Chapter 1356 Racked Her Brains? 6
“We’ll leave this for later, as long as we know what to do.” Mu Yuchen quickly gathered his thoughts. “I think that Qi Lei’s not such a rash person either.”
Then, he slowly got up and walked towards the window as he silently looked out to watch the gloomy sky.
Xi Xiaye was stunned. She turned around and silently watched his figure. As she did, she suddenly felt a pang of loneliness. She thought about it, sighed to herself, then got up and walked over too.
A soft touch came from behind him. Before he could react, a pair of thin arms showed up around his waist, and he felt faint warmth from behind too.
“Mu Yuchen, do you…feel very, very tired?” As her voice came through, there was a hint of sadness for him that could not be concealed.
He paused and then smiled. Suddenly, he reached out to hold tightly onto her little hand around his waist. His low and sensitive voice came, “I’m alright. Compared to before, I’m much better.”
“Sometimes, I really can’t help but lament about how we seem to have fate to worry about, but it’s also because of that that we live with a clearer conscience. It’s fine to be a little more tired now. It’s so that everyone will do better in time. I will always be by your side no matter where you are…” she said, and her arms around his waist suddenly tightened. “I can’t do much, but…”
Before she could finish, the man before her already pulled her arms away and suddenly turned around to peer down at her.
Xi Xiaye was surprised by his sudden movement. Before she could react, his long fingers combed through her slightly messy long hair and touched her exquisitely beautiful little face. His voice was soft and gentle as he replied, “You’ve done too much already. I wish I could give you everything I have. Instead, it’s me who can’t give you enough. I keep forgetting to ask, from the day you married me, have you ever felt wronged?”
Upon hearing his question and meeting his gaze deep as the sea, she felt a little at a loss. In no time, she suddenly felt her eyes well up with hot tears. She sniffled, shook her head, and dove into his embrace as she said in a raspy voice, “That’s my good fortune.”
Most marriages were built on materialistic needs, especially a marriage like theirs. At first, that was probably what he thought of too.
He did not want to say that he was the kind of person who did not care about anything except love!
Back then, he had to admit that the reason he had decided on her was because of her looks and her personality as they had all been pleasing to him.
He had chosen her, yet she might have been alright without him because she did not lack any of those external things. She only lacked true love, and when it came to love…
Thankfully, he could preserve this love of his and give it all to her. Otherwise, he would really feel like he could not match her!
Other people always thought that Mu Yuchen was great. However, actually, to him, only the woman in his arms was the best, so much so that he would like to hold on tightly to her with everything he had. Of course, he would not say this in front of her.
He chuckled, then pulled her out of his embrace, and before she could do anything, he had already lowered his head to plant a kiss on her forehead, and then on her thin cold lips…
They were affectionate and a bit more loving than just a quick kiss. When they separated, Xi Xiaye’s eyes were slightly misty, and when she looked at him, she was beginning to find this fellow a sly one!
Not only did he know to use his charms to seduce her, but he even used actions to quietly take over her heart. If this guy really put in the thought, his flirtation skills would be carried out with precise accuracy, threatening Xi Xiaye all the time.
Of course, this feeling had nothing to do with trust. It was just—
“Mr. Mu, I think I should fatten you up. A man’s value increases with age…”
Mu Yuchen knew exactly what Xi Xiaye was thinking about. When he heard this, he could not help but reprimand softly, “Stop thinking of those things now. If I had those intentions, you wouldn’t be able to get me back even if you let tens of dogs after me. With your prestige, Madam Mu, do you think those people will be able to get close to your man? Even I’m afraid of you.”
“Of course, you say that when love is still here, but no one can predict the future. Maybe one day you’ll fancy some young, beautiful secretary, and when I scold her, you’ll even defend her and slap me. No, if that’s the case, I want to be like Doris too…mmm…”
Before she could finish, the man had already invaded her lips with a kiss in a punishing way, pushing her words all the way back.
“Why are you learning all the bad stuff now, Xi Xiaye?!” Mu Yuchen said through gritted teeth.
“Well, then you…”
“The next time thoughts like these appear in your mind again, you’d better watch out.”
…
“Mr. Gu, our Master sent us over. I’m Lawyer w.a.n.g.”
When Li Si went over, Gu Qiwu was very calm before the table. He only nodded slightly when Li Si greeted him, indicating for him to sit down.
“Your lawyer has already briefly explained everything to us. Don’t worry, Mr. Gu, our Master is someone who keeps his word. Even if it weren’t for the promise, our Master wouldn’t just sit by and do nothing for Miss Lingshi’s sake,” Li Si sat down and began to speak slowly.
Gu Qiwu sighed and leaned back against the chair. “I can understand his thoughts. It’s within expectations that Doris would do this. How’s Ah Mo now?”
Gu Qiwu’s voice had the heaviness of someone who had gone through many hardships. He sounded quite calm, but it was easy to notice a rare worry in his eyes. Even Li Si almost thought he had imagined it.
“We’ve found their most recent tracks, so we’ll definitely be able to find them,” Li Si answered softly.
Gu Qiwu then lowered his gaze and thought about it, before continuing to say, “I wasn’t behind what happened to w.a.n.g Qin though it wasn’t an accident either. Tell Mu Yuchen that I want to see him. Also, see if he can help persuade Lingshi as I want to talk to her.”
Without his usual sternness, Gu Qiwu seemed to become much calmer at the moment. For some reason, it sounded like there was an indescribable sadness in his tone.
“Master and Miss Lingshi don’t want to see you, but Master is saying that you can see Doris if you still have anything to say to her because the reason she did that this time…is…”
However, before Li Si could finish, Gu Qiwu’s cold laughter was heard.
