His expression was devoid from any emotion as if no one would be able to give him any senses of feeling. Everything before his eyes was like blurry scene that no longer needed his attention.
Even when an ear- piercing slamming -door reverberating through the room, Xiao Jun didn't flinch. He stood there as calm as a lake without ripples on its surface.
"Stay away from her Jun." A deep and stern voice rang right beside him as he felt the cold sharp blade on his neck.
Even so the serene lake that reflected on his eyes wasn't disturbed when he tilted his head and looked at his younger brother right into his eyes.
Xiao Tianyao stepped forward, positioning himself between the woman on the bed and his older brother with a sword in the midst of tense atmosphere.
"Move back Jun." Xiao Tianyao clenched his jaw, his grip on the hilt of his sword tightened.
Xiao Jun didn't heed Xiao Tianyao's threat and warning, he shifted his glanced from Xiao Tianyao's ashen expressions to the pale woman on the bed with her eyes closed.
Seeing Xiao Jun's line of sight, which fell on Luna, uneasiness crept within Xiao Tianyao as his heart skip a beat. "Did you kill him?" Was his most concern question that he asked in callous way.
He didn't have a chance to see Luna's figure clearly under the blanket when he barged in.
With his brother was standing so close to her and unsheathed sword in his hand, Xiao Tianyao felt his mind didn't work properly, even his sword slightly trembling.
"Did you hurt her?" Xiao Tianyao took a quick glance at Xiao Jun's sword beside his body that was clean, untainted with blood, the most vivid thing that he would be able to see if he did kill her.
Xiao Tianyao was wary enough to not turn his body or averted his gaze from Xiao Jun, he knew what his brother was capable with.
Xiao Jun retracted his eyes from Luna and then looked at his brother with indescribable expression.
Both of them stared into each other eyes in deadlock position, if no one willing to yield then, whether the fight would break or they would stand their guard for long time.
But, after a minute full of tension, Xiao Jun didn't do both and took the former option.
He stepped back, away from the reach of Xiao Tianyao's sword.
Still that apathetic expression that was showing on their face, made one hard to read what the exact emotion, which currently was flowing, beneath that mask.
"She is sleeping." Xiao Jun said curtly as he walked toward the door while sheathing his sword again.
Only when Xiao Jun had disappeared behind the close door, Xiao Tianyao then turned around and checked on her.
Her face was paler than the last time he saw her and as a pregnant woman, she was much thinner comparing to a normal girl.
How the baby could grow healthily inside a weak body like hers?
He tucked her cold hand under the blanket and pulled it up until her chin, so she would not get cold. Her current condition has been worrisome no need to add with unnecessary cold to make it worse.
He didn't know what had happened before he came, but apparently Xiao Jun didn't hurt her in the slightest and this fact made Xiao Tianyao relieved.
Something that he himself felt odd.
After he checked on her and a.s.sured that she was fine, he took steady steps toward the door where Xiao Jun has been waiting for him.
His brother was standing in the middle of the backyard with his back facing him, folding his arms as if he was trying to restrain himself from doing something that he would regret later.
Behind him, Xiao Tianyao was approaching him slowly.
"She is pregnant." Xiao Jun said when he heard Xiao Tianyao's footsteps stopped near him.
It wasn't a question, but rather a statement. He had known about her pregnancy!
For some point it didn't surprise Xiao Tianyao. Since his brother chose to come here and determined to kill her, originally he couldn't find any suitable reason for him to stop, but now he knew.
In the end of the day, Xiao Jun was still his brother. Maybe he could close his eyes when he killed Luna because of her schemes and involvement with Modama, knowing she was his daughter, but he wouldn't be heartless enough to kill a defenseless woman with unborn baby.
It was something that his moral couldn't bear.
"Yes." Xiao Tianyao never wanted to lie to him, but he didn't want to tell him. Things had been very complicated without adding this news.
"Your child will be a descendent of a traitor." Xiao Jun announced the reality coldly.
It was clear as a day, what blood that would flow in that child vein. A traitor, a schemer, a murderer and the most important part, it was their mortal enemy!
How their blood mixed with them!?
It was a direct insult to their ancestor, to the previous Emperor and Empress who were being murdered by them! And now they would raise their bloodline? How ridiculous it sounds.
Xiao Tianyao gritted his teeth. He couldn't rebuke his brother's statement as he was telling the truth. That child would be their black sheep.
