"Have you seen what happened? Tell me, now!" Jason's voice was unusually rude, and his usually careless behavior evaporated without a trace.
"I ... I didn't see anything. It all happened too fast! They took the girls away and left!" Melinda's voice was trembling and she was stammering.
"What did they look like? The car, describe me the car! Number, color, model, anything!" Jason grabbed her by the shoulders and began to shake.
"LEAVE ME ALONE! I didn't remember anything, you got it?!" Melinda pushed the young man away and hurried off from the place of abduction.
Hiding around the corner, she took a phone out of her pocket and dialed a number with trembling fingers.
"*****, I did everything as you requested. But, you know, I'm a little scared. Nothing serious will happen to them, right?"
"I seem to have asked you not to contact me by name. Especially when you're out in public."
"Excuse me, Master. I won't do that again," the girl answered guiltily to the severe reprimand of the man on the other side of the line.
"Well done. You did your job. You can be free. I will deal with the rest myself." The man answered in a cold voice and hung up the phone.
'd.a.m.n, when he talks like that, I begin shaking with fear,' the girl closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. 'Well, okay. I'm sure he is worth it,' Melinda opened her eyes, smiled slyly and quietly left the Academy.
. . .
David turned off the phone and looked around. He saw Jason not far from the gate, who was typing something on his phone.
"Hey, Jason! h.e.l.lo! Have you seen Elena? I can't get through to her," David suddenly called out to the young man, which made the latter almost jump on the spot.
"Oh, sorry. You were so focused; I didn't want to scare you."
"David! Bad things happened! Corey and Elena have been kidnapped! They were taken away by some car, I did not even have time to remember the number!"
"What did you say?" David's face instantly darkened.
At that moment, Jason's phone rang and he hurriedly answered the call, "h.e.l.lo, dad! Finally, you answered! Dad, Corey and Elena are kidnapped! We must urgently find them! ... What does "call the police" mean? Who has more opportunities - the police or the Minister of Defense? Can you have a special department involved? They will quickly track them. Elena has to have a phone with her ... What do you mean, "We have to wait"? And if something happens to them? ... I don't give a s.h.i.t about your meeting! They are my friends!" Jason hung up and swore loudly.
"Now calm down and explain to me what happened here," David looked seriously at the young man.
Jason had never felt such a stony stare on himself.
"Ok, now I got it," a few minutes later, David was aware of the situation and various thoughts were rushing about in his head. "Do you have a laptop with you?"
"Yes, here it is," Jason opened the backpack and took out a laptop.
David entered his data cloud, and some unknown program, that Jason had no idea about, showed up on the display.
"What are you doing?"
"I am trying to locate Elena," David replied with restraint, never taking his eyes off the monitor.
"What? How?"
"I'm trying to track where her phone is. Although, when it is turned off, it is a little more complicated to do."
"Can you track her phone?! This is great! What are you, a professional hacker or something?" Jason instantly cheered up, and hope lightened his heart that they could find girls faster than he thought.
"Me? A Hacker?" David looked condescendingly at the young man. "Am I like a superhero from a novel? Elena spoke the truth when she mentioned your vivid fantasy."
"But then how can you know where she is?"
"I installed the beacon in her phone when she was sleeping," David replied as if it was an absolutely ordinary thing.
"The beacon... when she was sleeping...," Jason immediately choked as he tried to imagine how it looked in reality. "What are you, some kind of a stalker? Does Elena even know that you're a pervert?"
David looked away from the monitor and smiled mischievously, after which he immediately replaced the smile with a serious expression on his face. "I just don't like when others touch what belongs to me. I need to know where my things are. And in this case, we are talking about my woman."
Jason cringed as if he had been naked in the winter in the cold, "d.a.m.n, man, you give me the creeps, ugh."
"Relax, men do not appear on my list of priorities," at that moment the program on the display poked and a small dot appeared on the map. "There she is! It came out faster than I expected."
David slammed the laptop and picked up his phone. "h.e.l.lo, Rick? Are your super specialists from the security department in the main office now? ... Ok, will be at the Berne Group building in half an hour, gather them all. The matter is urgent and serious. You will know all the details when we meet."
David hung up, picked up Jason's laptop, and headed toward the parking lot, where his car was.
"I'm with you!" Jason shouted after him, unable to follow his quick step.
"If you come with me, then be ready to take up a gun."
Jason stopped when he heard the words of David, but when the image of Corey emerged in his head, the young man's doubts immediately faded away.
He took a deep breath and kept on going faster.
