Feng Kai Ze called Da Tian Ting’s phone, it was switched off.
‘Da Tian Ting, you’re dead meat!’ Feng Kai Ze vowed. ‘There is nowhere you can hide. I’ll find you.’
Outside the CBD, Da Tian Ting settled into a peaceful apartment. She was going to forget Shang Duan Hua, and escape the stalker Feng Kai Ze.
‘Da Tian Ting, today is the start of your new life,’ Da Tian Ting encouraged herself. ‘Don’t live your life for another person. You need to live for you.’
Da Tian Ting opened a window, she breathed in fresh air and unpacked her suitcase.
The following Monday, Da Tian Ting caught the bus to work. It took her two hours.
Da Tian Ting was exhausted after the long commute to work. She prepared herself to hear a lecture from her manager, because she didn’t call in sick.
Da Tian Ting knocked on Miss Ma’s office door.
‘You’re here,’ Miss Ma said.
‘Yes manager Ma,’ Da Tian Ting said.
Da Tian Ting got a bad feeling because Miss Ma looked too calm.
‘Since you’re here, pack your belongings and hand in your resignation,’ Miss Ma said.
‘Resignation?’ Da Tian Ting asked. ‘Manager Ma, I didn’t say I want to resign.’
‘I know,’ Manager Ma said. ‘The CEO asked you to resign. The company will give you a three month severance pay. Go to payroll to update your account details. Then give a copy of your resignation to HR. Starting tomorrow you’re no longer an employee at this company.’
‘Manager Ma, I know my work performance lately has been poor,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘But I promise I’ll work harder. Please give me another chance.’
‘Tian Ting, I know you’re a hard worker,’ Miss Ma said. ‘If it’s only about you taking days off work without approval, I can deduct your monthly pay and it’ll be the end of it. But there is someone pulling strings behind the scene. The company can’t keep you here.’
‘Wh&h.e.l.lip;’ Da Tian Ting said.
‘I’m sorry Tian Ting,’ Miss Ma said. ‘There is nothing you can do to change the outcome. I have work to do. Go outside and pack your belongings.’
