Chapter 40 Special Treatment

“Trust me, I was Fei Mu!” the old man emphasize his word.

“Say trust me once again, I will definitely kick you” said Wu Dong Fang with annoyance.

Finally that old b.a.s.t.a.r.d shut his mouth.

Because Wu Dong Fang was taken to fly all night, it really makes him tired and sleepy, just lie down for a while and he already fell asleep.

At dawn, after the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d woke up, Wu Dong Fang heard footsteps and opened his eyes. From the window a little ray of light can be seen penetrates into the house, he can see that old b.a.s.t.a.r.d was carefully leaves his bed and walked silently toward where he put his wine last night.

Wu Dong Fang lying motionless, he was thinking whether he caught that old b.a.s.t.a.r.d when he starts drinking or after he has been drinking. After thinking he pretended to cough once, although that old man is not yet eighty years old, at least he looks like already in his seventies, it is not problem to bully him, but he should not hit him.

When that old b.a.s.t.a.r.d heard Wu Dong Fang cough once, he surprised, after that he hurriedly turned his body and ran to the bed pretending to sleep again.

The day slowly brightened, drum sound can be heard from slave’s place, later you can hear noises outside. There was male voice shouting, there was also female voice that is calling you can also heard foot sound running around.

“What sound is that?” Wu Dong Fang rise from his bed and sat.

“Someone came to deliver food” said old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

“Why you not join with them too?” asked Wu Dong Fang.

“I’m not slave”, old b.a.s.t.a.r.d rise from his bed and sat while pointed his finger to west wall and said “Can’t you see? There is wheat there”.

“Why when you lie down your back doesn’t look crook-backed and when you sit your back crooked down?” asked Wu Dong Fang curiously. Usually old people back will crooked down whether when they sit or lie down, but this old man not crook-backed when he lie down and when he rise from his bed.

“Even if I tell you, you probably will not understand”, said old b.a.s.t.a.r.d while wear his shoes.

“I just recently arrive in this island, can you tell me about the condition of this island “, Wu Dong Fang stood up.

“Why should I?” said old man while opened the door and then walked out of the house.

Wu Dong Fang walked out of the house too and then saw this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d leisurely peeing next to the door.

“Next time, don’t peeing near the house”, Wu Dong Fang looked toward northwest, there are bunch of small wooden houses, on the east side there is a vacant lot, you can see a crowd of people in the vacant lot, In front of a crowd, there are several piece of horse carriages. The horse carriages carrying bunch of wooden barrel, it contains rice and porridge. Close to the horse carriages are a bunch of soldiers, more or less there are fifties to sixties soldiers. They were chatting and joking, they did not partic.i.p.ate to distribute rice and porridge, the one who responsible for distributing the rice were slaves themself.

“It looks like there are about four thousand people”, Wu Dong Fang muttering himself, those slaves were dressed like a beggar, tattered clothes, you can’t even know which male and which female.

“Good eyesight”, said old b.a.s.t.a.r.d while tuck his p.e.n.i.s in his pants.

“Can you wait until you’re completely finished peeing than talk?”, Wu Dong Fang frowned.

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d does not care what Wu Dong Fang said, tying back his trouser belt and picked up a piece of wood and sat on it, then yawn several times.

“What they are eating?” asked Wu Dong Fang.

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d did not answer.

“Are male and female slaves all live together?”, Wu Dong Fang asked again.

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d still did not answer.

Wu Dong Fang squatted down to saw the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d, the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d was not frightened, he opened his mouth and yawn, his mouth odor makes Wu Dong Fang turned his face.

“You’re not afraid that I will beat you?” asked Wu Dong Fang.

“Could You beat me to death?”, The old man c.o.c.ked his head as he asked back.

“Then you must be vigilant, because I will repay what you did to me,” says the old man.

Wu Dong Fang sighed, is hard to live happily on this island. The only one who doesn’t need to do manual labor is physician and he himself is actually a fake physician, he doesn’t know how to treat people and so he need to rely to this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d. As you can see, this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d doesn’t afraid getting his a.s.s kicked, he just can’t fight back, but he surely will get his revenge when there is a chance.

