Chapter 172.2 - Purposely being injured to gain pity

For the sake of making it look even more real, he didn’t use any inner strength either.

So this time, he’d actually gotten injured for real, making his face shockingly pale.

Lou Qingwu seemed to have been shocked out of her mind, pushing herself up to look at his injuries.

When she saw that his pulse was worryingly weak, her eyes couldn’t help but redden, “I’m sorry, it’s all because of me. Third prince, are you okay?”

Xiahou Qing was nearly about to faint, reluctantly spitting out, “I’m … fine.”

But when the dizziness left, he reached out to grab Lou Qingwu’s soft hands that almost seemed boneless.

He suddenly grabbed her and held her in his arms, his voice so gentle it could squeeze out water, “I’ve frightened you. Don’t be scared, I’m here. How could I let anything happen to you?”

Lou Qingwu’s little face immediately went bright red, wanting to push him but scared that she’d b.u.mp into his injury, mshe could only uneasily lay against his chest.

Her white as snow face was flushed red, “Third … third prince …”

Xiahou Qing saw her like that and his heart swelled with pride.

Once he used this tactic of injuring himself to gain her pity, how could an ordinary official’s daughter who never left the house, not lose her heart to him?

His eyes softened, growing deeply emotional.

He was originally handsome so added with how earnest he watched her, it only made a person’s heart beat faster.  

The two people’s bodies were stuck to each other, Xiahou Qing could feel her heart beating.

Pride grew in him even more as he couldn’t help but touch her small face, “And you’re still calling me the third prince. Qingwu, call me Qing okay?”

“....” Lou Qingwu looked downwards, her head nearly leaning on his chest, as if she was bashful.

But in a place where Xiahou Qing couldn’t see, her face was cold.

The more he pretended to be in love with her, the more she was reminded of her past life.

She only hated she couldn’t break his bones and stomp on his ashes.

He was still as disgusting as ever.

What else could he do, apart from pretending to be in love with that face of his?

Her half-lidded eyes slowly looked up, watery and big as she lightly glanced at him.

Her bright eyes reflected Xiahou Qing’s face.

Xiahou Qing watched himself and felt like his heart was really about to stop beating.

The warmth in his eyes slowly grew lovestruck.

Even he didn’t know if he was acting or if he’d really been bewitched by the girl in front of him.

Lou Qingwu only quickly looked up at him before looking down again.

She used this opportunity to struggle a bit and roll to the side, sitting up and hugging her knees.

She’d finally gotten away from him so her heart finally calmed down.

She then pat her chest, biting down on her lips, “That … isn’t appropriate.”

“En?” Xiahou Qing was dazed before suddenly freezing.

He flipped over too to smile at her, “Not willing?”

Lou Qingwu quickly ducked down, her little face red as she didn’t speak.

Xiahou Qing knew that he’d reached his goal and it wouldn’t be good to force her too much.

He sighed, “Alright, it’ll just be ‘third prince’ then. Sooner or later, I’ll make you change the way you call me.” He looked at her deeply, making Lou Qingwu turned around and face him with her back.

This awkward little action pleased Xiahou Qing.

This was what a girl that had only come-of-age should be like.

“Qingwu, did you get hurt?”

“En, no.” Lou Qingwu then turned around, her expression returning to normal.

But when her eyes fell on the b.l.o.o.d.y red patch on Xiahou Qing’s chest, worry grew in her eyes.

“Third prince, are you really fine? Your wound seems to have reopened.”

For some reason, Xiahou Qing must have thought of something because he suddenly grew silent.
