“Let go.” Lou Qingwu’s cold and calm voice was clear, like an icy cold white lotus.

It hit his ears, alien and isolating yet made you want to scurry towards it.

“Not … letting go!” The softness in his arms made Xiahou Rui even more drunk, like it was all just a beautiful dream.

Outside of the door, the Xiahou Liuyun and Lan Bai who had just arrived, had their eyes wide open.

Lan Bai saw this and was just about to roll up her sleeves to pull away that pervert second prince from her master, when Xiahou Liuyun covered her mouth and pulled her away.

He then considerately closed the door.

“Mmm mmm mmmm ….” Xiahou Liuyun, you bad egg, my master’s chast.i.ty!

No matter how hard Lan Bai struggled, Xiahou Liuyun was still able to pull her away and into another room.

Inside Xiahou Rui’s rooms, the two people stood straight, still like lovers.

“Really?” The tight embrace around her made Lou Qingwu’s eyes narrow as her right hand reached around the table.

Her hands curled around a golden goblet as she lifted her arm up and splashed the liquor inside onto Xiahou Rui’s handsome face.

Xiahou Rui’s arms loosened and Lou Qingwu pushed him away, taking three steps back as she used her cold gaze to look at him.

Xiahou Rui rubbed his face, feeling a lot more clear minded than before.

But when his mind cleared up and saw that the girl in front of him wasn’t inside a dream, but in reality, his face paled.

“Lou, Miss Lou … I ….”

“It seems like the second prince has cleared up his mind.” Lou Qingwu slowly looked up, walking towards the table.

She put down the golden goblet as she looked at the uneasy man in front of him.

Xiahou Rui’s heart jumped at this look, feeling as if a thousand tingling sensations were running up and down his body, into his bones.

He coughed lowly, hiding his feelings as he looked at the girl in front of him.

How long had it been, since he had seen her?

Originally, he thought that she wouldn’t have wanted to see him after knowing his feelings.

But now, she’d come.

Did that mean, she didn’t actually hate him?

But why did she say that she wanted to help him, yet still be so entangled with third brother?

In these few days, apart from the pressure from his empress-mother, there was the dimness of the rumours and gossip spreading around her.

“Miss Lou, you …”

“Want to ask why I’m so close with the third prince?”

“ …. En.”

“But what ident.i.ty are you using to ask me that? You’re not married, I’m not married. It’s my own right to be close to whoever I like.” Lou Qingwu poured a cup of wine, the clear liquid inside the cup swirled as it displayed her reflection.

“I just …” Xiahou Rui suddenly straightened up, wanting to explain but he was also expectant.

“Just what? Thought that because I wanted to help you, meant that I had feelings towards you?”

“...” Xiahou Rui didn’t want to admit it but his heart did think that.

So even though that song, at the pink hibiscus festival made him agree to his wedding, when he woke up, he was full of regret, hesitant and unable to think clearly.

“I thought I’d already expressed myself clearly enough but if the second prince wants to heart it again, I’ll personally tell you. The reason why I want to help you, is because among the princes, you’re the best suited out of all of them. At least, you’re benevolent and have the potential to rule a country, so helping you, was the most easiest.”

“So that’s to say, even if it’s not me, it could be someone else?” Xiahou Rui felt like his heart had been hit strongly by something.

With every word he spoke, it was burning pain.
