"Wu Qianqian, don't kill our son!"

Liu Li grabbed her shoulders and pulled her away from him. There was a huge cut worth fifty st.i.tches across Liu Xiaodan's abdomen, and his mother slammed her body against his chest. Who couldn't have died with that?!

"Xiao Li, take your hands off of me! I just wanted to hug our son! What's your problem? Whaaa!" She continued bawling like a heart-broken teenager.

"Qian Bao, please. You can hug him, but don't do it like that. You'll make him bleed again." Liu Li ma.s.saged his wife's shoulders. He then smiled at his son. "Xiaodan, should I call the nurses?"

"No need, Dad." Liu Xiaodan only chuckled, ma.s.saging his abdomen. He didn't want them to call nurses right now. He was still more horrified of the fact that he could move his arms like they weren't amputated and then reconnected... more when he felt no searing pain from his abdomen.

Did Liu Guangru heal him overnight? How?

Wu Qianqian sniffed harder before scooting her chair closer to her son's head and reaching out to hug her son. "Xiaodan, this useless one is so slow! She couldn't be here any sooner!" She rubbed her cheek against his. "Why could she do for your future? Without having decent arms, how were you going to carry the camera?!"

Truly, Liu Xiaodan had always seen himself as a disappointment to his parents, but only Liu Li would agree to that. Wu Qianqian never looked at him that way; if anything, she kept on blaming herself for giving birth to Liu Xiaodan in such an unimpressive body with an unimpressive brain. Her own incompetence had fruited into a child who could have been the best without her genes. Liu Xiaodan didn't know why his mother was like this, but somehow, his father was able to make her feel worthy of getting married to him at least.

"Mom, I'm okay. I can move my arms like before!" Liu Xiaodan laughed out and moved around to a.s.sure his mother. "The doctors and nurses were all miracle workers! It's like nothing had happened to me, see!"

"Erm, that's good. Very good." Even Liu Li was afraid that his son was crippled for life. Even though his recovery was too fast, the father cared too little to let it bother him. As long as Liu Xiaodan could move properly, he could at least land on a job related to his degree.

None of these two knew that Liu Xiaodan was a brilliant director. Only the school and police did for now.

One of the nurses had seen them talking, and she felt relieved seeing that Liu Xiaodan was already awake. However, when he received his mother's body slam, she struggled to twist the k.n.o.b open. Then... she watched Liu Xiaodan move around. That wasn't possible; he was scheduled to stay for another two weeks before rehabilitation would start. She quickly phoned the doctor, scared of having Liu Xiaodan aggravate his st.i.tches.

That was a four-hour surgery. She didn't want it to go in vain.

Seeing that the doctor jogged towards her, she entered the room. Her shock was still on her face before racing to Liu Xiaodan's side. "Mr. Liu! Please don't exhaust your wounds!" She grabbed his shoulders to stop him from moving. Liu Xiaodan blushed a little as he got caught misbehaving by the nurses and doctors. Even from the fact that his mother was making this dazzled face at his recovery.

The doctor cleared his throat and narrowed his eyes at the patient. "Mr. Liu, please stop moving for now. Let me check your st.i.tches." He then mellowed his eyes when looking at the parents. "Mr. and Mrs. Liu senior, would you please step out the room?"

Wu Qianqian clung at her husband. "Tell them we're staying. I wanna see what happened to my little boy."

"Ah, could we just stay at the side?" Liu Li got up and pulled Wu Qianqian with him. He wanted to see as well, but he should keep them out of reach from his wife. Who knew what she would do when she saw what fifty st.i.tches looked like?

Since they stayed away on their own, the doctor felt okay with their decision. As long as they wouldn't disrupt his check-up, he wouldn't mind. Two more nurses entered and helped in changing the dressing of Liu Xiaodan's shoulders. Even Liu Xiaodan's eyes twitched as he saw blood and pus mixing on the bandage; however, the flesh didn't seem eaten away by a malevolent rip. The skin joined together naturally with the thread holding it as good support.

Liu Xiaodan frowned at what he was seeing. The wound looked normal for a post-surgery view, but why did all the tissues and veins inside felt like they weren't ripped apart? To be honest, Liu Xiaodan was sensible enough to know that even the doctor and nurses wondered at his arms' movements. His flesh looked bad, but the arms were moving just fine.

Sharing the silent discomfort, the nurses proceeded to redress the wound. They did the same for the other, and it gave them the same results. They then removed the sensitive bandaging on his abdomen, only to find the inner flesh already covering the cut. Just yesterday, his intestines were exposed, and even his stomach was ruptured. Just after one day, his abdomen had gone through what should have been two weeks' worth of healing.

