Being able to see again was rather nice, though a bit jarring at times. And it had led him to a rather confusing revelation that he was still trying to figure out. Just how-?
"Raven!" He heard Dawn's voice, and his heart felt like it skipped a beat in reaction to her softened tone.
"Yeah?" He tilted his head back to look at her as she approached him. She was so beautiful. Golden hair spilling down her back, those gleaming golden eyes that always seemed to shine in the night, her entire figure so graceful as she moved. Anyone would agree that his queen was one of the loveliest women in the world.
Dawn sat beside of him. "You have been okay… right?" She sounded concerned, which made him want to laugh even as he found such a question difficult to answer.
It was really hard to describe just how he was feeling, honestly. And he had no idea how to begin talking about what was going on with him internally. On one hand he was upset, really upset. And on the other… he was happier than he had been for weeks. Maybe even months, years even? The years was hard to say as his memory was still spotty, so there was a lot he had to guess.
Honestly he did need to talk to Dawn, but he was not sure how exactly to bring it up, nor how to prove what he needed to tell her even. He still had no idea how she had not realized, honestly.
He had pretty much realized it as soon as his sight had returned, even if he had been in denial for a few hours.
Honestly, even if he had known how to tell her he still might not have. At least not yet. After everything she had put him through emotionally, a little bit of suffering wouldn't hurt her all that much.
He smiled at her, "Well enough. It's a fine night out, isn't it?"
"It is." She went silent, gazing up at the night sky. Her head was tilted back, and he could not help but admire her again.
He had always admired her, hadn't he? Even before he had ever really fallen for her? Even with his broken scattered memories he could remember that.
Even though he was utterly confused by her not recognizing her own husband, he still found their situation amusing. He was both really deep in the friend zone at the moment even as she mourned him so deeply.
A soft laugh left his lips at the thought, and he turned away from her. Anyway, it would be interesting to use the situation to have a bit of fun with his beautiful darling wife.
…. She would probably get really mad though when she realized that he had done so, once she found out. But he was sure she would forgive him eventually, maybe in a year or two. Or less, if she was just really really glad he had not died.
But that was a risk that he found himself ready to take.
