Chapter 4 – Rescuing the Male Protagonist (1)

When she finally gave up, the servant girls breathed a sigh of relief. However, in the next moment from the pavilion behind her, suddenly came the sound of porcelain being broken and a boy’s terrified scream—the voice was a chilling, shrill cry. It made the hairs all over Ye Mu’s body stand on end.

What if, it was actually the other way around: when the male protagonist dies she wouldn’t be able to return home?

After such an idea flashed across her mind, Ye Mu had quickly turned around. In the eyes of the terrified servant girls, she ran speedily towards the half-opened door of the pavilion.

The door was opened with a loud bang and everyone had looked towards it in reflex, only to find a small bean breaking in.

The man sitting on the head seat suddenly stood up. Although he did not block the door to the pavilion, he had imposed a ban on everybody. Who would be so bold and daring to break in at such a time?

But after the Ye Mu came in, she wasn’t able to see the angry host, rather, her eyes were immediately glued straight at the direction of the noise. What she saw in front of her eyes stung the very core of her being and her heart uncontrollably burned in fury.

She saw was a young boy, about seven to eight years old. His mouth was blocked with a wide palm and he was pressed down on the tea table in an extremely mortifying position. Blood was gushing from his shoulder like an unending fountain, caused by the deep mark a sharp knife had embedded on it. He was restrained from behind by a fat man who had taken off his trousers and he was struggling with all his strength to resist, completely oblivious to his blood flowing and covering half the table.

Official Liu was the one who held the knife; the direct perpetrator for the ghastly wound on the little boy’s shoulder. The scene had been was so merciless that the other little slaves couldn’t help but scream in horror.

“Outrageous!  Who allowed you in?”

Ye Li snarled furiously and it was only then that Ye Mu was able to regain her focus. She took a deep, calming breath and tried to push her bubbling rage back down. She began to look around—at this time, in addition to Ye Li and Official Liu, there were messy clothes haphazardly strewn across the floor. The men holding the women in their arms looked at her crossly from her sudden intrusion of their ‘happy’ time.

Official Liu had also been taken aback. He coldly harrumphed, putting aside the dagger to grab the boy’s hand. However, his hold wasn’t the least gentle.

His eyes narrowed, “Is this how General Ye would entertain this official? Or, is this girl trained to be another of those entertainers?”

Ye Li’s complexion turned ashen and he promptly smiled apologetically, “I have let you witness a ridiculous scene. This is my unworthy daughter; I will promptly let her out.”

He looked toward the Ye Mu and bellowed, “Why are you still not leaving?!”

When he shouted the whole splendid and magnificent hall was rocked with earthquakes merely from his loud voice. All the female entertainers were brought to their knees. Meanwhile, Ye Mu’s servant girl also knelt down all over the floor and tugged at her master. She shivered and said, “You-young lady, we have to go…”

But Ye Mu did not budge an inch.

She had always refused to acknowledge that this world from a novel was anything but real. However, everything in front of her, from the cruel display to the shaking hall, was a reality.

How could have she thought that all of these would be fake?

The scent of blood was thick in the air, there was a boy on the table about to be violated, three or four slaves are kneeling on one side. Moreover, insensitive spectators are only looking on coldly.

For such a reality… all of these things were challenging her bottom line!

But at this very moment, Ye Mu suddenly grabbed him by the collar with both hands and hollered,
