She didn't want to open her eyes and chose to remain still, even when she felt someone took off her clothes and wiped her body or someone fed her to keep her alive, she knew that person was her young maid servant and she still didn't want to move, not even an inch.
The feeling was so unbearable, she felt as if she opened her eyes, everything would be so real and she couldn't accept the reality that she needed to face.
It was too harsh and too hard for her. She had never been in this kind of situation before. This feeling was even thousand times worse than the moment those wretch people took her dignity. This was worse than everything dreadful that had happened in her life.
She didn't know how she would be able to go through this and wasn't even sure if she could overcome this.
She was afraid and then numb and afraid again and numb. Those feelings come and go continuously without a break. She felt there was nothing matter anymore in this world, but than what had happened to her was a matter that she couldn't ignore.
This feeling was complicated and tiring.
People would a.s.sume she was in deep slumber and couldn't realize her surroundings as they treated her as the one for three days, there was no movement from her, though her complexion had been slightly better than the first time she arrived at the Greenhill Mountain, she still not yet awake.
"Is she alright? She still not yet wakes up since the first day she arrived." Qi Xunyi asked at the same physician, who had checked on Qianru before, with brows that knitted together as if the wrinkle between his eyes would last for eternity.
She was very familiar with this voice, this question must have been his hundredth question that he had asked since three days ago. The same concerned tone in his voice somewhat disturbed her conscience.
She wanted to open her eyes and see his expression, but it was almost impossible for her, dark had been surrounding her and she couldn't fight it any longer, she let herself sunk on its abyss.
Gradually the room became calm again, but Qianru knew that person was still there, his eyes were looking at her.
He didn't talk nor he would do something, he would just stay there quietly as if he was accompanying her.
Somehow, after sometime Qianru didn't mind his presence.
Qi Xunyi would stay there if Jinse and Lin Xinyang were not around as both of them also needed rest and recuperate from their own wound, especially Lin Xinyang, the long journey finally took a toll on her.
This situation continued for another two days while still there was no news from Xiao Jun and Mo Xuan Fei, or there was indeed a word from them, but they would not talk about it in Qianru's presence, though she was still in her unconscious state, at least that was what people saw from her condition right now.
The sixth day of their arrival, Qi Xunyi was sitting on a chair near Qianru's bad while reading a book.
The sound of the rain from outside filled the room with tranquility and sent the smell of wet ground. The harsh wind howled as if the sky was crying.
Qi Xunyi stood up and walked to get another blanket before he put it on Qianru to keep her warm.
"It's warm enough." A soft and hoa.r.s.e voice sounded when Qi Xunyi was about to continue read his book.
He turned his head abruptly and found Qianru's eyes were staring at him, her beautiful eyes were dull and lifeless as her pale lips opened slightly.
"Can I have water please?" She said again, seemingly exhausted.
It took Qi Xunyi two second late to response for her request as he took big strides toward the table and pour a warm water into a cup.
Qi Xunyi walked back and with his other hand, awkwardly, he held Qianru's upper body so she could drink the water more comfortable.
Actually, it wasn't an appropriate act for Qi Xunyi to do something so intimate like that, but he couldn't help himself to not get close to her.
In the other hand, Qianru even didn't mind with the way Qi Xunyi treated her, or she even didn't mind about anything else anymore.
At this moment, nothing was matter for her anymore.
She felt empty.
"Thank you." Her voice was barely a whisper in Qi Xunyi's ears.
The warm liquid moistened her dried throat and made her felt slightly better, when Qi Xunyi put her back on the bed and pulled the blanket up to her chin, all Qianru did was blinking her eyes. There were no tears there.
"Do you need something else?" Qi Xunyi asked carefully. "I will get something for you to eat, alright?" He said again.
But, there was no response from Qianru, as she kept her eyes locked on the window, staring at the rain.
After sometime still there was no response from Qianru, hence Qi Xunyi decided to go and got something for her to eat, she must be hungry.
"Alright, I will get…" Before Qi Xunyi could finish his word, Qianru opened her mouth and let out a name escape from her lips.
"Jun…" She uttered his name sadly.
Upon hearing that single name, Qi Xunyi felt something stuck on his throat, it was a harsh reminder for him that the woman before his eyes, someone who he had been care for these past few days, was belong to someone else.
He knew what that single name meant. That simple word held a lot of questions that Qianru wanted to ask.
"Still there is no news from him…" Qi Xunyi answered Qianru as he balled his fist to suppress the wave of emotion that he felt.
