The reason why they're not going there straight away is due to the fact that the grimm have started to become more active during the day. Argo had already noticed signs of increased movement when she was trying to find a place for her and her sister to sleep.
Staring at his newly gained younger sisters and the torn and dirty rags they call clothes, Magna furrowed his brows before rummaging around the house.
A couple minutes later he felt a tap on his shoulder as the curious voice of Luna muttered, "What're you doing, big bro? Looking for something?"
With a proud smile, Magna softly patted her head while pinching her ears and said, "I've been looking some clothes for you and your sister."
Luna had a small blush on her face while her tail had turned into a small whirlwind. Giving a playful bite on his hand, Luna happily said, "Thanks but we're fine. I'm sure normal clothes would just be wasted on us."
Magna suddenly started tickling her as he happily said, "Nonsense! I'm sure anything my cute little sisters wears will be adorable! Anyone who says otherwise is a liar!"
Releasing a series of bell-like laughter, Luna withered in joy under Magna's endless a.s.sault of tickles.
Thanks to being brought up in a hospital, Magna has a plethora of experience when it comes to kids. When kids who had to stay overnight started to cry or panic, he would read stories to them, play with them or even just be there for them when their parents couldn't. He was so liked by the kids at the hospital that they all called him 'Big brother' and always ended up crying when they had to leave.
Stopping his onslaught, Magna smiled as Luna giggled while lying on the ground. Her tail beat happily back and forth before she shot up from the ground. With a skip in her step, Luna laughed as she said, "I'll tell sis that your getting us some clothes!"
Shaking his head, Magna continued looking for some clothes for the girls.
After a couple minutes, the sound of footsteps rapidly approaching echoed through the house. Turning towards the door, Magna wryly smiled as Argo and Luna both stood infront of him with a smile on their faces while their tails wagged happily behind them.
Handing them each a simple dress and a pair of black shorts, Magna muttered, "These are the only intact clothing I could find."
However, the girls didn't seemed to mind as both girls had happy grins on their faces. Both girls immediately stripped their rags and wore the clothes Magna gave him. Of course, Magna didn't get embarra.s.sed as his mental age was almost three times theirs.
A small blush could be seen on the girls faces as they shyly spun around in their new clothes but Magna only smiled as he said, "Good, they fit. I honestly didn't know your sizes so I was kinda worried."
Coughing in an attempt to hide her embara.s.sment, Luna turned towards the door and said, "Now that we're ready, we should start looking for some food." Before quickly running outside with Argo in tow.
Outside, the embara.s.sment was quickly wiped away as both girls showed serious expressions. As if on instinct, Magna became equally serious as he knew that hunting was a difficult and dangerous task.
Unlike hunting in his old world, hunting animals in remnant is made harder by the existence of the grimm. Not only does it make tracking harder but there's also the chance that you may alert a pack of grimm when killing, draining or carving your game.
Looking over towards Argo, Magna muttered, "Do you guys know the rules of hunting?"
With a small nod from Argo, she quietly said, "Back in our tribe, everyone was taught them from a young age. Search for obvious signs of live animals, finish them quickly, don't stay in one place too long and always stay together."
From the side, Luna chipped in, "Also, keep quiet and pay attention to your surroundings."
Magna gave the twins a thankful smile as he only remembered the rules of hunting from his old world.
After an hour of crawling through the forest, the group came across a large group of rabbits. Argo leaned on a tree a small distance away from the rabbits and signalled Magna and Luna to cover the exit area.
Luna and Magna quickly spread out as quietly as possible. Once everyone was in position, Luna took in a deep breath before slinging a barrage of rocks towards the rabbits.
Startled, the rabbits quckly tried to disperse. Luckily, some rabbits were either killed by a rock to the head or injured to the point of not being able to run. Taking the panic as a signal, both Magna and Argo leaped out from where they were hiding before delivering the finishing blow to the wounded animals.
The group had no time to rest, however, as they quickly tossed the rabbits into a bag before rapidly making there way towards he ruins.
While running, the group could hear the sound of howling bellow from behind them. Magna almost started to panic before catching sight of his sisters. While Argo may seem fine, he could tell her skin had turned pale as her eyes seemed to glow in an erratic light. Luna was worse off as she seemed to be on the verge of bursting into tears yet desperately tried to hold it in.
Magna forcefully calmed himself down with a deep breath. Suddenly, a warm feeling circulated in his body as he rapidly wrapped his arms around the girls and leapt up into the trees. As soon as his foot landed on a branch, he was surprised as he instantly leapt forward travelling on the treetops.
The girls only stared on in awe as Magna seemed to easily carry both of them and their game while easily traversing the treetops with nimble and agile steps.
After about 30 minutes, Magna stopped on a thick branch and collapse to his knees. Panting and sweating, Magna felt the world around him sway. Almost as soon as he started to fall, Argo and Luna hastily caught him and forced him to rest.
Looking into his half-opened eyes, Argo released a sigh of relief and muttered, "…Luckily, he's still conscious. However, he's extremely fatigued and needs some time to rest."
Rummaging around in her bag, Argo pulled out the flask of water, held it to his mouth and said, "Drink."
With a grateful nod, Magna greedily drank a couple mouthes full before stopping. Panting, Magna struggled for a couple seconds before saying, "…Sorry, girls… I-"
Before he could finish, Luna covered his mouth with her tail as she giggled and said, "What're you saying? You managed to get us out of there! As faunus, we have much better hearing than a human. And while that wasn't a pack of grimm, it was a large group of wolves."
Receiving a small nod from Argo, she added, "What you could hear was probably a scouting party. And from the amount of different howls we could hear, I'd say it would've been a pretty large group. If we were cornered by them, it could've been the end for us."
Before Magna could even say a word in response, Argo light hushed his mouth with her finger as she said with a gentle smile, "Don't worry, we're safe up in the trees. Just rest and we'll continue back to the ruins when your capable."
Suddenly, Magna found himself in a warm and fluffy embrace as both sisters hugged him closely while covering him with their tails. Luna snuggled up against his chest while Argo snuggled up against his stomach.
Seeing the light smile they gave him as he became wrapped in a blanket of warmth, Magna slowly drifted to sleep under the watchful eyes of his adorable sisters.
