The Lone Dragon 20 Superior Combat Analysis

Shi Meng continued fighting the ravage wolves with excellent agility and combat expertise for seven straight hours. Harold was very pleased with his progress. Finally, when facing his sixth wolf, Shi Meng couldn't block the frontal claw attack and took a hit. That single blow landed him on his face, ten yards backwards and the wolf was ready to further claw him more. The other students were late to respond and were just frozen for a second.

Herald immediately sprang into action and waited to see if anyone else would react fast. Surprisingly, both Eluraa and Jian Tan had rushed forward to block the wolf's next attack. But Eluraa, was one step faster and immediately started exchanging blows with the wolf. She parried with it for a few minutes and subsequently landed consecutive critical hits and finished the wolf in fifteen minutes.

Everybody was surprised. Herald was taken aback beyond limits. He could see the girl's full combat prowess. She had learnt all the weak points of the ravage wolf and its attack pattern from the short seven hours Shi Meng fought with the wolves and applied that knowledge perfectly. She was fighting with the skills and experience as if this was the thousandth ravage wolf she was killing. n.o.body would believe that this was her first time facing a live magical creature, albeit of the lowest grade.

Herald signalled Nidaros to stop, "Let's finish today's training here and we can pick it back up tomorrow. We will first head to the village's healer for mending Shi Meng and then retire back to the inn for resting. Good work today students". The village healer was an old woman who specialised in casting lower level healing spells. Herald quickly paid her the two gold and she healed Shi Meng's wounds. Eluraa was fascinated with healing spells. She was also observing very intently the royal healers back in their duelling tournament.

Then, the group went back to their inn and Herald asked Shi Meng to get some of his wolf meat cooked by the Inn's chef for them. During dinner Herald discussed with Nidaros about today's combat training and then both of them lectured a bit on identifying critical hits and weak points in their enemy. The group then retired for the night and herald asked them to rest well for tomorrow's training.

Easier said than done. The sight of Eluraa single handedly beating that wolf in fifteen minutes and completely over powering that wolf, left them all dumb-founded. Even Reina accepted Eluraa's superior combat talent and her ability to a.n.a.lyse the fights. She could clearly see the difference in their levels. Even Jian Tan retired silently to his room. Everybody was focused on improving their combat skills and mental conditioning for the upcoming fights next day.

Everyone had a.s.sumed that Eluraa would be starting today's fights. They all wanted to see if her performance would be similar to that of yesterday's and would be able to clear these wolves at a terrifying pace. Shi Meng in particular was smouldering on the side. His pride and arrogance had taken a hit. He was a very compet.i.tive person and someone else had outmatched him by miles. He silently stood there waiting for his turn again.

"For today's training, let's start the fights with Jian Tan" Herald surprised everyone and asked for Jian Tan to start the attacks. The rest of the day went similar to the previous day and Jian Tan managed to defeat three wolves. After which, Reina took her turn and she also managed to defeat three wolves before switching with Fjornath. The day then ended with the three of them finishing up the fights. They visited the village healer, listened to the comments and pointers from Herald and Nidaros and retired for the day.

The next day Herald asked Shi Meng to start with the training. This time Shi Meng did slightly better than his previous attempt and managed to defeat eight wolves. Eluraa, then took over after him and killed a total of ten wolves just in the last hour. As expected Herald praised her and everyone again witnessed her combat prowess. Shi Meng clenched his hands and lowered his head. They then retired for the day, after discussing that day's performance.

In this way, they alternated and practiced fighting the ravage wolves for ten whole days and the number of wolves finally dwindled. Herald and Nidaros were also satisfied with their progress and were happy that no other mishap had happened. They escorted the students back to the blood academy campus through the teleportation portal and gave a detailed report of the training to Lingtian.

"I am sorry Lingtian. I shouldn't have pressed you in the beginning regarding the girl from the Ashenvale academy. It turns out that we have discovered a diamond in the rough. She has pure raw talent when it comes to sword combat. In the worst-case scenario, she will turn out be an excellent general will ma.s.sive combat power. The rest of the students have also improved tremendously. I expect many of them to be breaking the second threshold in their weapon mastery soon. We will report back to the royal empire now." Nidaros and Herald almost immediately took their leave and departed for their duties. Lingtian asked the students to completely relax for the next couple of days and then join their cla.s.smates for regular academy schedule.
