Once again, he only managed to find their traces. All three of them were gone and nowhere to be seen.
Frustrated, Fan Qianshi clenched his fists firmly.
Gu Xijiu always managed to escape from him. Her predictions were always incredibly accurate.
With a sigh, he decided to cast another Blood b.u.t.terfly. The little creature could be seen sniffling the scale on his fingertip for a long while. However, instead of flying off to find the target, it surrounded him stubbornly with no intention to leave.
Apparently, the spell would not work here. It only managed to help him convince Little Black to help.
…
Little Black was murmuring curses about its master by the time he came back.
It was definitely considered a swift return.
It was about from his expression that he was annoyed. Another one bit the dust, obviously.
Little Black was quite irritated by the scorching sun, but all of its irritation went away as soon as it saw how annoyed its master looked.
Fan Qianshi finally let go of its chains. “Check and see where they are.”
Without further ado, Little Black quickly worked its magic and began searching. It did not take long for the creature to point in a specific direction.
It then returned to its original position, waiting to be chained again.
To its surprise, Fan Qianshi did not intend to confine it with chains again. “Follow in that direction and run a hundred miles,” he commanded while pointing in the opposite direction.
Little Black gave him a confused look but decided not to ask any further. It did as told and started running.
Fan Qianshi then followed the direction that was provided by Little Black.
…
“My Lord, the black creature is suddenly going south,” Little Pink reported.
Gu Xijiu smiled victoriously. “Let’s mislead them.” She then scooped both of them up and started running away.
Fan Qianshi found nothing, yet again.
For a moment, he stood in contemplation, trying very hard to suppress his anger before going back to find Little Black.
Quickly, he developed a pattern from then on. Sometimes, he would travel with Little Black, and other times, he would travel alone. Occasionally, one of them would stay and wait.
However, regardless of his attempts, Gu Xijiu would always foresee his plans and make proper escapes.
Fan Qianshi tried to stay composed, but could not hold back his frustration any longer. He started to doubt Little Black’s loyalty. Perhaps it had betrayed him and exposed his whereabouts to Gu Xijiu, which put his pursuits in vain.
Determined, he decided to read Little Black’s memory to prove its innocence. If it was indeed a traitor who had been working with his opponent’s candle dragon, he could easily find out by reading its memory.
But, the result showed that it was not a traitor, which baffled him even more.
Had Gu Xijiu put some sort of tracking device on him?
How did she manage to escape in time, all the time?
…
Gu Xijiu was enjoying her bottle of honey water in a tent, along with Di Hao, whose soul was now in its solid form. He was able to eat and drink like anyone else, so he sat comfortably with his mom.
As for the pink candle dragon, it had its own bucket of honey water, too. Years of living in the desert had been tough. For the first time, it felt like life could actually be quite enjoyable. Life finally had a purpose.
It was born with thick skin, which allowed it to recover from injuries very quickly. After three days, most of its wounds had almost recovered.
Watching its two companions, it could not help but feel a little touched by what Gu Xijiu had done for it. The lady seemed fragile, but she never gave up on a friend.
Under such difficult circ.u.mstances, she never abandoned it. In fact, in every journey, she would carry its big sized body along.
It still looked like a giant python that was almost ten feet long, even though it was already an extensively shrunken size of its original form.
The lady treated its wounds and even gave it food and water. Being treated like a comrade made the pink candle dragon feel very moved.
In that brief period, the pink candle dragon had made up its mind. From now on, the lady would be its master; it would follow her for life.
