"Tell them that the mission is to destroy this place now" Moria shortly responded and looked around "We'll separate in two groups from now on, one in each direction. This place seems to be quiet. Look out for the cameras and see if you find a way to the underground levels" He instructed and immediately took half of the squad with him in one direction.
Jin looked at his comrades and sighed, he really wondered if he was working a bit too much. He took his laptop and sent a message to everyone: "//Objective updated: Destroy the facility. Locate and destroy the aerial defenses"
"Done" Jin closed his computer and slowly advanced with everyone else. They would stumble on some doors along the way and would always check what was behind. The cameras were placed really casually so they could always pa.s.s them.
The squad knew that it was too easy and that the lower floors would most likely have at least a miniature camera each centimeter hidden on the walls. That's the point the security reached those days. As a representation of this place's importance, there were only storages for food or ammunition behind the doors and they were not even Eion charged.
But each time, the squad entered one of the rooms, Lomen, the artificer, would take a sort of black case and press a b.u.t.ton on it that would release a circular object on the ground which would make a beeping sound for a second before turning silent. They did that for each room they pa.s.sed by until they finally arrived at a part of the corridor where there was a path leading toward the actual entrance of this building.
And at the same time, there was a steel gate just in front of it. When they arrived there, they saw another group of soldiers, one of the squads that sneaked inside with them.
"Code: Walker" Arima called the group with the name of his squad since he was the highest graded in the absence of Erin and Moria.
The soldiers from the other team briefly pointed their weapons but then put them down just after "Code: Azer" One of the soldiers said and both him and Arima nodded at each other.
The two squads then gathered in one of the rooms near "Let's be quick. I'm Haze" The leader of the Azer squad presented himself.
"I'm Arimane, I'm the leader for this group. Now, did you check what could be behind those doors?" Arima answered and asked.
Haze nodded and glanced at one of his men. The man in question stepped forward and projected a synthesized image of what they saw behind the door thanks to an optical fiber.
It was a huge circular hall, filled with armored vehicles, weapons, and guards. There were some workers in there too, moving materials from a place to another and particularly to a hoist load in the middle of the room.
Arima frowned at the sight "We can't go in, huh?" He muttered and Haze nodded.
"Also, that place seems to be filled with cameras capable of recognizing the people working there thanks to an electronic chip they have with them" The technician of that other group added and Jin nodded as he looked at the data they were sharing "The good thing is that there are no cameras capable of transmitting images"
"We have a way then" Arima said "If we can get one of those chips and copy the signal, we can work more freely" He declared and looked at Jin "Can you make a 'live' map displaying the position of the cameras and their field of view?"
Jin mused for a second and placed his computer on a table "I can. Give me a minute"
"I will go, of course" Tieria smiled and said to Arima. It wasn't a question, obviously, but an affirmation.
Arima faintly smiled and nodded "We can only do that. We'll infiltrate this hall and take a chip from one of them to copy the signature. There's always ventilations in this kind of place, we'll go from there" Arima said and interacted with the map, he found one ventilation on the roof of the big room that led to one of the rooms the Azer squad had actually pa.s.sed by before.
"Fine, we'll follow you" Haze said and led Arima's squad. It was quite interesting to note that not once did Haze even talk about Arima's age or question his competence based on that.
At the same time, Jin sent the information to Moria and the latter responded that they would arrive soon and they also had met another team on their way.
When Arima's group arrived at the vent, one of the members used a sort of laser to cut the metal bars closing the thing and also the fan behind. Before going in, Tiria used a small device that beeped three times and expanded as she pressed on it. She threw it inside the vent and waited. Every soldier in the room crouched and covered their electronic devices with a special material.
The object Tieria has thrown was a powerful EMP. When the wave was sent, everyone even managed to feel it as they felt dizzy for a second.
"Here I go" Tieria went inside after that. Now that detectors inside that vent were shut down, she could go inside. She swiftly went inside and reached the first wall before looking up. She turned on a flashlight and put it in her mouth as she climbed the vent.
She continued to move in that thing until she reached the vent just above the room. There was a big fan just in front of her and had to take it out. She grabbed a thin thread and let it enroll around the fan. She then pulled it.
Then, with the other hand, she used a small laser to cut the fixations of the fan while pulling the thread. In the end, she pulled out the fan without making any noise and waited until it stopped spinning before putting it aside. She then quietly cut the bars while looking at the live map Jin had made.
When she had finally a clear view of the entire hall from the roof, she looked around and spotted the closest person. It was a challenge of patience now, she attached herself with a special rope to the vent and waited for the timing where the cameras would be moving and the target she chose was in a good position.