"Luna is in our side now." Xiao Tianyao tried hanging onto the only reason that he could offer. "How many times I have to tell you!?" His voice was raising, he felt agitated now.
"She is not in our side!" Xiao Jun turned around and glared at his brother, the dreadful emotion that he was barely holding was went off. "She tricked you once and she will definitely trick you again!" Xiao Jun shouted at his brother, eagerly wanted to knock some senses into his mind
Xiao Jun pointed his finger toward the direction of Xiao Tianyaos's room. Anger consumed his logic and blurry his vision. "That baby in her stomach is part of their plan! Can't you see that!? Or that woman has managed to turn you to be a completely lunatic?!"
The deep hatred and anger around the two of them was really hard to hide, with the second that pa.s.sed it became more palpable to the point of suffocating.
"I will repeat it again." Xiao Tianyao said slowly and dangerously. "She is in our side now." He enunciated his every word loud and clear. "I will not know Modama was going to black market if it wasn't for her and as far as I remembered, if it wasn't for me Qianru would have been kidnapped and your plan will not smooth sailing."
Xiao Jun's expression darkened after the reminder of Qianru's kidnapping attempt. He wouldn't admit it!
"These are two different things!" Xiao Jun seethed.
"These are two different things that are interrelated!" Xiao Tianyao glared at Xiao Jun menacingly. "What you will do now!? Force me to kill her and the baby!?" He sneered.
Xiao Jun was at lost in one side he couldn't bring himself to harm a pregnant woman, but at the other side he couldn't let the baby carried out Xiao's name!
The baby has nothing to do with the feud between them, but one day he or she would bring complication about their existence!
But to force Xiao Tianyao to kill mother child wasn't an option either.
"If you are really that capable and managed to do that, we would have been here, talking like a fool." Xiao Tianyao scoffed.
If Xiao Jun really could kill Luna earlier, they would have fought by now and no one could tell or stop them at that point.
That thought alone surprised Xiao Tianyao.
He would fight his brother for her, despite not being under her hypnosis. Was she becoming that important to him? But, since when?
This new realization puzzled him.
"Tell her to do it." Xiao Jun said curtly in rigid tone. "The existence of that child will harm you in the future."
Xiao Jun was about to go when Xiao Tianyao stopped him.
"Was our father the one who caused Xiao Zi's wife, Lu Weiya, died?" Xiao Tianyao stared at his brother impa.s.sively, but no one knew the messed up emotion behind that calm façade. "Is that true?"
"Who told you this?" Xiao Jun was squinted his eyes, trying to a.n.a.lyze their situation.
"So, it's true?" There was something broken within him when Xiao Jun gave indirect recognition of his accusation. "You have known all of this for long time, haven't you?"
Xiao Jun resumed his silence, but it only confirmed Xiao Tianyao's word.
"Then, there is no different between him and Xiao Zi." Xiao Tianyao picked the dried leave that stuck on a branch, twirled it between his fingers. "For the first time I understood why Uncle Xiao Zi wanted us to die."
"For us the highborn, no one has a clean record, including you and I." Xiao Jun stated the fact. "It is a curse."
Although they didn't kill people directly, but their underhanded dealing had taken hundreds people's life and another hundreds perished.
The circ.u.mstances probably different, but the life that was taken wouldn't be returned.
Ignoring Xiao Jun's word, Xiao Tianyao looked dagger at his brother. "…because if it happens to me I will do the same thing."
His icy looks and derision that exuded from him made Xiao Jun startled, his survival instinct told him to stay away from the callous man before his eyes.
Xiao Jun tried to regain his composure, anger bubbled up in his chest, ready to burst out. "In another words, you want to say it's justifiable to kill me if I kill her?" Xiao Jun chuckled, the sound that could make one shivered if they heard it, but definitely not his brother. "She is not even your wife."
The dried leave in his hand was crushed and was turned into flakes. "Leave now Jun. I will send someone to inform you about elder Chen if I got news, but I am not going to Zodasian personally." Xiao Tianyao said it calmly.
"This is it then." Xiao Jun expression darkened. "In the end we are going separate way." As if it was a good bye, Xiao Jun turned around and left Xiao Tianyao after saying that words.
Once again, the two of them walked on their own path.
No one would ever see this coming, the brothers who had been relying to each other during their struggled time and the most trusted aide for one and another, eventually grew apart.
The two of them were unshakeable and hardheaded, therefore since the two had determined toward different things, it most likely no one would relent.
They would continue the road that they had chosen, despite it wasn't the end that they wanted.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
