Many centuries ago....
Zyra's memory is as long and deep as the roots of the earth. Their species was young when the Rune Wars took place, when mortal armies fought each other for the power of creation.
Hidden in the jungles of k.u.mungu, somewhere among the great rivers that cut east of Shurima, are the legendary Zyr Gardens. Elemental spells transformed the ground in strange and unpredictable ways, sp.a.w.ning fierce carnivorous plants that attacked any creature within reach. They infested and devoured, oblivious to the conflicts of mortals, content only to tangle forests and swamps with their vineyards. They recognized each other collectively as Zyra… and there was plenty of food for everyone, even in wartime.
One day, a small company of soldiers, loyal to the unknown, marched over those lands in search of some forgotten prize. They were led by an ambitious witch, but they were far from home, bound to succ.u.mb to the vapors and harmful spores of that cursed place.
The inhabitants of the Gardens attacked and their th.o.r.n.y hooks pierced armor and bodies with cruel ease. Though they fought bravely, the warriors knew they could not stand long, and they asked the witch for help. Gathering her powers, she caused a powerful explosion. Rune symbols burned through the air, casting their eerie light as the th.o.r.n.y scrub advanced.
But at that very moment, a spark ignited the swamp gases, resulting in a magical explosion that wiped out all living things within miles. Of the rare survivors of the Rune Wars, none of them ever knew what happened in the Zyr Gardens.
Centuries have pa.s.sed. The ground where the battle had been fought remained empty and lifeless on the surface ... but in the depths, something happened. The energies released at the site spent a long time resting, curling, fed by radioactive rain. A pod swelled, pulsing with an unearthly life, until a creature broke free, panting and confused.
She saw a broken and transformed world, full of fresh ideas and vitality. Her head was full of mismatched memories, coming out of the muddy land straight into her confused thoughts. She remembered the warmth of the sun, the taste of the rain, the words of power and the agony of hundreds of deaths.
The thing - she - was called Zyra, but she never understood why.
As she began to explore the wild lands far from where she had been born, Zyra realized that she was different from the other creatures she encountered. Mortals were fearful and disagreeable, while the most ethereal ent.i.ties were often capricious or arrogant. None of them seemed to respect the kingdoms they inhabited, devastating everything with their mere presence, and that caused Zyra much anger and contempt. Almost spontaneously, new lives sprang up wherever she went; voracious plants that shifted and evolved before his eyes, sp.a.w.ning poisonous splinters or sprouting new tentacles at a breakneck pace.
Rootless and free to move, Zyra and her deadly offspring began to feed and grow strangling all other life forms. She devastated crops, invaded settlements, and destroyed warriors who were brave or foolish enough to confront her, always leaving a trail of botanical horrors through her.
As the Shurima rivers began to flow again, a strange vegetation was seen on its banks, slowly advancing westward each season. And as much as they try to rip it or burn it, it keeps growing…
this chapter was short because it was just to introduce a personahem that will join the MC harem!