Arima and Haze looked at everything through the small camera Tieria carried "By the way: 'Walker'. Your squad is the one which sent the objective update, right? What happened?" Haze asked Arima.
The latter borrowed Jin's tablet and showed to Haze alone the images they saw earlier. Haze firmly held the table and closed his mouth with all of his strength like he was preventing himself from shouting "…I understand" He said and gave the tablet back.
"We've already set G-Mines in the rooms we pa.s.sed by after we destroy the lower levels and get access to the commands of the defense system, the plan is to call an airstrike to erase every trace" Arima explained and Haze nodded.
At the same time, Tieria jumped out from the vent and directly fell on the poor guy. She knocked him out in a second and she pressed on an apparatus she had attached to the rope. She instantly went up again with the unconscious worker.
She went back inside the vent without anyone seeing her and threw the guy inside. Arima and Haze heard a huge noise, followed by multiple others and then, a beat-up guy fell on their side.
Haze wryly smiled and glanced at Arima "She's really good"
Arima lightly laughed "Yes she is" He said and picked up the guy with a smile. He was still alive so he planned to interrogate him. From his appearance alone, he couldn't see his nationality and couldn't deduce what country or power was behind all of this.
Arima searched the guy and found a chip attached to his clothes which he gave to Jin immediately. He then pressed his thumb and index on the guy's throat before pinching him like that. The worker instantly woke up and almost screamed but Arima covered his mouth.
"Good technique" Haze was quite impressed and praised Arima.
"Thanks" Arima casually responded and put the worker against the wall "Talk" He said and released the guy's throat just after hitting it at a certain place.
When the man tried to shout, he realized he couldn't and coughed "Talk slowly and not too loud" Arima grinned and said.
The captive looked up and started talking "Кто ты? (Who are you?)" He talked in another language.
Haze raised an eyebrow "Russian?" He exclaimed and Arima mused before staring right into the man's eyes.
"Хороший вопрос. Что ты думаешь о моем?Кто ты? (Good question. What do you think of mine? Who are you?)" Arima then started speaking in Russian too and it wasn't only Haze who was surprised but all of his squad, including Tieria who just came back.
"Are you serious?" Jin murmured. They knew that Arima could already talk five different languages including English but now he just showed that he could speak one more. Arima's learning ability was shocking for everyone.
'This guy learned all of this just by reading books!', this was their common thought, and common complaint.
The Russian man gritted his teeth and fell silent "Fine. I'll make this simple" Arima said and asked a truth serum to the medic. He injected it into their captive and waited for a little before Arima asked one more time the question and he started to say everything.
The more Arima listened, the darker his expression became. When the guy finished, he immediately knocked him out and sighed.
"What did he say?" Haze asked.
"Aah" Arima sighed strongly "That guy said that he didn't know much about this whole thing but he knew one thing. That this plan wasn't Russia's idea or something. To be exact, this whole installation is something created by both China and Russia. Those two powers allied together for a reason only the devil knows and then started this"
"What?" Jin exclaimed before everyone else could "Are you serious?"
"Yes" Arima said and crouched down to tie the unconscious guy and searched him a bit more before finding an ID card. He looked at it and flipped it before throwing it away.
"Tch" Haze clicked his tongue and rubbed his temples "This is actually a big problem. This could lead to a world war. And now you're telling me we need to do something about it…"
At his words, everyone in the room felt extremely pressured at the moment. They all wondered if they just should alert the higher commands and then attack this place with more people.
"Bad idea" Arima retorted to everyone's thoughts "We're already in. At this point, maybe they will realize that we're here before we can leave. The only choice we have to avoid a crisis is too finish this job" Arima declared and grabbed his case and then looked at Jin.
"Send everything to Moria and duplicate the signal produced by the chips on our intercoms. Now that the cameras in that room are not a problem, we will go a bit rough" He said and left the room.
Jin looked at Tieria and blinked "What just happened? Did Arima just acted like an actual superior?" He asked. Tieria smiled and shrugged and then also followed Arima.
Jin's looked with dead eyes and then followed Arima's instructions "Seriously, you're the closest to him, say something" He muttered something that everyone else heard.
Haze smiled and encouraged his own team to follow Arima "Done" Jin said and closed the laptop "Signal copied" He then left the room with the rest.
The four groups met in front of the huge gate. Moria came back with the other squad and their entire force was now around sixty members of the special forces.
"I heard everything. We don't have time to lose" Moria said to Arima and the latter took his rifle before pointing it at the gate's lock and shooting at point blank.
