David stopped at the exit and turned around. "Please tell me which one of you is Miss Lee?"
"It's me." Elena got up from her seat and looked at him suspiciously.
"Miss Lee, Professor Richards said that I can ask you for help should anything happen. Show me the way to the library archive, please."
"Ehmm, right now?"
"Yes. Right now."
Elena left the table and went to David, who was waiting for her, he let her go ahead and they left the audience together.
Melinda watched this moment with envy. Her friends instantly jumped to her.
"Oh G.o.d, Mel. Did you see it? If this Lee has not disdained an old man, then she will definitely grab this cutie into her hands."
"Yeah, this Anderson is really something. He is a total honey pie among local teachers. d.a.m.n and I do not even know where this darn archive is!"
"Both of you, would you shut up already?!" Melinda broke down and exploded. "This b.i.t.c.h, Elena, she has completely p.i.s.sed me off today! How could she even dare to behave like that! We ought to show her that she barked up the wrong tree this time."
Then one of Melinda's friends went into a whisper. "Do you know what I have just heard? Corey was discussing plans for the evening with her, and it looks like the two of them are going to Lime. Yes, and they are taking some fellas with them!"
"You've got to be kidding! They are going to the Lime? Who will let them in? There is such a tight control out there so even money bags sometimes don't get themselves in. You can enter the club exclusive by recommendation!"
"That's what I'm saying! I myself was surprised when I heard this. I think this curly blondie hopped to it. I don't know whom she had to b.u.t.ter up to get the invitations but I'm sure their coming to that club will turn up to be a great comedy!"
Melinda's eyes glittered with devilish lights. "So, it's Lime you are saying ... Hmm ... What a wonderful choice. I just have someone to contact there." The girl smiled and a cunning plan drew to hear head.
"Mel, Mel, can I go along with you? I have never been to this club."
"Yes, I also really want to go! By the way, yesterday I saw a friend from the Faculty of Arts. So she was in Lime last week and guess who she saw there? Rick Stein! She overheard his conversation, and he said that he planned to drop by the club again at the beginning of the week. Can you imagine if he will be there too?"
"Seriously?" Melinda didn't believe her ears. She did not expect such a remarkable set of circ.u.mstances. Moreover, she will be able to figure out how to take revenge on Elena, and also be able to seize the moment and charm Stein.
"Well, since you both got such valuable information, I will also get invitations for you. It will be necessary to intelligibly show these two where their level is."
Elena followed David in complete bewilderment from his pedagogical 'abilities'.
"Miss Lee, I need to pick something up from the office, so let's first go there."
"OK, no problem. As you say."
The girl looked at the man who seemed very pleased with himself, and tried to guess why Professor Richards had invited him at all. It absolutely looked like he clearly overestimated this young man's responsible att.i.tude to the matter.
"Mr. Anderson, I'm wondering why you took this folder with materials if you still gave a lecture just to check the box?"
"Aah, are you talking about THIS folder, Miss Lee?" David grinned, hinting at how Elena leaned on it with her hand. "It was just in case if I began getting bored. You can take a look."
Elena took the folder from David's hands and was speechless when she saw what was in there.
Proudly laying on a stack of blank white sheets there was a man's magazine. The inscription said: 'The best cars of this year. The most complete review'.
"And these, in your opinion, are the materials for the lecture???"
"Of course, these are materials for the lecture!" David leaned slightly toward Elena and slightly lowered his tone "But these materials are exclusively for the eyes of the TECHER", he finished with a wink.
Elena opened her mouth, but did not know whether it was worth something at all to respond to such a comment.
Meanwhile, they had already reached the office, and David opened the door.
"Mr. Anderson, how old are you?"
"I'm 27. Why?"
"You know, your behavior very often does not match your age. It seems to me that a professor should question your experience."
"Hmmm ... So, this is what you think ..."
David walked over to the chair where his jacket was and took out a pack of cigarettes. Turning to Elena, he lit one of the cigarettes and took a drag. Then he exhaled slowly and stared at the girl. Elena immediately realized that an attack would follow.
"I heard tonight we all are meeting at the club. Do you want to check there how much of an experienced man I am?"
"Well, no, this time I will not fall for your trick." Elena gathered all her thoughts and approached the man.
"First of all ..." she addressed to him, stopping a step away from the man, "In my free time I don't do any unplanned research. And secondly ..." The girl reduced the distance, and her lips stopped two inches from his lips. Her hand slid up his arm. "You cannot smoke in this office." Elena took the cigarette and stubbed it in a gla.s.s of water on the table next to her.
"It's my time to score now. You will find the way to the archive yourself. Best regards, Mr. Anderson" said the girl and left the room.
A few seconds after Elena closed the door behind her, a loud laughter broke out in the office. "Hahaha, G.o.d, how lovely! It looks like I will be waiting for tonight's meeting impatiently."
