Somehow, I did a terrible thing. I killed an animal courier. I hope they don't get mad at me. I checked the letter and it says... "To Jay".
Maybe I shouldn't really check what's inside the letter. I guess I'll pa.s.s my training for now and get back to the guild.
I arrived at the guild hall but Jay wasn't there. If he's not here then maybe he's training the new recruits again. So I decided to go to the barracks.
Looks like he's beating the new recruits again. All of them against him and in just a couple of seconds, they were all down. Alive but really not in a good shape.
"Hey, you're here again hara.s.sing them every night. Are you guys ok?" I asked them.
"They're fine. You worry too much. They'll just have to go to the clinic and our healers would just patch them up. So, are you looking for me?" Jay asked.
"Yes, you have a letter. I don't know who sent it, though."
"Let me take a look." Then opened the letter.
"It's Scy, he's planning to come here and talk to me. I guess this is something important. It says here that he'll be arriving soon." He explained.
"Why not just come here, though?" I asked curiously.
"You've seen him, right? I told him to send us a letter first before visiting because he looks really shady and our guards might not get the right idea. Not to mention we are really having tight security because of our new discoveries." That sounds reasonable.
"Oh... Ok..." I said but suddenly...
*BAAAAAAAAAM!*
Out of nowhere, we heard an explosion just outside the gate. It seems like he's here.
-Other Side Guild Gate-
We checked it and as Jay said earlier, our guards already surrounded Scy and I guess he bought a girl company.
"Hey, guys. Put your weapons down. He's my friend." Jay ordered.
"Are you sure? He's really ugly. He might have bad intentions you know." One of the unimportant guards said. You may be exactly right about him being ugly but that's not a good way to judge someone... still he looks ugly.
"Can't you just do what I've said? Also, don't rub to his face that he's ugly. You might hurt his feelings." Jay...
Then they pulled back escorting him inside our guild.
So... we headed right through our guild hall and all our leaders are present. Jay, our guild leader and he wants us to call him Captain, Rafrov, head of our research team, Arvin, head of the scouts and archers, Briam, head of the spellcasters and healers, and of course me, the head of the barracks. We are starting the meeting with Scythus, the guild leader of Life Guild and Miss Akko, one of his officers.
"So, what did you come here for? Are you inviting me to a party again after rescuing the slaves from the Raven City?" Jay asked.
"Of course, we will be having a celebration again but I'm here for a different reason. I'll cut to the chase, I'm impressed with your guild and I can tell that this city is composed of thousands of people already. I'm not quite sure but it's almost half of the Order of Light's army." Scy said.
"And? What's your point?" Jay asked. Even being best friends in real life, they have a different relationship in-game due to their responsibilities as leaders of their own guilds.
"Well, it's simple. We want you to be our ally." Scy offered.
"I know you started a war against Ravens, but you managed to win against them, although, capturing their city would have been a good idea. As you may know, we don't really want attention from the public. Our guild might be growing so fast but we're not planning on joining any disputes for now." Jay's right. We've been unknown for a while now and being allied with them would only cause too much publicity due to the fact that they're... famous for causing troubles and we have things we hide too.
"I understand. But this is not just about the Ravens. If you look closely, our guild is one of the farthest in the North while your guild is the farthest in the South. If we can become allies, we can all protect those in the middle which are those small villages and settlements that need our help." Scy explained. He has a point.
"I know that it's a good idea but I can't risk our guild. We may have good numbers but I don't want to risk our guild to unnecessary losses. Remember, you need to protect your own first before you can protect the others. We can't send you reinforcements when needed because of the distance of our guilds too." Jay, why are you avoiding him so much.
"We don't need any help from you. We can handle ourselves. All we want is, we want to travel south of your guild without getting any trouble and look for the other Elf Clan or other races if there are any. We want to protect them because... they are now a part of our guild." Scy explained... What? Are they really inviting creatures in their guild?
"Well, I guess I can't argue with you about that. Also, we avoid publicity so it would be better if this won't go out. We accept and will be part of your alliance." Jay... you agreed too fast. I think you should think about it first.
"Hey, Jay. Aren't you supposed to ask us first before accepting anything? Their guild is composed of not even a hundred... not even fifty... Their guild won't be any of use to us." Arvin exclaimed. He's not liking the idea I guess or he might have a grudge against Life Guild after defeating them in the game in the party.
"I know, but there's no war so far so I don't think that the population of a guild is even relevant this time. Also, I'm the Guild Leader and I'm the one who makes the decisions. Ok?" Jay ordered and it seems he's really serious now.
