’t look so good when he closes his eyes,” Qin Xiaoxi murmured. She played with Jiang Yun’s hair for a while and then went back to where she was lying, she slowly sat down and hugged her legs.
At this moment, the snowstorm outside the cave was still going.
Tonight was the first time she saw the terrifying snow monster.
It was also the first time Qin Xiaoxi felt a trace of fear.