Old b.a.s.t.a.r.d crossed his arms, then use his shoulder to nudge Wu Dong Fang, “Young man, how about we make a deal?”

“What?” Wu Dong Fang wondered, why people in this world still like to make a deal.

“Give your wine to me and I will be your friend, how about it?” says old b.a.s.t.a.r.d while laughing.

Wu Dong Fang pop out his eyes while stare this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d mouth that almost doesn’t have teeth anymore and said “On what basis?”

“Let’s just say that yesterday you disrespect me” after finished saying that, old b.a.s.t.a.r.d stare at Wu Dong Fang with hostile, then hurriedly soften his face than saying “Just half, you can give me just half the wine.”

“How about this, regarding to treat the slaves, you will do it yourself, I will not take part of it.” Wu Dong Fang started to negotiate.

“Yes, yes, yes you can” the old man replied immediately.

“What are they eating?” asked Wu Dong Fang.

“Porridge but not porridge”  old b.a.s.t.a.r.d replied

“What do you mean porridge but not porridge ?” Wu Dong Fang asking again.

“That is…… errr how I explained that, that is…., well, come with me, I’ll just take you to have a look at that “porridge” and that’s mean we have agreed with our agreement, yes?” this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d att.i.tude suddenly turned to one hundred eighty degrees.

“Let’s go take a walk!” The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d walked a few steps, then suddenly turns his body toward Wu Dong Fang and drag him along with him.

“Are they allowed us to see that porridge?” , Wu Dong Fang point his finger to the soldier near horse carriages.

“Calm down, my position are quite high in here” replied the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

Wu Dong Fang sighed again, living with this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d who likes to brag was depressing.

No matter the position of the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d high or not, it turns out the soldiers did not hinder them, Just inquire about Wu Dong Fang, the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d replied that he was a physician who had just recently taken by Yun Zhu.

This time Wu Dong Fang feel lucky he did not hit this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d, although showing his authority towards this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d are important, but it will be useless if he can’t go anywhere because of that. Wu Dong Fang smell pungent sour, but the smell was not coming from wooden barrels but coming from the slaves who were queuing food, their clothes were ragged apparently had not been washed for a long time, that’s why in winter you can still smell a pungent odor.

Once he moved closer toward the slaves, Wu Dong Fang finally understand what old b.a.s.t.a.r.d saying that he has authority here. All slaves were begging to him when they saw the old man coming, like a desperate man who just found a savior.

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d stared at the slaves for a moment, then walked towards one of the horse carriages who near them. He then climbed to top of the horse carriage and pulled one of the wooden barrels, after that he scooped some of the food inside of it, inside there is a piece of cleaned bone, some vegetable that already yellowed, a few piece of rice.

Wu Dong Fang patted the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d to urging him to get rid of the “porridge”. Most likely the slaves ate the leftovers of the soldiers, you can say a pig will not really want to eat that “porridge”, or maybe it was pig food.

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.ds took the bone and returns the leftover into the wooden barrel, then pull the carriage and returns the barrel to the top of the horse carriage.

After leaving that place, Wu Dong Fang to turn around and look at the slaves. This time he realized that the slaves who were initially begged the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d now turned into rage, these changes make him feel uneasy.

“Why do they look at you like that?” Asked Wu Dong Fang.

“They hope that I can convey their words to the soldiers, to provide better food.”  The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d was still holding the bone, and then rubbed his hands to his body to cleanse the sauce that remain in his hand.

“Why did not say anything to the soldiers?”, Wu Dong Fang asked back.

“Food is already cooked, if I say something to the soldier they will definitely scolded me “, the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d felt he had let slip the talk, he coughed twice and then silence.

“You do not say anything, they must have mad at you?” Wu Dong Fang to turn around again to look at the slaves. The slaves were already returned to queue up for the food, some of the slaves who were on the train to distributed the food is seems more robust than the other. They took the bowl whose each slaves holding and scooped some porridge to the each bowl while jokes around and laugh among themself.

“No, they were mad because I took one of their bones,” replied the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

“The bone was completely cleaned and there is no meat left in there. After all, there is so many people, they will not know who’s going to get”, said Wu Dong Fang.

