Feng Kai Ze watched his fierce apple walk past him. Then he asked the floor manager if he knew his fierce apple.
‘Sir, do you know those two women who left?’ Feng Kai Ze asked.
‘Do you mean Miss Da and Miss Ding?’ the floor manager asked. ‘They are regulars. They work in the building across the road.’
Feng Kai Ze looked out the window. The building belonged to Tian Chen’s company.
Across the cafe, Ding Xiao Ran helped to bandage Da Tian Ting’s knees at work. Then Da Tian Ting worked like crazy. She had a backlog of work to do, and new work a.s.signed to her.
‘It’s an emergency!’ Lam Ling cried out.
Everyone looked up from their desk. Lam Ling was Tian Chen’s company’s gossip queen. But Lam Ling’s gossip were reliable.
‘What emergency?’ a chorus of employees asked.
‘Ten minutes ago, Feng’s company announced they’re having an audit of all Tian Chen’s company’s employees’ files,’ Lam Ling said.
Everyone looked worriedly at each other.
‘Why does Feng’s company want to see everyone’s files?’ the employees asked together.
‘I heard someone here offended Feng’s company’s executive,’ Lam Ling said. ‘It makes sense why they want to see everyone’s files. They want to find the ident.i.ty of the person who offended their executive so they can take revenge.’
‘Only someone who has a death wish would offend Feng’s company’s executive,’ the first employee said.
‘I’m lucky I’m not the offender,’ the second employee said.
‘I’m lucky too,’ the third employee said.
Da Tian Ting ignored the gossip. Working was her priority. Besides, she didn’t offend anyone at Feng’s company.
‘Tian Ting, who do you think the offender is?’ Ding Xiao Ran asked.
‘Go ask a ghost,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘The offender isn’t me. I have nothing to worry about.’
‘Of course it’s not you,’ Ding Xiao Ran said. ‘You’ve always been a cautious person, and avoided meeting anyone in a high position. In your world there is only Shang Duan Hua&h.e.l.lip; Tian Ting, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have mentioned him.’
‘Xiao Ran, I’m over it,’ Tian Ting said. ‘Right now I need your help. If you’re free, help me with this endless pile of paper work.’
‘OK,’ Ding Xiao Ran said. ‘I’ll come help you now.’
