Someone was more radical and quit his job or decided to move to another city. Monday, like New Year, has always been considered the beginning of something new.
Perhaps one of the few people who were genuinely not happy about the new Monday was Elena.
The morning of the new week did not promise anything supernatural, and everything would be as usual, if not for the events of the previous day.
The news that the two heirs of the largest pharmaceutical corporations are having an affair has caused a wide public response.
The events that followed then made this news even bigger. A well-known TV host, who became famous for her sharp temper, publicly apologized for the first time in her life. But the story didn't end up with that. What really shocked everyone was her unexpected decision to leave the world of television at the very peak of her career.
Elena was sitting in her room on the bed and reading the latest news in a laptop browser.
The Internet has been filled with various flattering reviews and articles. People supported their relationship and wanted to get a new confirmation of the connection between Elena and David. From the very morning, the telephone never stopped ringing. Numerous news agencies thrived to receive an exclusive interview. President Lee refused to give any comments and went to the central office for a general meeting. The media boom provoked uncontrollable jumps in the shares of both companies on the stock exchange. But it brought a good profit because the positive response of the audience to the news raised the stock in price by more than 20%. Shareholders were extremely happy about this trend. Only Chen Lee was focused and carefully studied the data. The influence of the media on the shares of any company was commonplace. But in the case of Lee Pharmaceuticals and Greenline Inc., the situation was somewhat different. Only one day had pa.s.sed since the interview, but the effect was similar to an exploding bomb. It was too obvious and was clearly unlike the common reactions in the market. President Lee reviewed the statistics and then instructed the a.n.a.lytics department, "Watch the situation in the media and on the market carefully. Report to me about the slightest fluctuations in any direction immediately. Alert the public relations department to think over quick-response strategies for at least several situations. Let's not relax and calmly repose on the laurels of success." When Mr. Lee remained alone in the office, he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. "G.o.d, what a crazy morning. It doesn't look like I'm getting home today. So, I need to call Elena." The man picked up his mobile phone from the table and made a call. "The subscriber is not responding or is temporarily unavailable," he heard in response. Frowning slightly, he dialed another number and listened to the beeps. "h.e.l.lo," a ringing female voice answered the call. Elena picked up the home phone that was in her room. "Daughter, what happened to your cell phone? I couldn't reach you," her father asked sternly. "With my cell phone...," the girl looked at her smartphone, lying on the bedside table. It was still off since last night. "Dad, I'm sorry. The phone battery died at night, and I forgot to put it on charge. Are you all right? You sound a bit different." "Yes. Everything is good. Just a little worried when you did not answer. Elena, listen, don't go anywhere today. And it is better to stay at home for three days at least. The paparazzi could be around, I do not want them to give you any problems. Do you understand me?" "Yes, dad. I understood everything. Moreover, I did not plan to go anywhere." "Good. Oh yeah, do not forget to eat. I made you breakfast, it's on the table." Elena rolled her eyes and sighed, 'G.o.d, well, I'm not a child, really,' the girl smiled and replied, "Thank you very much. I will definitely eat everything." Chen's face lit up with a contented smile, "Okay, then I am hanging up. If anything happens, call me right away. And don't forget to put your phone on the charge, to be in touch." "Yes, yes, President Lee, it will be done immediately," his daughter replied efficiently. Mr. Lee laughed and hung up. Elena just shrugged her shoulders in embarra.s.sment, 'And what is it with him today?' She thought with joy, for she had not felt like a little girl for a long time, surrounded by her father's care. The girl put down the laptop, got out of bed and turned on the phone. A continuous stream of notifications began to let her know about missed calls and unread messages. Elena began to look at them, "All right... David, Corey, Jason, Corey again, David again... Stop, how many???" The girl's eyes widened in shock from the number she saw, "89 missed calls??! 15 messages??" She opened the inbox. "Elena, where are you?" "Are you all right?" "Pick up the phone." "Why aren't you picking up your phone?" Elena covered her mouth with her hand and began to carefully read the flow of the questions that had fallen on her from David. At that moment, the phone rang out loud. The girl dropped it on the floor in surprise. "d.a.m.n! Fuhh, my heart almost stopped beating...," she leaned over and picked up the phone. The name of the caller [David] was exposed brightly on the screen.
The heads of the departments wrote down the instructions of the president and began executing them.