“As it was in the barrel, there is still chances to get it, but if taken by me they will certainly not be able to get it”, said the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

“If you already know it, so why you still taken it”, Wu Dong Fang smacked his lips, unsatisfied with this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d doing.

The old man was angry and could not stand it any longer, “you do not understand! , I take it to be examined”.

Wu Dong Fang sighed, obviously there is plenty of food at home, he really does not understand why this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d took the bones that already have no meat on it.

“The clothes they wore were from former army clothes, huh?” Wu Dong Fang asked, the slaves average clothes looks torn and ugly, but it can be seen clearly a bit similar to the clothing of soldiers.

“Not everything, there was some taken from the dead”, the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d pushed the door and entered the house.

“What They’re actually do in this island?”, Wu Dong Fang sat in one of the chair.

“They are built a shrine”, the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d took the bone and walk toward the west wall, took the axe and split it into two, then give half to Wu Dong Fang, “the bone marrow, really fragrant and delicious”.

“Thank you, you eat it yourself”, Wu Dong Fang did not pick it up, when the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d was willing to share the bone, at least his views against him change for the better.

“What do you mean they are built a shrine?”, Asks is the fastest way for him to understand this place.
The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d did not answer, his eyes staring at the corner where the wine is placed on.

Now, Wu Dong Fang understand why, it turns out he shares the bone was no other than to got his wine, even though he had a view towards the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d was already a bit better, but now they back to ugly again.

Wu Dong Fang shook his head, “look for something that can be poured on, than we can share this wine together”

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d hurriedly looking in the closet, then finally found one empty jars made of porcelain, Wu Dong Fang take the wine and poured until the jar was full,, the old man still searching, then found again a small ceramic bottle.

“Still have to pour half a bottle of this, if not, it will not fit with our agreement.”

“You can took the rest” Wu Dong Fang leave the rest of wine to the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d, he himself took a ceramic bottle earlier.

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d had no think that Wu Dong Fang would be so good to him, “even though you do not understand manners, but you actually have a good heart. You, become my disciple! I will teach you the knowledge of my treatment.”

“Back to the previous question, What do you mean they are built a shrine?”, Wu Dong Fang put his wine away.

“You can say that they build an altar to worship heaven and G.o.ds,” replied the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d as he closed the lid keg of wine, then look around the house, much like the fox who was looking for food.

“Do not worry, I will not steal your wine”, said Wu Dong Fang. The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d was laughing, he opened the lid of wine, and then spit twice into the wine.

Wu Dong Fang wanted to throw up when he see it, never had he seen people such disgusting like him.

“Anyway, the locals enforcer here cultivate the laws of earth, why they are not built it themselves using their power? It could be much faster”, Wu Dong Fang asked the old man.

The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d put his wine on his bed, he then replied immediately, “You’re definitely not a shaman”.

“How?”, Wu Dong Fang asked surprised.

“If you are shaman, you will not ask stupid questions like that, how can you built a shrine using magic?, do you want to deceived the deities or ghost?”, The old b.a.s.t.a.r.d get up, then sat on the floor.

“Then, what are we usually do in here?”, Wu Dong Fang asked again.

“Treating a sick slave”, replied the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d while eating his bone marrow earlier.

“If soldiers who are sick, we will not take care of them, huh …?”, Wu Dong Fang kept asking.

“Here, there are seven to eight people local shaman, we does not need to treat all people,” replied the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

“I’ll make some porridge to eat”, Wu Dong Fang stood up.
“You not need to do that, there will be people who cooked for us,” the old b.a.s.t.a.r.ds discard that bones.

“Who’s cooking?”, Ask Wu Dong Fang.

“The female slaves” replied the old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

“Why do they have to cook for us?”, Wu Dong Fang still confused.

“For that” The old man pointed to the wooden plaque hanging on the west wall of the house.

“What is this?” Wu Dong Fang walked out there and took one of them, a wooden plaque that is similar to the moon cake, topped with a sphere.

“The plaque marks for sick, for those who have it, they do not have to work … ..”
