"That was an incredible battle against those Pokèmon thieves, "Campillo replied.
"You mean those thieves in green and gray clothes?" Rico responded.
"Yes, exactly, kid," Campillo replied.
"Oh, thank you, sir," Rico happily replied.
"'Oh, you don't need to call me 'sir,'" Campillo responded, "I'm Professor Campillo Nester, or just call me Professor Campillo;" he then offered Rico a handshake.
"I'm Rico Cruz," Rico happily replied as he accepted Campillo's handshake, "Nice to meet you, Professor Campillo." Lucas and Dawn then introduced themselves to him.

After their introduction to him, Rico asked Campillo, "So, if you are a professor, do you love studying about Pokèmon?"
"Yes, I do," Campillo brightly replied, "Ever since your age."
"Uh...I'm only eleven years old," Rico responded.
"Exactly, I studied Pokèmon from here to Kanto, Tahod, Unova, and as far as the Kalos region," Campillo replied, "I also had in touch with other professors from different regions."
"Oh, I see," Rico answered as he scratches his head, "Anyway, I had a Pokèmon. It's a Riolu." Stunned, Campillo responded, "Wow, a Fighting-type Pokèmon, and the first form of Lucario." Puzzled, Rico asked, "What's a Lucario?" Smiling, Campillo answered, "Come with me in my lab in the city, and I'll give you something so you could find out more about that Pokèmon."
"Sure!" Rico happily replied, "We'll come."
But before they could leave, Lucas loaded his son's bike into his car's truckload, and Dawn agreed to come with them. And as they drove away, a kid, with a Pichu holding a ukulele, was spying in the bushes. He then thought, "Wow, that kid was cool."
Arriving at Campillo's Pokèmon Lab at Peñon de Kawayan, Rico, Lucas, and Dawn sat in Campillo's office. Settling down on his swivel chair, Campillo started, "That was an outstanding battle with those Pokèmon thieves. How did you know those Pokèmon moves for your Riolu?"
"Oh, I read a book about Pokèmon moves, " Rico brightly replied, "And I memorized some Pokèmon moves too." Campillo then nodded in response, as he was interested. Rico then continued, "And I even created and displayed my battling style."
"Very interesting, Cruz, "Campillo replied, "But that's your starting point." Puzzled, Rico asked, "What do you mean?"
"That means you had learned and memorized some easy Pokemon moves, " Campillo responded, "But as your Pokèmon grew in strength, power, and energy, the more harder Pokèmon moves you have to learn. And sometimes, your Pokèmon may have difficulties learning those moves." Calmed, Rico answered, "Oh, I understand. Okay, professor, I agree with you, and I'll start with the easy ones."
Campillo then replied, "Good, Cruz, And I'll give you something: a Pokedex of this region;" he then showed them the Pokedex, a high-tech encyclopedia that records and stores information about Pokèmon. He then explained, "This Pokedex is a high-tech encyclopedia, invented by a professor from Kanto named Samuel Oak. This device will record the ident.i.ty and information of Pokèmon you caught or seen." They then amazed at that strange gadget. He then continued, "I'll give this to you, Rico Cruz;" he then gave it to Rico. Rico then accepted it, and responded to him, "Thank you, Professor."
"You're welcome, my child," Campillo replied.
"That's great, son," Lucas responded, "Anyway, let's go home. Your mom is waiting for you. And you have school tomorrow."
"Oh, she is?" Rico replied, "Okay, dad." Then to Campillo, "Professor, we're gonna go home now." And as Rico, Lucas, and Dawn left the laboratory, Campillo wavered goodbye to them. They then left the lab by car.