The doctor was terrified at the results; did he just pick up a superhuman? Then again, at least, there wouldn't be problems of infection anymore. The patient was already safe now, and he could be transferred to a recovery room. That was all that mattered right now. He made his report and discussed the transfer with his parents. The nurses redressed the wound with a little uncertainty on their faces. Both had not eaten breakfast in fear of vomiting upon seeing Liu Xiaodan's wounds; they were just interns after all. It seemed that there was no need to do so.

Minutes after, a rolling bed was taken to his room. Liu Xiaodan had to be moved now, and so he was transferred to a new bed by two male nurses. He had to feign his pain, seeing how careful they were with him. It would be really weird if it wasn't painful getting moved to a new bed. Then again, if it was just Liu Xiaodan, he could just stand up and lie down on his own.

The bed got rolled out of ICU, and Liu Xiaodan was trying to see behind them. His parents were both at a side with the doctor on the other. He spied on a black figure trailing behind them, but he had no idea what it was. It was too tall to be a person, but it felt like one. He couldn't see its eyes, but he felt its gaze upon him. Soon, it vanished.

They reached the elevator wide enough to cater to bed transfers, but with only a few hands in tow. The parents and the other staff had to take another elevator while the two male nurses accompanied Liu Xiaodan. The student sighed in relief, but the air in that elevator was suffocating. More when he realized that coldness was on his feet. Before he could make another a.s.sumption, a figure crawled out from beneath the bed and onto his legs. It was a female ghost in a patient's garb.

Her eyes glared at Liu Xiaodan, and she was clearly being hostile with her hissing. Her graying fingers were already like claws that could dig through Liu Xiaodan's abdomen. However, he couldn't move too much, or else the two male nurses might hold him down. He could only place his hands on his wound, hoping she wouldn't touch him.

For some reasons, Liu Xiaodan wasn't terrified of seeing her here. He had gone to a hospital before, and he had seen his dose of scary ghosts. However, there was still nothing as deathly as an angry Liu Guangru.

Truly, there wasn't. The woman was about to dig through Liu Xiaodan when she turned to her side. At the next second, the lights died while the elevator continued to move. The male nurses gasped in terror as if they had heard stories about this phenomenon. Was it really all too unusual for a hospital to have ghost stories? With all the Yin energy coming from the dying and those who had died, it was no wonder that ghosts plagued this place. However, what they didn't know was that Liu Xiaodan was protected.

Such a rather strong and feared mogui was protecting his father.

In the pitch-black darkness, a horrid scream of a woman was heard. The male nurses couldn't see anything, but they both crouched down in fear. Liu Xiaodan only shut his eyes closed in reflex. However, nothing happened next. The lights came back on, and the elevator dinged upon reaching the destination. The male nurses hurriedly transported the bed out before the three noticed that blood dripped from the hatch in the ceiling of the elevator. The doors closed, and the two male nurses could have peed a little in what they experienced.

Why wouldn't they? The stories went like this: the lights go out, and the patients would scream. Sometimes, the patient would be shocked even to death; sometimes, the patients would cry that a woman tried to kill them. This time, a horrid scream from a woman echoed, and Liu Xiaodan turned out fine. Also, there was no blood in the story... but there was dripping blood in their version.

The rest had arrived with the other elevator, and they saw the male nurses eyeing stupidly at the closed freight elevator. The doctor frowned at them and tapped one to ask them to continue the transfer. The nurses then gossiped about the stories involving the freight elevator, making Wu Qianqian uncomfortable.

Her eyes turned towards Liu Xiaodan, her son aware that she had left her words unspoken. When even Liu Xiaodan's own father refused to believe him, his mother listened through his scary stories. She listened through all the bullying he received because of his special eyes. He was only a child; he knew he shouldn't lie with what he could see. Wu Qianqian had asked him not to talk about those anymore and just ignore everything he saw. He didn't take it to heart at first until he had grown a bit older. He grew reclusive when it came to those things and learned how to treat them as air.

Now that he had entered a haunted elevator, she wondered if he saw something. She grew scared and apprehensive about the gossips and clung onto Liu Li. The man then cleared his throat, in the direction of the nurses. The doctor had experienced said story, but he stayed quiet. Not because he pretended not to know, but because he knew that Liu Xiaodan had gone through something a lot stranger than this. Who would compare a ghost killing to a haunted elevator?