"Yes, you are but we are your officers for some reason. We have votes too you know." He doesn't really want to stop I guess.
"So what are you proposing?" Scy started to talk to Arvin too.
"They said you're strong and you've beaten our Guild Leader, I saw it. I wish to fight you in a match. If you can beat me, then I won't stop your few people roam around our guild." Arvin... that's a bad idea...
"Hey, stop it. You're making a mess. I told you he's my friend and there's no need for that. You've been playing the game with me from the start but Scy only played for a couple of months. It's not going to be fair." Jay said. Just a couple of months? Really?
"Haha. There's no need to be serious Jay. How about a fight against officers? Akko here, against your noisy officer?" Scy asked.
"What? You can't fight your own fight?" Arvin...
"If all of you can't beat her then that means you don't have what it takes to beat me... believe me." Scy is the second strongest after all but not in our territory.
"Fine. I'll cut her up and then you're next!" Arvin's being rude...
-Other Side Barracks-
We went to the barracks to start the match. It's between Miss Akko and Arvin. Miss Akko is calm but it looks like Arvin is not in a good mood.
"Guys, no matter what the outcome of the battle is, please no hard feelings. This is just about my comrades being stubborn. Ok, so get ready. Monster Souls are not allowed to be used." Jay announced the rules. Using monster souls could ruin this place after all.
Both of them are preparing to fight in the middle of the training field. I can feel the intensity of Arvin's aura and I can tell that he's eager to fight.
"FIGHT!" Jay signaled the start of the fight.
"Finally! We haven't tried joining any tournament yet but let me tell you something, I'm the best scout out here!" Arvin rushed towards Miss Akko with full speed.
"CAMOUFLAGE!" While running, Arvin started to disappear. He's not even leaving any footsteps or any sound.
"COMBAT TACTICS!" Then he appeared around Miss Akko with mirror images! If not because of my senses, I can't tell where the real one is!
"Take this! COMBAT KNIVES!" He charged at her with incredible speed with his after image!
"FIERY PUNCH!"
*BAAAAAAAM!* What?!
Miss Akko's attack landed first and Arvin was pushed back. Arvin was. .h.i.t in the body and his attack failed. Miss Akko's attack was faster than him!
"Not bad. Thanks to my armor, it really didn't hurt." Arvin said. It looks like the power stone socketed in his armor really worked great.
"Wow, I can't believe he didn't take any heavy injury from that attack. If it was me, I'd be slapping my face to the ground now." Scy said to Jay.
"Well, we have good equipment here so that saved him, I guess," Jay replied.
"But how did you know the real me when I'm attacking you?" Arvin asked Miss Akko.
"Are we going to talk or are we going to fight?" There's no way you can easily predict where the real Arvin that time without good senses or maybe she used something instead.
"Fine then! I'm going to get serious! I'm trying to not hit you that hard because you're a girl but I guess it doesn't matter anymore. Prepare to die!" We're not killing anyone here, Arvin. Watch your language. Once again he charged at her so fast!
"FLAME WAVE!" Miss Akko released a flame wave towards Arvin!
"COMBAT SLASH!" He slashed the flame and it was cut in half, thanks to the power stone socketed to his weapon! He was able to pa.s.s through!
"COMBAT FLASH!" He disappeared in his spot!
"COMBAT ACE!" Then he appeared above of Miss Akko! He's using his best move!
"FIRE BOOSTER!" What?! Miss Akko was able to avoid the attack by backing off at significant speed!
"You have tough equipment but how about this..." Miss Akko said.
*ZWOOOOOOSH!* So fast!
"SCORCHING FIERY EXPLOSION!" Miss Akko prepared her ma.s.sive attack!
*BOOOOOOOOOOM!* There's no time for Arvin to get away and he was. .h.i.t!
The ground was messed up and... Arvin was seriously injured. Jay really needs to stop the fight.
"Enough. That's it for today. Let's go back to the guild hall and someone please get Arvin to the healers." Jay ordered.
She's really something. Even with his armor, it didn't stop her ma.s.sive attack. I bet she has more mana than anyone here.
"Sir! We have urgent news!" An unimportant guard reported.
"Did you lost your horse again? I told you to keep it close to you, d.a.m.n it." This isn't the first time, unimportant guard. You're making Jay mad.
"Not this time, Sir! We got reports from our friends in the Order of Light City that someone stole the Soulstone of the Frozen King!"
"What?! So it's not about your horse right?" Why are you fixated with the horse?!
