Mr. Zhu was shocked but remained determined to help. “I will go with you!” He offered, with a hint of enthusiasm.
Gu Xijiu was grateful for his kind offer. “Great! Thank you very much.”
Mr. Zhu smiled at her and comforted her. “Don’t thank me. It is not all because of you. I have my own plans, too. The deadly swarm is at least a thousand miles away from here. If I go with you, apart from keeping you safe, I also get to learn about the art of healing and all sorts of array formations.”
Gu Xijiu found his honestly quite adorable. She observed his bewitching eyes and asked, “What is your real name?” She could not keep calling him Mr. Zhu, now that he was already her disciple.
“Zhu Duqing.” The name was perfect for him, as his name literally meant that he was the only bamboo that was green; it was suitable for a man who lived alone in a garden full of dead bamboos.
…
Yuanyuan was on her bed. Sweat broke out all over her forehead. The Universal Net had left streaks of red marks across her skin. The moment she realized that things were going bad for her, she quickly covered her face with her hands. The marks were not particularly obvious, except for the ones on the back of her bare hands.
The wounds were not severe but caused her a lot of pain. She had been freed from the Universal Net for a while now, but the pain did not seem to go away.
Misfortunes abounded for her. Just when the pain started to fade, Mr. Zhu suddenly appeared and inflicted torture toward her, thus leaving her with two fractured bones. Moreover, he even cut her arms with the Emei Sword.
She took out two pills and swallowed one. The other one was, unfortunately, taken away by Mr. Zhu. As soon as the man left, she started smiling in a smug way.
The Emei Sword used to be free of poison. She purposely applied the poison at the tip of the sword to make Gu Xijiu suffer. After centuries of preparation, she could finally use it. The poison was made on the basis of her hatred, as a result of hundreds of years of resentment that she had against Gu Xijiu.
She finally made Gu Xijiu suffer. She did not want Gu Xijiu to have what she could not have. In fact, there were really two portions to the ant.i.toxin pill. One was taken away by Mr. Zhu while the other was specially made only for her.
When Mr. Zhu left her room, he accidentally alerted the guards at the door. When they came into her room to check, she was already covered in bloodstains all over her body. Panicked, they quickly informed the Devil King and summoned a doctor.
Di Fuyi got to her door quicker than she had expected. Yuanyuan listened attentively from the inside of her room with a throbbing heart. They were telling him about how badly she was harmed.
She thought that he would come into her room. Unfortunately, the long wait had shattered her hope. The doctor finally arrived and went into her room before Di Fuyi did.
She threatened the guards, saying that she would only allow the doctor to examine her wound if they told her where the Devil King went.
The guards dared not go against her will. She was, after all, the Devil King’s most beloved sister. They said, “The Devil King came to ask about the man’s features and your condition before he left. He should be out there looking for the man for your revenge, I suppose.”
The man, who she referred to as her brother, was scarily cold. She saved his life, but could not change him, or make his heart feel something he would not. He gave her the best life and provided her with a n.o.ble status, but he never let her get any closer.
She had been around for a few centuries, so she could tell what he was thinking. She could understand why Di Fuyi made her the princess. He needed her to be one of his tools.
Although Di Fuyi had done many terrible things to outsiders, he had always been quite open and frank with her.
