‘Mum, when was the last time you wore the diamond necklace?’ Shang Duan Hua asked.

‘I haven’t worn the diamond necklace for a long time,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘Every night I always check if it’s in the box before I go to sleep.’

‘Mum, Xiao Yu is an honest worker, she wouldn’t steal it…’ Shang Duan Hua said.

‘Duan Hua, go call Xiao Yu here,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘Xiao Yu is the only person who has a spare key apart from you and your father.’

Shang Dua Hua went to get Xiao Yu, and he didn’t notice the anxious look on Da Ming Sheng’s face.

‘Shu Pan, don’t jump to conclusions without evidence,’ Shang Ming said. ‘Xiao Yu has been working here for a year. We both know she’s an honest worker. I don’t believe she stole your diamond necklace.’

‘No one can see a person’s heart,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘Who else could steal it apart from Xiao Yu?’

‘Dad, mum’s right,’ Da Ming Sheng said. ‘It must be Xiao Yu.’

Shang Duan Hua returned with Xiao Yu, and Lam Su Pan slapped Xiao Yu’s face.

‘You little b.i.t.c.h!’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘You dare steal under my roof. I’m going to report you to the cops, and let you rot in jail.’

Xiao Yu held her sore and teary face.

‘Mistress, I swear I didn’t steal your diamond necklace,’ Xiao Yu said.

‘If you didn’t steal it then who stole it?’ Lam Shu Pan asked. ‘My husband? It was you who cleaned my bathroom today. Give me back my diamond necklace!’

Xiao Yu knelt and begged Lam Shu Pan to believe her.

‘Mistress, I didn’t take your diamond necklace,’ Xiao Yu said.

‘Xiao Yu, admit the truth,’ Da Ming Sheng said. ‘Did you steal mum’s diamond necklace when you cleaned the bathroom today?’

‘It wasn’t me,’ Xiao Yu said.

‘Since you’re not going to give back my diamond necklace, I’m going to call the cops to arrest you,’ Lam Shu Pan said.

‘Shu Pan, we don’t have evidence Xiao Yu stole your diamond necklace,’ Shang Ming said. ‘The cops won’t arrest Xiao Yu without evidence.’

‘What am I supposed to do?’ Lam Shu Pan asked. ‘Let the little b.i.t.c.h run off with ten million dollars?’

Da Ming Sheng was happy Xiao Yu took the fall.

‘Xiao Yu, if you stole my mum’s diamond necklace because your family needs help, I can help your family if you give it back to my mum,’ Shang Duan Hua said.

‘Young master Shang, I didn’t take mistress’ diamond necklace,’ Xiao Yu said.

‘Go lock the little b.i.t.c.h in the storage room in the bas.e.m.e.nt,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘She can stay in there until she gives back my diamond necklace.’

Xiao Yu held onto Lam Shu Pan’s leg.

‘Mistress, I’m telling the truth,’ Xiao Yu said. ‘I didn’t take your diamond necklace.’

Lam Shu Pan kicked Xiao Yu’s arms off her leg.

‘Shu Pan!’ Shang Ming said.

‘What if Xiao Yu is innocent?’ Shang Ming asked. ‘Then you’re letting her take the fall for the real culprit.’

‘I…’ Lam Shu Pan said.

‘Dad, Xiao Yu is the only employee who has a spare key to yours and mum’s bedroom,’ Da Ming Sheng said.

‘No one is allowed to lock up Xiao Yu without evidence!’ Shang Ming said.

‘Shang Ming!’ Lam Shu Pan said.

‘Shut up!’ Shang Ming said. ‘Look at what a presumptuous person you’ve turned into.’

‘You!’ Lam Shu Pan said.

Shang Ming ignored Lam Shu Pan.

‘Xiao Yu, you’ll be confined in a guest room until my wife’s diamond necklace is found,’ Shang Ming said.

‘Master, thank you for believing me,’ Xiao Yu said.

‘Everyone get out!’ Lam Shu Pan said.

Da Ming Sheng followed everyone outside. She was lucky without Da Tian Ting around, there was still Xiao Yu to be her scapegoat.
